| 4 | For we are given up, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. And would God we were sold for bondmen and bondwomen: the evil might be borne with, and I would have mourned in silence: but now we have an enemy, whose cruelty redoundeth upon the king. | vì thiếp và dân của thiếp đã bị bán đứng cho người ta triệt hạ, giết chết, tru diệt. Atque utinam in servos et famulas venderemur: esset tolerabile malum, et gemens tacerem: nunc autem hostis noster est, cujus crudelitas redundat in regem. |
| 5 | And king Assuerus answered and said: Who is this, and of what power, that he should do these things? | Vua A-suê-rô ngỏ lời với hoàng hậu Ét-te: “Tên đó là ai? | 6 | And Esther said: It is this Aman that is our adversary and most wicked enemy. Aman hearing this was forthwith astonished, not being able to bear the countenance of the king and of the queen. | Bà Ét-te thưa: “Đối phương ấy, địch thù ấy, chính là tên Ha-man khốn nạn này đây!” Trước mặt vua và hoàng hậu, Ha-man kinh hoàng sợ hãi. | εἶπεν δὲ Ἐσθήρ Ἄνθρωπος ἐχθρὸς Ἁμὰν ὁ πονηρὸς οὗτος. Quod ille audiens, illico obstupuit, vultum regis ac reginæ ferre non sustinens. |
| 7 | But the king being angry rose up, and went from the place of the banquet into the garden set with trees. Aman also rose up to entreat Esther the queen for his life, for he understood that evil was prepared for him by the king. | Vua bừng bừng nổi giận, đứng lên, bỏ tiệc rượu, đi ra ngự uyển. Còn Ha-man thì ở lại nài xin hoàng hậu Ét-te cứu sống mình, vì y quá hiểu: thảm hoạ sẽ xảy đến cho y, vua đã quyết định rồi. | ὁ δὲ βασιλεὺς ἐξανέστη ἀπὸ τοῦ συμποσίου εἰς τὸν κῆπον· ὁ δὲ Ἁμὰν παρῃτεῖτο τὴν βασίλισσαν, ἑώρα γὰρ ἑαυτὸν ἐν κακοῖς ὄντα. | וְהַמֶּ֜לֶךְ קָ֤ם בַּחֲמָתוֹ֙ מִמִּשְׁתֵּ֣ה הַיַּ֔יִן אֶל גִּנַּ֖ת הַבִּיתָ֑ן וְהָמָ֣ן עָמַ֗ד לְבַקֵּ֤שׁ עַל נַפְשׁוֹ֙ מֵֽאֶסְתֵּ֣ר הַמַּלְכָּ֔ה כִּ֣י רָאָ֔ה כִּֽי כָלְתָ֥ה אֵלָ֛יו הָרָעָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ | Rex autem iratus surrexit, et de loco convivii intravit in hortum arboribus consitum. Aman quoque surrexit ut rogaret Esther reginam pro anima sua: intellexit enim a rege sibi paratum malum. |
| 8 | And when the king came back out of the garden set with trees, and entered into the place of the banquet, he found Aman was fallen upon the bed on which Esther lay, and he said: He will force the queen also in my presence, in my own house. The word was not yet gone out of the king’s mouth, and immediately they covered his face. | Khi vua từ ngự uyển trở lại phòng tiệc rượu thì Ha-man đã nằm vật xuống giường, bên cạnh bà Ét-te. Vua nói: “Lại còn tính xâm phạm đến cả hoàng hậu tại hoàng cung, ngay khi ta có mặt hay sao?” Vua vừa nói xong, người ta liền lấy khăn che mặt Ha-man lại. | ἐπέστρεψεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐκ τοῦ κήπου, Ἁμὰν δὲ ἐπιπεπτώκει ἐπὶ τὴν κλίνην ἀξιῶν τὴν βασίλισσαν· εἶπεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεύς Ὥστε καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα βιάζῃ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ μου; Ἁμὰν δὲ ἀκούσας διετράπη τῷ προσώπῳ. | וְהַמֶּ֡לֶךְ שָׁב֩ מִגִּנַּ֨ת הַבִּיתָ֜ן אֶל בֵּ֣ית מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה הַיַּ֗יִן וְהָמָן֙ נֹפֵ֔ל עַל הַמִּטָּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶסְתֵּ֣ר עָלֶ֔יהָ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הֲ֠גַם לִכְבּ֧וֹשׁ אֶת הַמַּלְכָּ֛ה עִמִּ֖י בַּבָּ֑יִת הַדָּבָ֗ר יָצָא֙ מִפִּ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּפְנֵ֥י הָמָ֖ן חָפֽוּ | Qui cum reversus esset de horto nemoribus consito, et intrasset convivii locum, reperit Aman super lectulum corruisse in quo jacebat Esther, et ait: Etiam reginam vult opprimere, me præsente, in domo mea. Necdum verbum de ore regis exierat, et statim operuerunt faciem ejus. |
| 9 | And Harbona, one of the eunuchs that stood waiting on the king, said: Behold the gibbet which he hath prepared for Mardochai, who spoke for the king, standeth in Aman’s house, being fifty cubits high. And the king said to him: Hang him upon it. | Một trong các thái giám là ông Khác-vô-na nói trước mặt vua: “Kìa, sãn có cái giá Ha-man dựng lên để treo cổ ông Moóc-đo-khai. Chính nhờ lời báo cáo của ông này mà đức vua đã thoát nạn. Cái giá đó cao hai mươi lăm thước, dựng ngay tại nhà Ha-man.” Vua liền nói: “Treo cổ y lên đó!” | εἶπεν δὲ Βουγαθὰν εἷς τῶν εὐνούχων πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ἰδοὺ καὶ ξύλον ἡτοίμασεν Ἁμὰν Μαρδοχαίῳ τῷ λαλήσαντι περὶ τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ὤρθωται ἐν τοῖς Ἁμὰν ξύλον πηχῶν πεντήκοντα. εἶπεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεύς Σταυρωθήτω ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῦ. | וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חַ֠רְבוֹנָה אֶחָ֨ד מִן הַסָּרִיסִ֜ים לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ גַּ֣ם הִנֵּה הָעֵ֣ץ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂ֪ה הָמָ֟ן לְֽמָרְדֳּכַ֞י אֲשֶׁ֧ר דִּבֶּר ט֣וֹב עַל הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ עֹמֵד֙ בְּבֵ֣ית הָמָ֔ן גָּבֹ֖הַּ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים אַמָּ֑ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ תְּלֻ֥הוּ עָלָֽיו | Dixitque Harbona, unus de eunuchis, qui stabant in ministerio regis: En lignum quod paraverat Mardochæo, qui locutus est pro rege, stat in domo Aman, habens altitudinis quinquaginta cubitos. | 10 | So Aman was hanged on the gibbet, which he had prepared for Mardochai: and the king’s wrath ceased. | Ha-man bị treo cổ lên cái giá dành sãn cho ông Moóc-đo-khai.
