But Job answered, and said:Bấy giờ ông Gióp lên tiếng trả lời:Ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ἰὼβ λέγειוַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽרRespondens autem Job, dixit:Then Job answered,
O that my sins, whereby I have deserved wrath, and the calamity that I suffer, were weighed in a balance.Ôi, phải chi ai cân được nỗi sầu của tôi,và đặt lên bàn cân nỗi đau tôi phải chịu!Εἰ γάρ τις ἱστῶν στήσαι μου τὴν ὀργήν, τὰς δὲ ὀδύνας μου ἄραι ἐν ζυγῷ ὁμοθυμαδόν,ל֗וּ שָׁק֣וֹל יִשָּׁקֵ֣ל כַּעְשִׂ֑י והיתי וְ֝הַוָּתִ֗י בְּֽמֹאזְנַ֥יִם יִשְׂאוּ יָֽחַד[Utinam appenderentur peccata mea quibus iram merui, et calamitas quam patior, in statera!“Oh that my anguish were weighed, and all my calamity laid in the balances!
As the sand of the sea this would appear heavier: therefore my words are full of sorrow:Nhưng nỗi đau, nỗi sầu của tôi lại nặng hơn cát biển;chính vì thế mà tôi phải nghẹn ngào, nói năng lúng túng.καὶ δὴ ἄμμου παραλίας βαρυτέρα ἔσται· ἀλλ᾽ ὡς ἔοικεν τὰ ῥήματά μού ἐστιν φαῦλα.כִּֽי עַתָּ֗ה מֵח֣וֹל יַמִּ֣ים יִכְבָּ֑ד עַל כֵּ֝֗ן דְּבָרַ֥י לָֽעוּQuasi arena maris hæc gravior appareret; unde et verba mea dolore sunt plena:For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas, therefore my words have been rash.
For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and the terrors of the Lord war against me.Vì những tên nhọn của Đấng Toàn Năngđã cắm ngập thân tôi, khiến tâm thần tôi ngấm toàn chất độc. כִּ֤י חִצֵּ֪י שַׁדַּ֡י עִמָּדִ֗י אֲשֶׁ֣ר חֲ֭מָתָם שֹׁתָ֣ה רוּחִ֑י בִּעוּתֵ֖י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַֽעַרְכֽוּנִיquia sagittæ Domini in me sunt, quarum indignatio ebibit spiritum meum; et terrores Domini militant contra me.For the arrows of the Almighty are within me. My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God set themselves in array against me.
Will the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or will the ox low when he standeth before a full manger?Có con lừa nào kêu bên đám cỏ non,có con bò nào rống giữa cỏ xanh mơn mởn?τί γάρ; μὴ διὰ κενῆς κεκράξεται ὄνος ἄγριος, ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τὰ σῖτα ζητῶν; εἰ δὲ καὶ ῥήξει φωνὴν βοῦς ἐπὶ φάτνης ἔχων τὰ βρώματα;הֲיִֽנְהַק פֶּ֥רֶא עֲלֵי דֶ֑שֶׁא אִ֥ם יִגְעֶה שּׁ֝֗וֹר עַל בְּלִילֽוֹNumquid rugiet onager cum habuerit herbam? aut mugiet bos cum ante præsepe plenum steterit?Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? Or does the ox low over his fodder?
Or can an unsavoury thing be eaten, that is not seasoned with salt? or can a man taste that which when tasted bringeth death?Hỏi có ai ăn nhạt mà không cần muối? Can that which has no flavor be eaten without salt? Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
The things which before my soul would not touch, now, through anguish are my meats. Quæ prius nolebat tangere anima mea, nunc, præ angustia, cibi mei sunt.My soul refuses to touch them. They are as loathsome food to me.
Who will grant that my request may come: and that God may give me what I look for?Ai làm cho điều tôi mong ước được thành tựu?Điều tôi hy vọng, ước gì Thiên Chúa khấng ban cho!εἰ γὰρ δῴη, καὶ ἔλθοι μου ἡ αἴτησις, καὶ τὴν ἐλπίδα μου δῴη ὁ κύριος. I might have my request, that God would grant the thing that I long for,
And that he that hath begun may destroy me, that he may let loose his hand, and cut me off?Ước gì Thiên Chúa nghiền tôi tan nát,Người cứ vung tay chặt nhỏ tôi ra.ἀρξάμενος ὁ κύριος τρωσάτω με, εἰς τέλος δὲ μή με ἀνελέτω.וְיֹאֵ֣ל אֱ֭לוֹהַּ וִֽידַכְּאֵ֑נִי יַתֵּ֥ר יָ֝ד֗וֹ וִֽיבַצְּעֵֽנִיet qui cœpit, ipse me conterat; solvat manum suam, et succidat me?even that it would please God to crush me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
And that this may be my comfort, that afflicting me with sorrow, he spare not, nor I contradict the words of the Holy One.Ít ra tôi còn có được niềm an ủi này,còn có được niềm vui trong nỗi đau khôn xiết:Lời của Đấng Thánh, tôi không hề quên lãng.εἴη δέ μου πόλις τάφος, ἐφ᾽ ἧς ἐπὶ τειχέων ἡλλόμην ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς. וּ֥תְהִי ע֨וֹד נֶ֘חָ֤מָתִ֗י וַאֲסַלְּדָ֣ה בְ֭חִילָה לֹ֣א יַחְמ֑וֹל כִּי לֹ֥א כִ֝חַ֗דְתִּי אִמְרֵ֥י קָדֽוֹשׁEt hæc mihi sit consolatio, ut affligens me dolore, non parcat, nec contradicam sermonibus Sancti.Let it still be my consolation, yes, let me exult in pain that doesn’t spare, that I have not denied the words of the Holy One.
For what is my strength, that I can hold out? or what is my end that I should keep patience?Sức tôi được ngần nào mà tôi dám cậy trông?Kết cuộc tôi ra sao để cho tôi kiên nhẫn?τίς γάρ μου ἡ ἰσχύς, ὅτι ὑπομένω; ἢ τίς μου ὁ χρόνος, ὅτι ἀνέχεταί μου ἡ ψυχή;מַה כֹּחִ֥י כִֽי אֲיַחֵ֑ל וּמַה קִּ֝צִּ֗י כִּֽי אַאֲרִ֥יךְ נַפְשִֽׁיQuæ est enim fortitudo mea, ut sustineam? aut quis finis meus, ut patienter agam? What is my strength, that I should wait? What is my end, that I should be patient?
My strength is not the strength of stones, nor is my flesh of brass.Sức của tôi, đâu phải là sức đá?Thịt của tôi, đâu cứng chắc như đồng?μὴ ἰσχὺς λίθων ἡ ἰσχύς μου; ἢ αἱ σάρκες μού εἰσιν χαλκεῖαι;אִם כֹּ֣חַ אֲבָנִ֣ים כֹּחִ֑י אִֽם בְּשָׂרִ֥י נָחֽוּשׁ Is my strength the strength of stones? Or is my flesh of bronze?
Behold there is no help for me in myself, and my familiar friends also are departed from me.Chẳng lẽ hư không lại là nguồn trợ lực giúp tôi chờ đợi,hay khôn ngoan tài giỏi đã bỏ tôi mà trốn mất rồi?ἢ οὐκ ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ ἐπεποίθειν; βοήθεια δὲ ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἄπεστιν. Ecce non est auxilium mihi in me, et necessarii quoque mei recesserunt a me.Isn’t it that I have no help in me, that wisdom is driven away from me?
He that taketh away mercy from his friend, forsaketh the fear of the Lord. Qui tollit ab amico suo misericordiam, timorem Domini derelinquit.“To him who is ready to faint, kindness should be shown from his friend; even to him who forsakes the fear of the Almighty.
My brethren have passed by me, as the torrent that passeth swiftly in the valleys.Anh em tôi đã phản bội tôi, họ như dòng thác lũ,như lòng suối khi nước đã chảy qua.οὐ προσεῖδόν με οἱ ἐγγύτατοί μου· ὥσπερ χειμάρρους ἐκλείπων, ἢ ὥσπερ κῦμα παρῆλθόν με·אַ֭חַי בָּגְד֣וּ כְמוֹ נָ֑חַל כַּאֲפִ֖יק נְחָלִ֣ים יַעֲבֹֽרוּFratres mei præterierunt me, sicut torrens qui raptim transit in convallibus.My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, as the channel of brooks that pass away;
They that fear the hoary frost, the snow shall fall upon them.Băng đóng thành tảng, tuyết chất thành đống;nước đục ngầu khi băng giải tuyết tan,οἵτινές με διευλαβοῦντο, νῦν ἐπιπεπτώκασίν μοι ὥσπερ χιὼν ἢ κρύσταλλος πεπηγώς·הַקֹּדְרִ֥ים מִנִּי קָ֑רַח עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ יִתְעַלֶּם שָֽׁלֶגQui timent pruinam, irruet super eos nix.which are black by reason of the ice, in which the snow hides itself.
At the time when they shall be scattered they shall perish: and after it groweth hot they shall be melted out of their place.rồi cạn khô vào mùa nắng hạ.Dưới ánh nắng mặt trời, nước bốc hơi, không để lại dấu vết.καθὼς τακεῖσα θέρμης γενομένης οὐκ ἐπεγνώσθη ὅπερ ἦν·בְּ֭עֵת יְזֹרְב֣וּ נִצְמָ֑תוּ בְּ֝חֻמּ֗וֹ נִדְעֲכ֥וּ מִמְּקוֹמָֽםTempore quo fuerint dissipati, peribunt; et ut incaluerit, solventur de loco suo.In the dry season, they vanish. When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
The paths of their steps are entangled: they shall walk in vain, and shall perish.Đoàn lữ hành thay đổi hướng đi,họ phiêu bạt giữa chốn hoang vu rồi mất dạng.οὕτως κἀγὼ κατελείφθην ὑπὸ πάντων, ἀπωλόμην δὲ καὶ ἔξοικος ἐγενόμην. The caravans that travel beside them turn away. They go up into the waste, and perish.
Consider the paths of Thema, the ways of Saba, and wait a little while.Đoàn lữ hành Tê-ma chăm chăm tìm nước,đoàn người Sơ-va dạt dào hy vọng.ἴδετε ὁδοὺς Θαιμανῶν, ἀτραποὺς Σαβῶν οἱ διορῶντες·הִ֭בִּיטוּ אָרְח֣וֹת תֵּמָ֑א הֲלִיכֹ֥ת שְׁ֝בָ֗א קִוּוּ לָֽמוֹConsiderate semitas Thema, itinera Saba, et expectate paulisper. The caravans of Tema looked. The companies of Sheba waited for them.
They are confounded, because I have hoped: they are come also even unto me, and are covered with shame.Nhưng họ phải bẽ bàng vì đã quá tin tưởng chờ mong, khi đến nơi, họ thẹn thùng xấu hổ.καὶ αἰσχύνην ὀφειλήσουσιν οἱ ἐπὶ πόλεσιν καὶ χρήμασιν πεποιθότες.בֹּ֥שׁוּ כִּֽי בָטָ֑ח בָּ֥אוּ עָ֝דֶ֗יהָ וַיֶּחְפָּֽרוּConfusi sunt, quia speravi: venerunt quoque usque ad me, et pudore cooperti sunt. They were distressed because they were confident. They came there, and were confounded.
Now you are come: and now seeing my affliction you are afraid.Đối với tôi trong lúc này, các anh là thế đó,gặp lúc nguy nan, các anh liền hốt hoảng.ἀτὰρ δὲ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐπέβητέ μοι ἀνελεημόνως, ὥστε ἰδόντες τὸ ἐμὸν τραῦμα φοβήθητε. Nunc venistis; et modo videntes plagam meam, timetis. For now you are nothing. You see a terror, and are afraid.
Did I say: Bring to me, and give me of your substance? Did I ever say, ‘Give to me’? or, ‘Offer a present for me from your substance’?
Or deliver me from the hand of the enemy, and rescue me out of the hand of the mighty?hay giải thoát tôi khỏi tay địch thù,cứu giúp tôi khỏi tay phường hung bạo”?ὥστε σῶσαί με ἐξ ἐχθρῶν, ἢ ἐκ χειρὸς δυναστῶν ῥύσασθαί με;וּמַלְּט֥וּנִי מִיַּד צָ֑ר וּמִיַּ֖ד עָרִיצִ֣ים תִּפְדּֽוּנִיvel: Liberate me de manu hostis, et de manu robustorum eruite me?or, ‘Deliver me from the adversary’s hand’? or, ‘Redeem me from the hand of the oppressors’?
Teach me, and I will hold my peace: and if I have been ignorant in any thing, instruct me.Xin vui lòng chỉ giáo, rồi tôi sẽ lặng thinh,tôi sai ở chỗ nào, xin chỉ cho tôi thấy.διδάξατέ με, ἐγὼ δὲ κωφεύσω· εἴ τι πεπλάνημαι, φράσατέ μοι. Docete me, et ego tacebo: et si quid forte ignoravi, instruite me.“Teach me, and I will hold my peace. Cause me to understand my error.
Why have you detracted the words of truth, whereas there is none of you that can reprove me?Lời ngay lẽ thẳng dễ thuyết phục biết bao,nhưng lời lẽ các anh thì bắt bẻ được gì?ἀλλ᾽ ὡς ἔοικεν φαῦλα ἀληθινοῦ ῥήματα, οὐ γὰρ παρ᾽ ὑμῶν ἰσχὺν αἰτοῦμαι·מַה נִּמְרְצ֥וּ אִמְרֵי יֹ֑שֶׁר וּמַה יּוֹכִ֖יחַ הוֹכֵ֣חַ מִכֶּֽםQuare detraxistis sermonibus veritatis, cum e vobis nullus sit qui possit arguere me?How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what does it reprove?
You dress up speeches only to rebuke, and you utter words to the wind. Do you intend to reprove words, since the speeches of one who is desperate are as wind?
You rush in upon the fatherless, and you endeavour to overthrow your friend. Super pupillum irruitis, et subvertere nitimini amicum vestrum.Yes, you would even cast lots for the fatherless, and make merchandise of your friend.

Answer, I beseech you, without contention: and speaking that which is just, judge ye.Hãy trở lại, mong sao chẳng có gì dối gian.Một lần nữa, xin mau trở lại,tôi vẫn là một người công chính.καθίσατε δὴ καὶ μὴ εἴη ἄδικον, καὶ πάλιν τῷ δικαίῳ συνέρχεσθε. Please return.
