And it came to pass, that when the multitudes pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Genesareth,Một hôm, Đức Giê-su đang đứng ở bờ hồ Ghen-nê-xa-rét, dân chúng chen lấn nhau đến gần Người để nghe lời Thiên Chúa.Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ τὸν ὄχλον ἐπικεῖσθαι αὐτῷ ⸀καὶ ἀκούειν τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν ἑστὼς παρὰ τὴν λίμνην Γεννησαρέτ,Factum est autem, cum turbæ irruerunt in eum ut audirent verbum Dei, et ipse stabat secus stagnum Genesareth. Now while the multitude pressed on him and heard the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.
And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. He saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets.
And going into one of the ships that was Simon’s, he desired him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting he taught the multitudes out of the ship.Đức Giê-su xuống một chiếc thuyền, thuyền đó của ông Si-môn, và Người xin ông chèo thuyền ra xa bờ một chút. Ascendens autem in unam navim, quæ erat Simonis, rogavit eum a terra reducere pusillum. Et sedens docebat de navicula turbas. He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
Now when he had ceased to speak, he said to Simon: Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
And Simon answering said to him: Master, we have labored all the night, and have taken nothing: but at thy word I will let down the net.Ông Si-môn đáp: “Thưa Thầy, chúng tôi đã vất vả suốt đêm mà không bắt được gì cả. Nhưng vâng lời Thầy, tôi sẽ thả lưới.”καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ⸀Σίμων ⸀εἶπεν· Ἐπιστάτα, δι’ ⸀ὅλης νυκτὸς κοπιάσαντες οὐδὲν ἐλάβομεν, ἐπὶ δὲ τῷ ῥήματί σου χαλάσω ⸂τὰ δίκτυα⸃.Et respondens Simon, dixit illi: Præceptor, per totam noctem laborantes nihil cepimus: in verbo autem tuo laxabo rete.Simon answered him, “Master, we worked all night and caught nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.”
And when they had done this, they enclosed a very great multitude of fishes, and their net broke.Họ đã làm như vậy, và bắt được rất nhiều cá, đến nỗi hầu như rách cả lưới.καὶ τοῦτο ποιήσαντες συνέκλεισαν πλῆθος ἰχθύων πολύ, ⸀διερρήσσετο δὲ ⸂τὰ δίκτυα⸃ αὐτῶν. When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.
And they beckoned to their partners that were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were almost sinking.Họ làm hiệu cho các bạn chài trên chiếc thuyền kia đến giúp. They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.
Which when Simon Peter saw, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying: Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.Thấy vậy, ông Si-môn Phê-rô sấp mặt dưới chân Đức Giê-su và nói: “Lạy Chúa, xin tránh xa con, vì con là kẻ tội lỗi!”ἰδὼν δὲ Σίμων Πέτρος προσέπεσεν τοῖς γόνασιν Ἰησοῦ λέγων· Ἔξελθε ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι ἀνὴρ ἁμαρτωλός εἰμι, κύριε·Quod cum videret Simon Petrus, procidit ad genua Jesu, dicens: Exi a me, quia homo peccator sum, Domine. But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.”
For he was wholly astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken.Quả vậy, thấy mẻ cá vừa bắt được, ông Si-môn và tất cả những người có mặt ở đó với ông đều kinh ngạc.θάμβος γὰρ περιέσχεν αὐτὸν καὶ πάντας τοὺς σὺν αὐτῷ ἐπὶ τῇ ἄγρᾳ τῶν ἰχθύων ⸀ὧν συνέλαβον,Stupor enim circumdederat eum, et omnes qui cum illo erant, in captura piscium, quam ceperant:For he was amazed, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had caught;
And so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon’s partners. And Jesus saith to Simon: Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men.Cả hai người con ông Dê-bê-đê, là Gia-cô-bê và Gio-an, bạn chài với ông Si-môn, cũng kinh ngạc như vậy. Et ait ad Simonem Jesus: Noli timere: ex hoc jam homines eris capiens.and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive.”
And having brought their ships to land, leaving all things, they followed him. When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy, who seeing Jesus, and falling on his face, besought him, saying: Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. While he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”
And stretching forth his hand, he touched him, saying: I will. Be thou cleansed. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. Et extendens manum, tetigit eum dicens: Volo: mundare. Et confestim lepra discessit ab illo.He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him.
And he charged him that he should tell no man, but, Go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.Rồi Người truyền anh ta không được nói với ai, và Người bảo: “Hãy đi trình diện tư tế, và vì anh đã được sạch, thì hãy dâng của lễ như ông Mô-sê đã truyền, để làm chứng cho người ta biết.”καὶ αὐτὸς παρήγγειλεν αὐτῷ μηδενὶ εἰπεῖν, ἀλλὰ ἀπελθὼν δεῖξον σεαυτὸν τῷ ἱερεῖ, καὶ προσένεγκε περὶ τοῦ καθαρισμοῦ σου καθὼς προσέταξεν Μωϋσῆς εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς. He commanded him to tell no one, “But go your way and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing according to what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”
But the fame of him went abroad the more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
And he retired into the desert, and prayed. Ipse autem secedebat in desertum, et orabat. But he withdrew himself into the desert and prayed.
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he sat teaching, that there were also Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, that were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was to heal them.Một hôm, khi Đức Giê-su giảng dạy, có mấy người Pha-ri-sêu và luật sĩ ngồi đó; họ từ khắp các làng mạc miền Ga-li-lê, Giu-đê và từ Giê-ru-sa-lem mà đến. On one of those days, he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by who had come out of every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was with him to heal them.
And behold, men brought in a bed a man, who had the palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.Bỗng có mấy người khiêng đến một bệnh nhân bị bại liệt nằm trên giường, họ tìm cách đem vào đặt trước mặt Người.καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνδρες φέροντες ἐπὶ κλίνης ἄνθρωπον ὃς ἦν παραλελυμένος, καὶ ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν εἰσενεγκεῖν καὶ ⸀θεῖναι ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ. Behold, men brought a paralyzed man on a cot, and they sought to bring him in to lay before Jesus.
And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in, because of the multitude, they went up upon the roof, and let him down through the tiles with his bed into the midst before Jesus. Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the middle before Jesus.
Whose faith when he saw, he said: Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. Quorum fidem ut vidit, dixit: Homo, remittuntur tibi peccata tua.Seeing their faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”
And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?Các kinh sư và các người Pha-ri-sêu bắt đầu suy nghĩ: “Ông này là ai mà nói phạm thượng như thế? The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”
And when Jesus knew their thoughts, answering, he said to them: What is it you think in your hearts?Nhưng Đức Giê-su thấu biết họ đang suy nghĩ như thế, nên Người lên tiếng bảo họ rằng: “Các ông đang nghĩ gì trong bụng vậy?ἐπιγνοὺς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοὺς διαλογισμοὺς αὐτῶν ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Τί διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν;Ut cognovit autem Jesus cogitationes eorum, respondens, dixit ad illos: Quid cogitatis in cordibus vestris? But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered them, “Why are you reasoning so in your hearts?
Which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?Trong hai điều: một là bảo: ‘Anh đã được tha tội rồi’, hai là bảo: ‘Đứng dậy mà đi’, điều nào dễ hơn?τί ἐστιν εὐκοπώτερον, εἰπεῖν· Ἀφέωνταί σοι αἱ ἁμαρτίαι σου, ἢ εἰπεῖν· ⸀Ἔγειρε καὶ περιπάτει;Quid est facilius dicere: Dimittuntur tibi peccata: an dicere: Surge, et ambula?Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?
But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.Vậy, để các ông biết: ở dưới đất này, Con Người có quyền tha tội –Đức Giê-su bảo người bại liệt–: tôi truyền cho anh: Hãy đứng dậy, vác lấy giường của anh mà đi về nhà!”ἵνα δὲ εἰδῆτε ὅτι ⸂ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐξουσίαν ἔχει⸃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας— εἶπεν τῷ παραλελυμένῳ· Σοὶ λέγω, ⸀ἔγειρε καὶ ἄρας τὸ κλινίδιόν σου πορεύου εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου.Ut autem sciatis quia Filius hominis habet potestatem in terra dimittendi peccata, (ait paralytico) tibi dico, surge, tolle lectum tuum, et vade in domum tuam. But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, arise, take up your cot, and go to your house.”
And immediately rising up before them, he took up the bed on which he lay; and he went away to his own house, glorifying God.Ngay lúc ấy, người bại liệt trỗi dậy trước mặt họ, vác cái anh đã dùng để nằm, vừa đi về nhà vừa tôn vinh Thiên Chúa.καὶ παραχρῆμα ἀναστὰς ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν, ἄρας ἐφ’ ὃ κατέκειτο, ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ δοξάζων τὸν θεόν.Et confestim consurgens coram illis, tulit lectum in quo jacebat: et abiit in domum suam, magnificans Deum.Immediately he rose up before them, and took up that which he was laying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God.
And all were astonished; and they glorified God. And they were filled with fear, saying: We have seen wonderful things today.Mọi người đều sửng sốt và tôn vinh Thiên Chúa. Amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God. They were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”
And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said to him: Follow me.Sau đó, Đức Giê-su đi ra và trông thấy một người thu thuế, tên là Lê-vi, đang ngồi ở trạm thu thuế. Et post hæc exiit, et vidit publicanum nomine Levi, sedentem ad telonium, et ait illi: Sequere me.After these things he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office, and said to him, “Follow me!”
And leaving all things, he rose up and followed him.Ông bỏ tất cả, đứng dậy đi theo Người. Et relictis omnibus, surgens secutus est eum.He left everything, and rose up and followed him.
And Levi made him a great feast in his own house; and there was a great company of publicans, and of others, that were at table with them.Ông Lê-vi làm tiệc lớn đãi Người tại nhà ông. Levi made a great feast for him in his house. There was a great crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.
But the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying to his disciples: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners? Their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”
And Jesus answering, said to them: They that are whole, need not the physician: but they that are sick.Đức Giê-su đáp lại họ rằng: “Người khoẻ mạnh không cần thầy thuốc, người đau ốm mới cần.καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν οἱ ὑγιαίνοντες ἰατροῦ ἀλλὰ οἱ κακῶς ἔχοντες·Et respondens Jesus, dixit ad illos: Non egent qui sani sunt medico, sed qui male habent.Jesus answered them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
I came not to call the just, but sinners to penance.Tôi không đến để kêu gọi người công chính, mà để kêu gọi người tội lỗi sám hối ăn năn.”Mt 9,14-17; Mc 2,18-22οὐκ ἐλήλυθα καλέσαι δικαίους ἀλλὰ ἁμαρτωλοὺς εἰς μετάνοιαν.Non veni vocare justos, sed peccatores ad pœnitentiam.I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
And they said to him: Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees in like manner; but thine eat and drink?Họ nói với Người: “Môn đệ ông Gio-an năng ăn chay cầu nguyện, môn đệ người Pha-ri-sêu cũng thế, còn môn đệ ông thì ăn với uống!”Οἱ δὲ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτόν· ⸀Οἱ μαθηταὶ Ἰωάννου νηστεύουσιν πυκνὰ καὶ δεήσεις ποιοῦνται, ὁμοίως καὶ οἱ τῶν Φαρισαίων, οἱ δὲ σοὶ ἐσθίουσιν καὶ πίνουσιν. They said to him, “Why do John’s disciples often fast and pray, likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink?”
To whom he said: Can you make the children of the bridegroom fast, whilst the bridegroom is with them?Đức Giê-su trả lời: “Chẳng lẽ các ông lại có thể bắt khách dự tiệc cưới ăn chay, khi chàng rể còn ở với họ?ὁ ⸀δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Μὴ δύνασθε τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ νυμφῶνος ἐν ᾧ ὁ νυμφίος μετ’ αὐτῶν ἐστιν ποιῆσαι ⸀νηστεῦσαι;Quibus ipse ait: Numquid potestis filios sponsi, dum cum illis est sponsus, facere jejunare? He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?
But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then shall they fast in those days.Sẽ có ngày chàng rể bị đem đi; ngày đó, họ mới ăn chay.”ἐλεύσονται δὲ ἡμέραι, καὶ ὅταν ἀπαρθῇ ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ὁ νυμφίος τότε νηστεύσουσιν ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις. But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast in those days.”
And he spoke also a similitude to them: That no man putteth a piece from a new garment upon an old garment; otherwise he both rendeth the new, and the piece taken from the new agreeth not with the old.Đức Giê-su còn kể cho họ nghe dụ ngôn này: “Chẳng ai xé áo mới lấy vải vá áo cũ, vì như vậy, không những họ xé áo mới, mà miếng vải áo mới cũng không ăn với áo cũ.ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ παραβολὴν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὅτι Οὐδεὶς ἐπίβλημα ⸀ἀπὸ ἱματίου καινοῦ ⸀σχίσας ἐπιβάλλει ἐπὶ ἱμάτιον παλαιόν· εἰ δὲ μήγε, καὶ τὸ καινὸν ⸀σχίσει καὶ τῷ παλαιῷ οὐ ⸂συμφωνήσει τὸ ἐπίβλημα⸃ τὸ ἀπὸ τοῦ καινοῦ.Dicebat autem et similitudinem ad illos: Quia nemo commissuram a novo vestimento immittit in vestimentum vetus: alioquin et novum rumpit, et veteri non convenit commissura a novo.He also told a parable to them. “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old garment, or else he will tear the new, and also the piece from the new will not match the old.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottle: otherwise the new wine will break the bottles, and it will be spilled, and the bottles will be lost.“Không ai đổ rượu mới vào bầu da cũ, vì như vậy, rượu mới sẽ làm nứt bầu, sẽ chảy ra và bầu cũng hư.καὶ οὐδεὶς βάλλει οἶνον νέον εἰς ἀσκοὺς παλαιούς· εἰ δὲ μήγε, ῥήξει ὁ ⸂οἶνος ὁ νέος⸃ τοὺς ἀσκούς, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐκχυθήσεται καὶ οἱ ἀσκοὶ ἀπολοῦνται·Et nemo mittit vinum novum in utres veteres: alioquin rumpet vinum novum utres, et ipsum effundetur, et utres peribunt:No one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled and the skins will be destroyed.
But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.Nhưng rượu mới thì phải đổ vào bầu mới.ἀλλὰ οἶνον νέον εἰς ἀσκοὺς καινοὺς ⸀βλητέον.sed vinum novum in utres novos mittendum est, et utraque conservantur. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.
And no man drinking old, hath presently a mind to new: for he saith, The old is better.Cũng không ai uống rượu cũ mà còn thèm rượu mới. No man having drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
