Call now if there be any that will answer thee, and turn to some of the saints.Anh cứ gọi xem! Liệu có ai trả lời anh chăng? [Voca ergo, si est qui tibi respondeat, et ad aliquem sanctorum convertere.“Call now; is there any who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
Anger indeed killeth the foolish, and envy slayeth the little one. Vere stultum interficit iracundia, et parvulum occidit invidia.For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.
I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I cursed his beauty immediately. Ego vidi stultum firma radice, et maledixi pulchritudini ejus statim.I have seen the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
His children shall be far from safety, and shall be destroyed in the gate, and there shall be none to deliver them. His children are far from safety. They are crushed in the gate. Neither is there any to deliver them,
Whose harvest the hungry shall eat, and the armed man shall take him by violence, and the thirsty shall drink up his riches.Cái gì nó gặt được, chớ gì người đói ăn mất,người ta cứ lấy, bất kể hàng rào gai,và tài sản chúng, chớ gì những kẻ khát nuốt trửng.ἃ γὰρ ἐκεῖνοι συνήγαγον, δίκαιοι ἔδονται, αὐτοὶ δὲ ἐκ κακῶν οὐκ ἐξαίρετοι ἔσονται· ἐκσιφωνισθείη αὐτῶν ἡ ἰσχύς.אֲשֶׁ֤ר קְצִיר֨וֹ רָ֘עֵ֤ב יֹאכֵ֗ל וְאֶֽל מִצִּנִּ֥ים יִקָּחֵ֑הוּ וְשָׁאַ֖ף צַמִּ֣ים חֵילָֽםCujus messem famelicus comedet, et ipsum rapiet armatus, et bibent sitientes divitias ejus.whose harvest the hungry eat up, and take it even out of the thorns. The snare gapes for their substance.
Nothing upon earth is done without a voice cause, and sorrow doth not spring out of the ground.Quả thật, nỗi bất hạnh chẳng phải từ lòng đất chui lên,và khổ đau cũng chẳng mọc lên từ mặt đất.οὐ γὰρ μὴ ἐξέλθῃ ἐκ τῆς γῆς κόπος, οὐδὲ ἐξ ὀρέων ἀναβλαστήσει πόνος·כִּ֤י לֹא יֵצֵ֣א מֵעָפָ֣ר אָ֑וֶן וּ֝מֵאֲדָמָ֗ה לֹא יִצְמַ֥ח עָמָֽלNihil in terra sine causa fit, et de humo non oritur dolor.For affliction doesn’t come out of the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;
Man is born to labour and the bird to fly. Homo nascitur ad laborem, et avis ad volatum.but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
Wherefore I will pray to the Lord, and address my speech to God:Phần tôi, tôi sẽ thỉnh cầu Thiên Chúa,sẽ trình bày với Thiên Chúa vụ án của tôi.οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ ἐγὼ δεηθήσομαι Κυρίου, Κύριον δὲ τὸν πάντων δεσπότην ἐπικαλέσομαι,אוּלָ֗ם אֲ֭נִי אֶדְרֹ֣שׁ אֶל אֵ֑ל וְאֶל אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים אָשִׂ֥ים דִּבְרָתִֽיQuam ob rem ego deprecabor Dominum, et ad Deum ponam eloquium meum:“But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,
Who doth great things and unsearchable and wonderful things without number:Người làm ra những điều vĩ đại khôn dò khôn thấu,và những điều kỳ diệu vô vàn vô kể.τὸν ποιοῦντα μεγάλα καὶ ἀνεξιχνίαστα, ἔνδοξά τε καὶ ἐξαίσια, ὧν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός·עֹשֶׂ֣ה גְ֭דֹלוֹת וְאֵ֣ין חֵ֑קֶר נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת עַד אֵ֥ין מִסְפָּֽרqui facit magna et inscrutabilia, et mirabilia absque numero;who does great things that can’t be fathomed, marvelous things without number;
Who giveth rain upon the face of the earth, and watereth all things with waters:Người khiến mưa rơi trên mặt đấtvà đổ tràn nước xuống nương đồng.τὸν διδόντα ὑετὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, ἀποστέλλοντα ὕδωρ ἐπὶ τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανόν·הַנֹּתֵ֣ן מָ֭טָר עַל פְּנֵי אָ֑רֶץ וְשֹׁ֥לֵֽחַ מַ֝יִם עַל פְּנֵ֥י חוּצֽוֹתqui dat pluviam super faciem terræ, et irrigat aquis universa;who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;
Who setteth up the humble on high, and comforteth with health those that mourn.Kẻ mọn hèn, Người cất nhắc lên,kẻ phiền muộn, Người đặt ở nơi cao an toàn.τὸν ποιοῦντα ταπεινοὺς εἰς ὕψος, καὶ ἀπολωλότας ἐξεγείροντα·לָשׂ֣וּם שְׁפָלִ֣ים לְמָר֑וֹם וְ֝קֹדְרִ֗ים שָׂ֣גְבוּ יֶֽשַׁעqui ponit humiles in sublime, et mœrentes erigit sospitate;so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.
Who bringeth to nought the designs of the malignant, so that their hands cannot accomplish what they had begun:Mưu đồ của hạng tinh khôn, Người phá vỡ,khiến tay chúng chẳng làm nên công trạng gì.διαλλάσσοντα βουλὰς πανούργων, καὶ οὐ μὴ ποιήσουσιν αἱ χεῖρες αὐτῶν ἀληθές.מֵ֭פֵר מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת עֲרוּמִ֑ים וְֽלֹא תַעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה יְ֝דֵיהֶ֗ם תּוּשִׁיָּֽהqui dissipat cogitationes malignorum, ne possint implere manus eorum quod cœperant;He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so that their hands can’t perform their enterprise.
Who catcheth the wise in their craftiness, and disappointeth the counsel of the wicked:Người bắt kẻ khôn ngoanbằng chính những xảo kế của chúng,và đi trước mưu toan của phường quỷ quyệt.ὁ καταλαμβάνων σοφοὺς ἐν τῇ φρονήσει, βουλὴν δὲ πολυπλόκων ἐξέστησεν·לֹכֵ֣ד חֲכָמִ֣ים בְּעָרְמָ֑ם וַעֲצַ֖ת נִפְתָּלִ֣ים נִמְהָֽרָהqui apprehendit sapientes in astutia eorum, et consilium pravorum dissipat.He takes the wise in their own craftiness; the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.
They shall meet with darkness in the day, and grope at noonday as in the night. They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.
But he shall save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.Người cứu kẻ yếu hènkhỏi lưỡi gươm, khỏi tay người quyền thế.ἀπόλοιντο δὲ ἐν πολέμῳ, ἀδύνατος δὲ ἐξέλθοι ἐκ χειρὸς δυνάστου·וַיֹּ֣שַׁע מֵ֭חֶרֶב מִפִּיהֶ֑ם וּמִיַּ֖ד חָזָ֣ק אֶבְיֽוֹןPorro salvum faciet egenum a gladio oris eorum, et de manu violenti pauperem.But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
And to the needy there shall he hope, but iniquity shall draw in her mouth.Bấy giờ kẻ nghèo khó lại bừng lên niềm hy vọng,và phường tội lỗi chẳng còn dám hé môi.εἴη δὲ ἀδυνάτῳ ἐλπίς, ἀδίκου δὲ στόμα ἐμφραχθείη. So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
Blessed is the mall whom God correcteth: refuse not therefore the chastising of the lord:Phúc thay người được Thiên Chúa sửa trị! הִנֵּ֤ה אַשְׁרֵ֣י אֱ֭נוֹשׁ יוֹכִחֶ֣נּֽוּ אֱל֑וֹהַּ וּמוּסַ֥ר שַׁ֝דַּ֗י אַל תִּמְאָֽסBeatus homo qui corripitur a Deo: increpationem ergo Domini ne reprobes:“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
For he woundeth, and cureth: he striketh, and his hands shall heal. For he wounds and binds up. He injures and his hands make whole.
In six troubles he shall deliver thee, and in the seventh, evil shall not touch thee.Sáu lần Người giải thoát anh khỏi cơn khốn quẫn,đến lần thứ bảy, tai hoạ không sao hại được anh.ἑξάκις ἐξ ἀναγκῶν σε ἐξελεῖται, ἐν δὲ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ οὐ μὴ ἅψηταί σου κακόν. He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven no evil will touch you.
In famine he shall deliver thee from death: and in battle, from the hand of the sword. In fame eruet te de morte, et in bello de manu gladii.In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.
Thou shalt he hidden from the scourge of the tongue: and thou shalt not fear calamity when it cometh. You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither will you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
In destruction and famine then shalt laugh: and thou shalt not be afraid of the beasts of the earth. You will laugh at destruction and famine, neither will you be afraid of the animals of the earth.
But thou shalt have a covenant with the stones of the lands, and the beasts of the earth shall be at pence with thee.Bởi vì anh giao ước cả với đá ngoài đồng,và thú rừng sẽ cùng anh chung sống.θῆρες γὰρ ἄγριοι εἰρηνεύσουσίν σοι. For you will be allied with the stones of the field. The animals of the field will be at peace with you.
And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle is in peace, and visiting thy beauty thou shalt not sin.Anh sẽ hưởng bình an tại nơi anh cư ngụ,kiểm điểm đàn vật, chẳng thấy thiếu con nào.εἶτα γνώσῃ ὅτι εἰρηνεύσει σου ὁ οἶκος, ἡ δὲ δίαιτα τῆς σκηνῆς σου οὐ μὴ ἁμάρτῃ. You will know that your tent is in peace. You will visit your fold, and will miss nothing.
Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be multiplied, and thy offspring like the grass of the earth. You will know also that your offspring will be great, your offspring as the grass of the earth.
Thou shalt enter into the grave in abundance, as a heap of wheat is brought in its season. Ingredieris in abundantia sepulchrum, sicut infertur acervus tritici in tempore suo.You will come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.
Behold, this is even so, as we have searched out: which thou having heard, consider it thoroughly in thy mind.Đó là điều chúng tôi đã tìm tòi kỹ lưỡng,sự thật là như thế:xin anh nghe và rút tỉa điều lợi ích cho mình.ἰδοὺ ταῦτα οὕτως ἐξιχνιάσαμεν, ταῦτά ἐστιν ἃ ἀκηκόαμεν· ⸂⸆⸃ σὺ δὲ γνῶθι σεαυτῷ εἴ τι ἔπραξας. Ecce hoc, ut investigavimus, ita est: quod auditum, mente pertracta.]Behold, we have researched it.
