Et ut revolvit librum, invenit locum ubi scriptum erat: | The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written, |
| 18 | The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Wherefore he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the contrite of heart, | Thần Khí Chúa ngự trên tôi, vì Chúa đã xức dầu tấn phong tôi, để tôi loan báo Tin Mừng cho kẻ nghèo hèn. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed, |

And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. | Đức Giê-su cuộn sách lại, trả cho người giúp việc hội đường, rồi ngồi xuống. Ai nấy trong hội đường đều chăm chú nhìn Người. | καὶ πτύξας τὸ βιβλίον ἀποδοὺς τῷ ὑπηρέτῃ ἐκάθισεν· καὶ πάντων ⸂οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ⸃ ἦσαν ἀτενίζοντες αὐτῷ. | Et cum plicuisset librum, reddit ministro, et sedit. Et omnium in synagoga oculi erant intendentes in eum. | He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. |

| 22 | And all gave testimony to him: and they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth, and they said: Is not this the son of Joseph? | Mọi người đều tán thành và thán phục những lời hay ý đẹp thốt ra từ miệng Người. Họ bảo nhau: “Ông này không phải là con ông Giu-se đó sao?” | καὶ πάντες ἐμαρτύρουν αὐτῷ καὶ ἐθαύμαζον ἐπὶ τοῖς λόγοις τῆς χάριτος τοῖς ἐκπορευομένοις ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔλεγον· ⸂Οὐχὶ υἱός ἐστιν Ἰωσὴφ οὗτος⸃; | Et omnes testimonium illi dabant: et mirabantur in verbis gratiæ, quæ procedebant de ore ipsius, et dicebant: Nonne hic est filius Joseph? | All testified about him and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” |
| 23 | And he said to them: Doubtless you will say to me this similitude: Physician, heal thyself: as great things as we have heard done in Capharnaum, do also here in thy own country. | Người nói với họ: “Hẳn là các ông muốn nói với tôi câu tục ngữ: Thầy lang ơi, hãy chữa lấy mình! Tất cả những gì chúng tôi nghe nói ông đã làm tại Ca-phác-na-um, ông cũng hãy làm tại đây, tại quê ông xem nào!” | καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Πάντως ἐρεῖτέ μοι τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην· Ἰατρέ, θεράπευσον σεαυτόν· ὅσα ἠκούσαμεν γενόμενα ⸂εἰς τὴν Καφαρναοὺμ⸃ ποίησον καὶ ὧδε ἐν τῇ πατρίδι σου. | Et ait illis: Utique dicetis mihi hanc similitudinem: Medice cura teipsum: quanta audivimus facta in Capharnaum, fac et hic in patria tua. | He said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’” |

| 25 | In truth I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elias in Israel, when heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there was a great famine throughout all the earth. | “Thật vậy, tôi nói cho các ông hay: vào thời ông Ê-li-a, khi trời hạn hán suốt ba năm sáu tháng, cả nước phải đói kém dữ dội, thiếu gì bà goá ở trong nước Ít-ra-en; | ἐπ’ ἀληθείας δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν, πολλαὶ χῆραι ἦσαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἠλίου ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ, ὅτε ἐκλείσθη ὁ οὐρανὸς ⸀ἐπὶ ἔτη τρία καὶ μῆνας ἕξ, ὡς ἐγένετο λιμὸς μέγας ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν, | In veritate dico vobis, multæ viduæ erant in diebus Eliæ in Israël, quando clausum est cælum annis tribus et mensibus sex, cum facta esset fames magna in omni terra: | But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land. |
| 26 | And to none of them was Elias sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, to a widow woman. | thế mà ông không được sai đến giúp một bà nào cả, nhưng chỉ được sai đến giúp bà goá thành Xa-rép-ta miền Xi-đôn. | καὶ πρὸς οὐδεμίαν αὐτῶν ἐπέμφθη Ἠλίας εἰ μὴ εἰς Σάρεπτα τῆς ⸀Σιδωνίας πρὸς γυναῖκα χήραν. | et ad nullam illarum missus est Elias, nisi in Sarepta Sidoniæ, ad mulierem viduam. | Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. |
| 27 | And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet: and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian. | Cũng vậy, vào thời ngôn sứ Ê-li-sa, thiếu gì người mắc bệnh phong ở trong nước Ít-ra-en, nhưng không người nào được sạch, mà chỉ có ông Na-a-man, người xứ Xy-ri thôi.” | καὶ πολλοὶ λεπροὶ ἦσαν ⸂ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ ἐπὶ Ἐλισαίου τοῦ προφήτου⸃, καὶ οὐδεὶς αὐτῶν ἐκαθαρίσθη, εἰ μὴ Ναιμὰν ὁ Σύρος. | Et multi leprosi erant in Israël sub Eliseo propheta: et nemo eorum mundatus est nisi Naaman Syrus. | There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.” |
| 28 | And all they in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with anger. | Nghe vậy, mọi người trong hội đường đầy phẫn nộ. | καὶ ἐπλήσθησαν πάντες θυμοῦ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ ἀκούοντες ταῦτα, | Et repleti sunt omnes in synagoga ira, hæc audientes. | They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue as they heard these things. |
| 29 | And they rose up and thrust him out of the city; and they brought him to the brow of the hill, whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. | Họ đứng dậy, lôi Người ra khỏi thành – thành này được xây trên núi. Họ kéo Người lên tận đỉnh núi, để xô Người xuống vực. | καὶ ἀναστάντες ἐξέβαλον αὐτὸν ἔξω τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἕως ὀφρύος τοῦ ὄρους ἐφ’ οὗ ἡ πόλις ⸂ᾠκοδόμητο αὐτῶν, ὥστε⸃ κατακρημνίσαι αὐτόν· | Et surrexerunt, et ejecerunt illum extra civitatem: et duxerunt illum usque ad supercilium montis, super quem civitas illorum erat ædificata, ut præcipitarent eum. | They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff. |

| 32 | And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his speech was with power. | Họ sửng sốt về cách Người giảng dạy, vì lời của Người có uy quyền. | καὶ ἐξεπλήσσοντο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἐν ἐξουσίᾳ ἦν ὁ λόγος αὐτοῦ. | Et stupebant in doctrina ejus, quia in potestate erat sermo ipsius. | and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority. |

| 34 | Saying: Let us alone, what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God. | “Ông Giê-su Na-da-rét, chuyện chúng tôi can gì đến ông, mà ông đến tiêu diệt chúng tôi? Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him to help her. |
