What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’ |

| 5 | Look up to heaven and see, and behold the sky, that it is higher than thee. | Hãy nhìn lên bầu trời mà ngắm xem:các tầng mây cao hơn ông biết mấy! | ἀνάβλεψον εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἴδε, κατάμαθε δὲ νέφη ὡς ὑψηλὰ ἀπὸ σοῦ. | הַבֵּ֣ט שָׁמַ֣יִם וּרְאֵ֑ה וְשׁ֥וּר שְׁ֝חָקִ֗ים גָּבְה֥וּ מִמֶּֽךָּ | Suspice cælum, et intuere: et contemplare æthera quod altior te sit. | Look to the skies, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you. |
| 6 | If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him? | Giả như ông phạm tội, ông làm chi được Người,ông gia tăng tội ác, có hại được Người không? | εἰ ἥμαρτες, τί πράξεις; εἰ δὲ καὶ πολλὰ ἠνόμησας, τί δύνασαι ποιῆσαι; | אִם חָ֭טָאתָ מַה תִּפְעָל בּ֑וֹ וְרַבּ֥וּ פְ֝שָׁעֶ֗יךָ מַה תַּעֲשֶׂה לּֽוֹ | Si peccaveris, quid ei nocebis? et si multiplicatæ fuerint iniquitates tuæ, quid facies contra eum? | If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him? |
| 7 | And if thou do justly, what shalt thou give him, or what shall he receive of thy hand? | Nếu ông công chính, ông đem lại chi cho Người,liệu Người sẽ nhận được gì từ tay ông? | ἐπεὶ δὲ οὖν δίκαιος εἶ, τί δώσεις αὐτῷ, ἢ τί ἐκ χειρός σου λήμψεται; | אִם צָ֭דַקְתָּ מַה תִּתֶּן ל֑וֹ א֥וֹ מַה מִיָּדְךָ֥ יִקָּֽח | Porro si juste egeris, quid donabis ei? aut quid de manu tua accipiet? | If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand? |
| 8 | Thy wickedness may hurt a man that is like thee: and thy justice may help the son of man. | Tội ác của ông chỉ hại cho loài người,lòng đạo của ông chỉ lợi cho phàm nhân. | ἀνδρὶ τῷ ὁμοίῳ σου ἡ ἀσέβειά σου, καὶ υἱῷ ἀνθρώπου ἡ δικαιοσύνη σου. | לְאִישׁ כָּמ֥וֹךָ רִשְׁעֶ֑ךָ וּלְבֶן אָ֝דָ֗ם צִדְקָתֶֽךָ | Homini qui similis tui est, nocebit impietas tua: et filium hominis adjuvabit justitia tua. | Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man. |
| 9 | By reason of the multitude of oppressions they shall cry out: and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants. | Bị ức hiếp dã man, người ta rên rỉvà van xin khi bị kẻ cường quyền đàn áp. | ἀπὸ πλήθους συκοφαντούμενοι κεκράξονται, βοήσονται ἀπὸ βραχίονος πολλῶν. | מֵ֭רֹב עֲשׁוּקִ֣ים יַזְעִ֑יקוּ יְשַׁוְּע֖וּ מִזְּר֣וֹעַ רַבִּֽים | Propter multitudinem calumniatorum clamabunt, et ejulabunt propter vim brachii tyrannorum. | “By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty. |
| 10 | And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night? | Nhưng chẳng ai buồn hỏi: “Thiên Chúa ở đâu rồi,Người là Đấng đã tạo thành tôi,đã làm vọng lên bao ca khúc giữa đêm trường, | καὶ οὐκ εἶπεν Ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ θεὸς ὁ ποιήσας με, ὁ κατατάσσων φυλακὰς νυκτερινάς, | וְֽלֹא אָמַ֗ר אַ֭יֵּה אֱל֣וֹהַּ עֹשָׂ֑י נֹתֵ֖ן זְמִר֣וֹת בַּלָּֽיְלָה | Et non dixit: Ubi est Deus qui fecit me, qui dedit carmina in nocte; | But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, |
| 11 | Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and instructeth us more than the fowls of the air. | Người là Đấng cho chúng ta hiểu biết hơn dã thú,khôn ngoan hơn chim trời?” | ὁ διορίζων με ἀπὸ τετραπόδων γῆς, ἀπὸ δὲ πετεινῶν οὐρανοῦ; | מַ֭לְּפֵנוּ מִבַּהֲמ֣וֹת אָ֑רֶץ וּמֵע֖וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם יְחַכְּמֵֽנוּ | qui docet nos super jumenta terræ, et super volucres cæli erudit nos? | who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’ |
| 12 | There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men. | Bấy giờ nghe kêu cứu, Người cũng không đáp lại,vì kẻ gian ác vẫn còn ngạo mạn kiêu căng. | ἐκεῖ κεκράξονται, καὶ οὐ μὴ εἰσακούσῃ, καὶ ἀπὸ ὕβρεως πονηρῶν. | שָׁ֣ם יִ֭צְעֲקוּ וְלֹ֣א יַעֲנֶ֑ה מִ֝פְּנֵ֗י גְּא֣וֹן רָעִֽים | Ibi clamabunt, et non exaudiet, propter superbiam malorum. | There they cry, but no one answers, because of the pride of evil men. |
| 13 | God therefore will not hear in vain, and the Almighty will look into the causes of every one. | Thật là công dã tràng:Thiên Chúa chẳng hề nghe, Đấng Toàn Năng không thấy. | ἄτοπα γὰρ οὐ βούλεται ὁ κύριος ἰδεῖν· αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὁρατής ἐστιν | אַךְ שָׁ֭וְא לֹא יִשְׁמַ֥ע אֵ֑ל וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י לֹ֣א יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה | Non ergo frustra audiet Deus, et Omnipotens causas singulorum intuebitur. | Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the Almighty regard it. |
| 14 | Yea when thou shalt say: He considereth not: be judged before him, and expect him. | Người lại càng không trả lời ôngkhi ông nói: ông không thấy Người,và sau khi trình bày với Người vụ kiện của ông,ông vẫn luôn chờ đợi; | τῶν συντελούντων τὰ ἄνομα, καὶ σώσει με. κρίθητι δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ, εἰ δύνασαι αἰνέσαι αὐτὸν ὡς ἔστιν. | אַ֣ף כִּֽי תֹ֭אמַר לֹ֣א תְשׁוּרֶ֑נּוּ דִּ֥ין לְ֝פָנָ֗יו וּתְח֥וֹלֵֽל לֽוֹ | Etiam cum dixeris: Non considerat: judicare coram illo, et expecta eum. | How much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him! |
| 15 | For he doth not now bring on his fury, neither doth he revenge wickedness exceedingly. | hay khi ông nói: Người không vì giận mà trừng phạt,âu cũng là vì Người chẳng quan tâmđến tội phản trắc của loài người. | καὶ νῦν ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπισκεπτόμενος ὀργὴν αὐτοῦ, ⸆ καὶ οὐκ ἔγνω παράπτωμά τι σφόδρα, | וְעַתָּ֗ה כִּי אַ֭יִן פָּקַ֣ד אַפּ֑וֹ וְלֹֽא יָדַ֖ע בַּפַּ֣שׁ מְאֹֽד | Nunc enim non infert furorem suum, nec ulciscitur scelus valde. | But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance, |
| 16 | Therefore Job openeth his mouth in vain, and multiplieth words without knowledge. | Tôi nghĩ rằng: ông Gióp mở miệng nói chuyện không đâu,vì thiếu hiểu biết mà dài dòng văn tự. | καὶ Ἰὼβ ματαίως ἀνοίγει τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ, ἐν ἀγνωσίᾳ ῥήματα βαρύνει. | וְ֭אִיּוֹב הֶ֣בֶל יִפְצֶה פִּ֑יהוּ בִּבְלִי דַ֝֗עַת מִלִּ֥ין יַכְבִּֽר | Ergo Job frustra aperit os suum, et absque scientia verba multiplicat.] | therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge.” |
