| 2 | Command the children of Israel that they give to the Levites out of their possessions, | “Hãy ra lệnh cho con cái Ít-ra-en phải nhường một số thành, lấy trong gia nghiệp thuộc quyền sở hữu của chúng, cho các người Lê-vi ở; các ngươi cũng sẽ nhường cho các người Lê-vi những đồng cỏ chung quanh các thành ấy. | Σύνταξον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευείταις ἀπὸ τῶν κλήρων κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν πόλεις κατοικεῖν, καὶ τὰ προάστια τῶν πόλεων κύκλῳ αὐτῶν δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευείταις· | צַו֮ אֶת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וְנָתְנ֣וּ לַלְוִיִּ֗ם מִֽנַּחֲלַ֛ת אֲחֻזָּתָ֖ם עָרִ֣ים לָשָׁ֑בֶת וּמִגְרָ֗שׁ לֶֽעָרִים֙ סְבִיבֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם תִּתְּנ֖וּ לַלְוִיִּֽם | Præcipe filiis Israël ut dent Levitis de possessionibus suis | “Command the children of Israel to give to the Levites cities to dwell in out of their inheritance. You shall give pasture lands for the cities around them to the Levites. |
| 3 | Cities to dwell in, and their suburbs round about: that they may abide in the towns, and the suburbs may be for their cattle and beasts: | Các thành ấy sẽ là nơi chúng ở; còn các đồng cỏ thì dành cho mọi thú vật, súc vật và các vật dụng của chúng. | καὶ ἔσονται αὐτοῖς αἱ πόλεις κατοικεῖν, καὶ τὰ ἀφορίσματα αὐτῶν ἔσται τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς τετράποσιν αὐτῶν. | וְהָי֧וּ הֶֽעָרִ֛ים לָהֶ֖ם לָשָׁ֑בֶת וּמִגְרְשֵׁיהֶ֗ם יִהְי֤וּ לִבְהֶמְתָּם֙ וְלִרְכֻשָׁ֔ם וּלְכֹ֖ל חַיָּתָֽם | urbes ad habitandum, et suburbana earum per circuitum: ut ipsi in oppidis maneant, et suburbana sint pecoribus ac jumentis: | They shall have the cities to dwell in. Their pasture lands shall be for their livestock, and for their possessions, and for all their animals. |
| 4 | Which suburbs shall reach from the walls of the cities outward, a thousand paces on every side: | Đồng cỏ chung quanh những thành các ngươi nhường cho người Lê-vi, sẽ rộng năm trăm thước kể từ tường thành trở ra. | καὶ τὰ συνκυροῦντα τῶν πόλεων ἃς δώσετε τοῖς Λευείταις ἀπὸ τείχους τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἔξω δισχιλίους πήχεις κύκλῳ· | וּמִגְרְשֵׁי֙ הֶֽעָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּתְּנ֖וּ לַלְוִיִּ֑ם מִקִּ֤יר הָעִיר֙ וָח֔וּצָה אֶ֥לֶף אַמָּ֖ה סָבִֽיב | quæ a muris civitatum forinsecus, per circuitum, mille passuum spatio tendentur. | “The pasture lands of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outward one thousand cubits around it. |
| 5 | Toward the east shall be two thousand cubits: and toward the south in like manner shall be two thousand cubits: toward the sea also, which looketh to the west, shall be the same extent: and the north side shall be bounded with the like limits. And the cities shall be in the midst, and the suburbs without. | Bên ngoài thành, các ngươi sẽ đo một ngàn thước phía đông, một ngàn thước phía nam, một ngàn thước phía tây, một ngàn thước phía bắc, còn thành thì ở giữa; đó sẽ là đồng cỏ thuộc các thành của chúng. | καὶ μετρήσεις ἔξω τῆς πόλεως τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς λίβα δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς θάλασσαν δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς βορρᾶν δισχιλίους πήχεις· καὶ ἡ πόλις μέσον τούτου ἔσται ὑμῖν, καὶ τὰ ὅμορα τῶν πόλεων. | וּמַדֹּתֶ֞ם מִח֣וּץ לָעִ֗יר אֶת פְּאַת קֵ֣דְמָה אַלְפַּ֪יִם בָּֽאַמָּ֟ה וְאֶת פְּאַת נֶגֶב֩ אַלְפַּ֨יִם בָּאַמָּ֜ה וְאֶת פְּאַת יָ֣ם אַלְפַּ֣יִם בָּֽאַמָּ֗ה וְאֵ֨ת פְּאַ֥ת צָפ֛וֹן אַלְפַּ֥יִם בָּאַמָּ֖ה וְהָעִ֣יר בַּתָּ֑וֶךְ זֶ֚ה יִהְיֶ֣ה לָהֶ֔ם מִגְרְשֵׁ֖י הֶעָרִֽים | Contra orientem duo millia erunt cubiti, et contra meridiem similiter erunt duo millia: ad mare quoque, quod respicit ad occidentem, eadem mensura erit, et septentrionalis plaga æquali termino finietur, eruntque urbes in medio, et foris suburbana. | You shall measure outside of the city for the east side two thousand cubits, and for the south side two thousand cubits, and for the west side two thousand cubits, and for the north side two thousand cubits, the city being in the middle. This shall be the pasture lands of their cities. |
| 6 | And among the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, six shall be separated for refuge to fugitives, that he who hath shed blood may flee to them: and besides these there shall be other forty-two cities, | Những thành các ngươi nhường cho người Lê-vi sẽ là sáu thành trú ẩn: các ngươi để cho kẻ sát nhân đến đó nương náu; ngoài ra, các ngươi sẽ nhường thêm bốn mươi hai thành nữa. | καὶ τὰς πόλεις δώσετε τοῖς Λευείταις, τὰς ἓξ πόλεις τῶν φυγαδευτηρίων ἃς δώσετε φεύγειν ἐκεῖ τῷ φονεύσαντι, καὶ πρὸς ταύταις τεσσεράκοντα καὶ δύο πόλεις· | וְאֵ֣ת הֶֽעָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּתְּנוּ֙ לַלְוִיִּ֔ם אֵ֚ת שֵׁשׁ עָרֵ֣י הַמִּקְלָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּתְּנ֔וּ לָנֻ֥ס שָׁ֖מָּה הָרֹצֵ֑חַ וַעֲלֵיהֶ֣ם תִּתְּנ֔וּ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁתַּ֖יִם עִֽיר | De ipsis autem oppidis, quæ Levitis dabitis, sex erunt in fugitivorum auxilia separata, ut fugiat ad ea qui fuderit sanguinem: et exceptis his, alia quadraginta duo oppida, | “The cities which you shall give to the Levites, they shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the man slayer to flee to. Besides them you shall give forty-two cities. |

| 8 | And of these cities which shall be given out of the possessions of the children of Israel, from them that have more, more shall be taken: and from them that have less, fewer. Each shall give towns to the Levites according to the extent of their inheritance. | Các thành được nhường là những thành lấy trong số các thành thuộc quyền sở hữu của con cái Ít-ra-en: chi tộc nào có nhiều, các ngươi sẽ lấy nhiều; chi tộc nào có ít, các ngươi sẽ lấy ít; mỗi chi tộc sẽ nhường một số thành của mình cho người Lê-vi, tuỳ theo phần gia nghiệp mình đã nhận được.”Đnl 9,1-13; Gr 20,1-9 | καὶ τὰς πόλεις ἃς δώσετε ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, ἀπὸ τῶν τὰ πολλὰ πολλά, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐλαττόνων ἐλάττω· ἕκαστος κατὰ τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ ἣν κληρονομήσουσιν, δώσουσιν ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων τοῖς Λευείταις. | וְהֶֽעָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּתְּנוּ֙ מֵאֲחֻזַּ֣ת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵאֵ֤ת הָרַב֙ תַּרְבּ֔וּ וּמֵאֵ֥ת הַמְעַ֖ט תַּמְעִ֑יטוּ אִ֗ישׁ כְּפִ֤י נַחֲלָתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִנְחָ֔לוּ יִתֵּ֥ן מֵעָרָ֖יו לַלְוִיִּֽם | Ipsæque urbes, quæ dabuntur de possessionibus filiorum Israël, ab his qui plus habent, plures auferentur: et qui minus, pauciores: singuli juxta mensuram hæreditatis suæ dabunt oppida Levitis. | Concerning the cities which you shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the many you shall take many, and from the few you shall take few. Everyone according to his inheritance which he inherits shall give some of his cities to the Levites.” |

| 10 | Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: When you shall have passed over the Jordan into the land of Chanaan, | “Hãy bảo con cái Ít-ra-en rằng: Khi đi qua sông Gio-đan vào đất Ca-na-an, | Λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς Ὑμεῖς διαβαίνετε τὸν Ἰορδάνην εἰς γῆν Χανάαν, | דַּבֵּר֙ אֶל בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם כִּ֥י אַתֶּ֛ם עֹבְרִ֥ים אֶת הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן אַ֥רְצָה כְּנָֽעַן | Loquere filiis Israël, et dices ad eos: Quando transgressi fueritis Jordanem in terram Chanaan, | “Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan, |
| 11 | Determine what cities shall be for the refuge of fugitives, who have shed blood against their will. | các ngươi sẽ chọn một số thành làm thành trú ẩn cho các ngươi; kẻ nào đã vô ý làm thiệt mạng ai, thì sẽ có thể đến đó nương náu. | καὶ διαστελεῖτε ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς πόλεις· φυγαδευτήρια ἔσται ὑμῖν, φυγεῖν ἐκεῖ τὸν φονευτήν, πᾶς ὁ πατάξας ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως. | וְהִקְרִיתֶ֤ם לָכֶם֙ עָרִ֔ים עָרֵ֥י מִקְלָ֖ט תִּהְיֶ֣ינָה לָכֶ֑ם וְנָ֥ס שָׁ֨מָּה֙ רֹצֵ֔חַ מַכֵּה נֶ֖פֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָֽה | decernite quæ urbes esse debeant in præsidia fugitivorum, qui nolentes sanguinem fuderint: | then you shall appoint for yourselves cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the man slayer who kills any person unwittingly may flee there. |
| 12 | And when the fugitive shall be in them, the kinsman of him that is slain may not have power to kill him, until he stand before the multitude, and his cause be judged. | Các thành ấy sẽ là nơi các ngươi trú ẩn để tránh người đòi nợ máu, và như thế kẻ sát nhân sẽ không phải chết khi chưa được xét xử trước mặt cộng đồng. | καὶ ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις ὑμῖν φυγαδευτήρια ἀπὸ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ φονεύων ἕως ἂν στῇ ἔναντι τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς κρίσιν. | וְהָי֨וּ לָכֶ֧ם הֶעָרִ֛ים לְמִקְלָ֖ט מִגֹּאֵ֑ל וְלֹ֤א יָמוּת֙ הָרֹצֵ֔חַ עַד עָמְד֛וֹ לִפְנֵ֥י הָעֵדָ֖ה לַמִּשְׁפָּֽט | in quibus cum fuerit profugus, cognatus occisi non poterit eum occidere, donec stet in conspectu multitudinis, et causa illius judicetur. | The cities shall be for your refuge from the avenger, that the man slayer not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment. |
| 13 | And of those cities, that are separated for the refuge of fugitives, | Trong số những thành các ngươi nhường sẽ có sáu thành trú ẩn cho các ngươi: | καὶ αἱ πόλεις ἃς δώσετε, τὰς ἓξ πόλεις, φυγαδευτήρια ἔσονται ὑμῖν· | וְהֶעָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּתֵּ֑נוּ שֵׁשׁ עָרֵ֥י מִקְלָ֖ט תִּהְיֶ֥ינָה לָכֶֽם | De ipsis autem urbibus, quæ ad fugitivorum subsidia separantur, | The cities which you shall give shall be for you six cities of refuge. |
| 14 | Three shall be beyond the Jordan, and three in the land of Chanaan, | ba thành các ngươi nhường bên kia sông Gio-đan, và ba thành các ngươi nhường trên đất Ca-na-an, sẽ là những thành trú ẩn. | τρεῖς πόλεις δώσετε πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ τὰς τρεῖς πόλεις δώσετε ἐν τῇ γῇ Χανάαν. | אֵ֣ת שְׁלֹ֣שׁ הֶעָרִ֗ים תִּתְּנוּ֙ מֵעֵ֣בֶר לַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְאֵת֙ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ הֶֽעָרִ֔ים תִּתְּנ֖וּ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן עָרֵ֥י מִקְלָ֖ט תִּהְיֶֽינָה | tres erunt trans Jordanem, et tres in terra Chanaan, | You shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and you shall give three cities in the land of Canaan. They shall be cities of refuge. |
| 15 | As well for the children of Israel as for strangers and sojourners, that he may flee to them, who hath shed blood against his will. | Sáu thành đó sẽ là nơi trú ẩn cho con cái Ít-ra-en, cũng như cho khách ngoại kiều và người trú ngụ giữa các ngươi. Kẻ nào đã vô ý làm thiệt mạng ai, thì sẽ có thể đến đó nương náu. | φυγάδιον ἔσται τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ, καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ ἐν ὑμῖν· ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις αὗται εἰς φυγαδευτήριον, φυγεῖν ἐκεῖ παντὶ πατάξαντι ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως. | לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וְלַגֵּ֤ר וְלַתּוֹשָׁב֙ בְּתוֹכָ֔ם תִּהְיֶ֛ינָה שֵׁשׁ הֶעָרִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה לְמִקְלָ֑ט לָנ֣וּס שָׁ֔מָּה כָּל מַכֵּה נֶ֖פֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָֽה | tam filiis Israël quam advenis atque peregrinis, ut confugiat ad eas qui nolens sanguinem fuderit. | These six cities shall be refuge for the children of Israel, for the stranger, and for the foreigner living among them, that everyone who kills any person unwittingly may flee there. |
| 16 | If any man strike with iron, and he die that was struck: he shall be guilty of murder, and he himself shall die. | Ai dùng đồ sắt mà đánh người khác chết, thì là kẻ sát nhân. Kẻ sát nhân sẽ phải bị xử tử. | ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει σιδήρου πατάξῃ αὐτὸν καὶ τελευτήσῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής. | וְאִם בִּכְלִ֨י בַרְזֶ֧ל הִכָּ֛הוּ וַיָּמֹ֖ת רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא מ֥וֹת יוּמַ֖ת הָרֹצֵֽחַ | Si quis ferro percusserit, et mortuus fuerit qui percussus est, reus erit homicidii, et ipse morietur. | “‘But if he struck him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. |
| 17 | If he throw a stone, and he that is struck die: he shall be punished in the same manner. | Ai cầm trong tay một hòn đá chết người mà đánh người khác chết, thì là kẻ sát nhân. Kẻ sát nhân sẽ phải bị xử tử. | ἐὰν δὲ ἐν λίθῳ ἐκ χειρὸς ἐν ᾧ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής. | וְאִ֡ם בְּאֶ֣בֶן יָד֩ אֲשֶׁר יָמ֨וּת בָּ֥הּ הִכָּ֛הוּ וַיָּמֹ֖ת רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא מ֥וֹת יוּמַ֖ת הָרֹצֵֽחַ | Si lapidem jecerit, et ictus occubuerit, similiter punietur. | If he struck him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. |
| 18 | If he that is struck with wood die: he shall be revenged by the blood of him that struck him. | Ai cầm trong tay đồ vật bằng gỗ có thể giết người mà đánh người khác chết, thì là kẻ sát nhân. Kẻ sát nhân sẽ phải bị xử tử. | ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει ξυλίνῳ ἐκ χειρὸς ἐξ οὗ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής· | א֡וֹ בִּכְלִ֣י עֵֽץ יָד֩ אֲשֶׁר יָמ֨וּת בּ֥וֹ הִכָּ֛הוּ וַיָּמֹ֖ת רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא מ֥וֹת יוּמַ֖ת הָרֹצֵֽחַ | Si ligno percussus interierit, percussoris sanguine vindicabitur. | Or if he struck him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. |
| 19 | The kinsman of him that was slain, shall kill the murderer: as soon as he apprehendeth him, he shall kill him. | Chính người đòi nợ máu sẽ giết kẻ sát nhân; khi gặp tên sát nhân, người đó sẽ giết nó. | ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα, οὗτος ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα· ὅταν συναντήσῃ αὐτῷ οὗτος, ἀποκτενεῖ αὐτόν. | גֹּאֵ֣ל הַדָּ֔ם ה֥וּא יָמִ֖ית אֶת הָרֹצֵ֑חַ בְּפִגְעוֹ ב֖וֹ ה֥וּא יְמִיתֶֽנּוּ | Propinquus occisi, homicidam interficiet: statim ut apprehenderit eum, interficiet. | The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he shall put him to death. |
| 20 | If through hatred any one push a man, or fling any thing at him with ill design: | Nếu ai vì căm hờn mà xô ngã người khác, hay cố tình ném vật gì trúng người ấy, làm cho người ấy chết, | ἐὰν δὲ δι᾽ ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπιρίψει ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος ἐξ ἐνέδρου, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, | וְאִם בְּשִׂנְאָ֖ה יֶהְדָּפֶ֑נּוּ אֽוֹ הִשְׁלִ֥יךְ עָלָ֛יו בִּצְדִיָּ֖ה וַיָּמֹֽת | Si per odium quis hominem impulerit, vel jecerit quippiam in eum per insidias: | If he shoved him out of hatred, or hurled something at him while lying in wait, so that he died, |
| 21 | Or being his enemy, strike; him with his hand, and he die: the striker shall be guilty of murder: the kinsman of him that was slain as soon as he findeth him, shall kill him. | hoặc ai vì thù ghét mà giơ tay đánh người ấy chết, kẻ đã đánh sẽ bị xử tử: đó là một kẻ sát nhân. | 25 | The innocent shall be delivered from the hand of the revenger, and shall be brought back by sentence into the city, to which he had fled, and he shall abide there until the death of the high priest, that is anointed with the holy oil. | Cộng đồng sẽ gỡ kẻ sát nhân khỏi tay người đòi nợ máu, rồi đưa nó trở về thành trú ẩn là nơi nó đã tới nương náu. Nó sẽ ở lại đó cho đến khi thượng tế, là người đã được xức dầu thánh, qua đời. | καὶ ἐξελεῖται ἡ συναγωγὴ τὸν φονεύσαντα ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα, καὶ ἀποκαταστήσουσιν αὐτὸν ἡ συναγωγὴ εἰς τὴν πόλιν τοῦ φυγαδευτηρίου αὐτοῦ οὗ κατέφυγεν, καὶ κατοικήσῃ ἐκεῖ ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας, ὃν ἔχρισαν αὐτὸν τῷ ἐλαίῳ τῷ ἁγίῳ. | וְהִצִּ֨ילוּ הָעֵדָ֜ה אֶת הָרֹצֵ֗חַ מִיַּד֮ גֹּאֵ֣ל הַדָּם֒ וְהֵשִׁ֤יבוּ אֹתוֹ֙ הָֽעֵדָ֔ה אֶל עִ֥יר מִקְלָט֖וֹ אֲשֶׁר נָ֣ס שָׁ֑מָּה וְיָ֣שַׁב בָּ֗הּ עַד מוֹת֙ הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּדֹ֔ל אֲשֶׁר מָשַׁ֥ח אֹת֖וֹ בְּשֶׁ֥מֶן הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ | liberabitur innocens de ultoris manu, et reducetur per sententiam in urbem, ad quam confugerat, manebitque ibi, donec sacerdos magnus, qui oleo sancto unctus est, moriatur. | The congregation shall deliver the man slayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, where he had fled. He shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil. |

| 27 | And be struck by him that is the avenger of blood: he shall not be guilty that killed him. | và người đòi nợ máu gặp thấy nó bên ngoài ranh giới thành nó trú ẩn, và giết nó, thì không mắc tội đổ máu. | καὶ εὕρῃ αὐτὸν ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα ἔξω τῶν ὁρίων τῆς πόλεως καταφυγῆς αὐτοῦ, καὶ φονεύσῃ ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα τὸν φονεύσαντα, οὐκ ἔνοχός ἐστιν· | וּמָצָ֤א אֹתוֹ֙ גֹּאֵ֣ל הַדָּ֔ם מִח֕וּץ לִגְב֖וּל עִ֣יר מִקְלָט֑וֹ וְרָצַ֞ח גֹּאֵ֤ל הַדָּם֙ אֶת הָ֣רֹצֵ֔חַ אֵ֥ין ל֖וֹ דָּֽם | fuerit inventus, et percussus ab eo qui ultor est sanguinis: absque noxa erit qui eum occiderit. | and the avenger of blood finds him outside of the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the man slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood, |
| 28 | For the fugitive ought to have stayed in the city until the death of the high priest: and after he is dead, then shall the manslayer return to his own country. | Vì kẻ sát nhân phải ở lại trong thành nó trú ẩn cho đến khi thượng tế qua đời; chỉ khi nào thượng tế qua đời, kẻ sát nhân mới được trở về đất sở hữu của nó. | ἐν γὰρ τῇ πόλει τῆς καταφυγῆς κατοικείτω ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας· μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν ἱερέα τὸν μέγαν ἐπαναστραφήσεται ὁ φονεύσας εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς κατασχέσεως αὐτοῦ. | כִּ֣י בְעִ֤יר מִקְלָטוֹ֙ יֵשֵׁ֔ב עַד מ֖וֹת הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּדֹ֑ל וְאַחֲרֵ֥י מוֹת֙ הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּדֹ֔ל יָשׁוּב֙ הָרֹצֵ֔חַ אֶל אֶ֖רֶץ אֲחֻזָּתֽוֹ | Debuerat enim profugus usque ad mortem pontificis in urbe residere. Postquam autem ille obierit, homicida revertetur in terram suam. | because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest, the man slayer shall return into the land of his possession. |
| 29 | These things shall be perpetual, and for an ordinance in all your dwellings. | Đó sẽ là những quy tắc pháp lý các ngươi phải tuân giữ qua mọi thế hệ, tại bất cứ nơi nào các ngươi ở. | καὶ ἔσται ταῦτα ὑμῖν εἰς δικαίωμα κρίματος εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν ἐν πάσαις ταῖς κατοικίαις ὑμῶν. | וְהָי֨וּ אֵ֧לֶּה לָכֶ֛ם לְחֻקַּ֥ת מִשְׁפָּ֖ט לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶ֑ם בְּכֹ֖ל מוֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶֽם | Hæc sempiterna erunt, et legitima in cunctis habitationibus vestris. | “‘These things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. |

No atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him who shed it. |
