Let him weigh me in a just balance, and let God know my simplicity. | thì Thiên Chúa cứ cân tôi trên bàn cân chính xácvà Người sẽ nhận thấy tôi toàn vẹn. | ⸂⸆⸃ ἕσταμαι γὰρ ἐν ζυγῷ δικαίῳ, οἶδεν δὲ ὁ κύριος τὴν ἀκακίαν μου· | יִשְׁקְלֵ֥נִי בְמֹאזְנֵי צֶ֑דֶק וְיֵדַ֥ע אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ תֻּמָּתִֽי | appendat me in statera justa, et sciat Deus simplicitatem meam. | (let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity);
If my step hath turned out of the way, and if my heart hath followed my eyes, and if a spot hath cleaved to my hands: | Nếu chân tôi đi trệch đường,lòng chiều theo con mắt, và tay dính vết nhơ, | εἰ ἐξέκλινεν ὁ πούς μου ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ, εἰ δὲ καὶ τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ ἐπηκολούθησεν ἡ καρδία μου, εἰ δὲ καὶ ταῖς χερσίν μου ἡψάμην δώρων· | אִ֥ם תִּטֶּ֣ה אַשֻּׁרִי֮ מִנִּ֪י הַ֫דָּ֥רֶךְ וְאַחַ֣ר עֵ֭ינַי הָלַ֣ךְ לִבִּ֑י וּ֝בְכַפַּ֗י דָּ֣בַק מֻאֽוּם | Si declinavit gressus meus de via, et si secutum est oculos meos cor meum, et si manibus meis adhæsit macula, | if my step has turned out of the way, if my heart walked after my eyes, if any defilement has stuck to my hands,

Yes, it would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges, |
It is a fire that devoureth even to destruction, and rooteth up all things that spring. | for it is a fire that consumes to destruction, and would root out all my increase.
If I have despised to abide judgment with my manservant, or my maidservant, when they had any controversy against me: | Giả như tôi chà đạp quyền lợicủa tôi trai tớ gái đang tranh tụng với tôi, | εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐφαύλισα κρίμα θεράποντός μου ἢ θεραπαίνης, κρινομένων αὐτῶν πρὸς μέ· | אִם אֶמְאַ֗ס מִשְׁפַּ֣ט עַ֭בְדִּי וַאֲמָתִ֑י בְּ֝רִבָ֗ם עִמָּדִֽי | Si contempsi subire judicium cum servo meo et ancilla mea, cum disceptarent adversum me: | “If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,

Did not he that made me in the womb make him also: and did not one and the same form me in the womb? | הֲֽ֝לֹא בַ֭בֶּטֶן עֹשֵׂ֣נִי עָשָׂ֑הוּ וַ֝יְכֻנֶ֗נּוּ בָּרֶ֥חֶם אֶחָֽד | Numquid non in utero fecit me, qui et illum operatus est, et formavit me in vulva unus? | Didn’t he who made me in the womb make him? Didn’t one fashion us in the womb?
If I have denied to the poor what they desired, and have made the eyes of the widow wait: | Phải chăng tôi từ chối ước vọng của người nghèo,làm cho mắt goá phụ mỏi mòn vì trông ngóng? | ἀδύνατοι δὲ χρείαν ἥν ποτ᾽ εἶχον οὐκ ἀπέτυχον, χήρας δὲ τὸν ὀφθαλμὸν οὐκ ἐξέτηξα· | אִם אֶ֭מְנַע מֵחֵ֣פֶץ דַּלִּ֑ים וְעֵינֵ֖י אַלְמָנָ֣ה אֲכַלֶּֽה | Si negavi quod volebant pauperibus, et oculos viduæ expectare feci; | “If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

(For from my infancy mercy grew up with me: and it came out with me from my mother’s womb:) | Từ thuở thanh xuân, tôi đã nuôi nó như một dưỡng phụvà đã hướng dẫn nó ngay từ lúc tôi lọt lòng mẫu thân. | ὅτι ἐκ νεότητός μου ἐξέτρεφον ὡς πατήρ, καὶ ἐκ γαστρὸς μητρός μου ὡδήγησα· | כִּ֣י מִ֭נְּעוּרַי גְּדֵלַ֣נִי כְאָ֑ב וּמִבֶּ֖טֶן אִמִּ֣י אַנְחֶֽנָּה | (quia ab infantia mea crevit mecum miseratio, et de utero matris meæ egressa est mecum); | (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, I have guided her from my mother’s womb);
If I have despised him that was perishing for want of clothing, and the poor man that had no covering: | Phải chăng tôi đã thấy một kẻ khốn cùng không áo mặc,thấy một người nghèo không mền đắp, | εἰ δὲ καὶ ὑπερεῖδον γυμνὸν ἀπολλύμενον καὶ οὐκ ἠμφίασα αὐτόν· | אִם אֶרְאֶ֣ה א֭וֹבֵד מִבְּלִ֣י לְב֑וּשׁ וְאֵ֥ין כְּ֝ס֗וּת לָאֶבְיֽוֹן | si despexi pereuntem, eo quod non habuerit indumentum, et absque operimento pauperem; | if I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or that the needy had no covering;
If his sides have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep: | mà họ lại không chúc lành cho tôi,vì nhờ lông chiên của tôi mà được ấm? | ἀδύνατοι δὲ εἰ μὴ εὐλόγησάν με, ἀπὸ δὲ κουρᾶς ἀμνῶν μου ἐθερμάνθησαν οἱ ὦμοι αὐτῶν· | אִם לֹ֣א בֵרֲכ֣וּנִי חלצו חֲלָצָ֑יו וּמִגֵּ֥ז כְּ֝בָשַׂי יִתְחַמָּֽם | si non benedixerunt mihi latera ejus, et de velleribus ovium mearum calefactus est; | if his heart hasn’t blessed me, if he hasn’t been warmed with my sheep’s fleece;
If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, even when I saw myself superior in the gate: | Phải chăng tôi đã giơ tay đánh trẻ mồ côi,vì biết mình được nâng đỡ nơi cổng thành? | εἰ ἐπῆρα ὀρφανῷ χεῖρα, πεποιθὼς ὅτι πολλή μοι βοήθεια περίεστιν, | אִם הֲנִיפ֣וֹתִי עַל יָת֣וֹם יָדִ֑י כִּֽי אֶרְאֶ֥ה בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר עֶזְרָתִֽי | si levavi super pupillum manum meam, etiam cum viderem me in porta superiorem: | if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate;
Let my shoulder fall from its joint, and let my arm with its bones be broken. | Nếu thế thì đầu tôi phải lìa khỏi cổvà cánh tay tôi phải đứt khỏi khuỷu tay. | כְּ֭תֵפִי מִשִּׁכְמָ֣ה תִפּ֑וֹל וְ֝אֶזְרֹעִ֗י מִקָּנָ֥ה תִשָּׁבֵֽר | humerus meus a junctura sua cadat, et brachium meum cum suis ossibus confringatur. | then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, and my arm be broken from the bone.
For I have always feared God as waves swelling over me, and his weight I was not able to bear. | כִּ֤י פַ֣חַד אֵ֭לַי אֵ֣יד אֵ֑ל וּ֝מִשְּׂאֵת֗וֹ לֹ֣א אוּכָֽל | Semper enim quasi tumentes super me fluctus timui Deum, et pondus ejus ferre non potui. | For calamity from God is a terror to me. Because of his majesty, I can do nothing.
If I have thought gold my strength, and have said to fine gold: My confidence: | Phải chăng tôi lấy vàng làm bảo đảmvà nói với vàng ròng: “Ngươi là chốn an toàn của ta!” | εἰ ἔταξα χρυσίον εἰς χοῦν μου, εἰ δὲ καὶ λίθῳ πολυτελεῖ ἐπεποίθησα, | אִם שַׂ֣מְתִּי זָהָ֣ב כִּסְלִ֑י וְ֝לַכֶּ֗תֶם אָמַ֥רְתִּי מִבְטַחִֽי | Si putavi aurum robur meum, et obrizo dixi: Fiducia mea; | “If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold, ‘You are my confidence;’
If I have rejoiced over my great riches, and because my hand had gotten much. | Phải chăng tôi mừng vui vì có nhiều của cải,vì tài sản do tay tôi làm ra? | εἰ δὲ καὶ εὐφράνθην πολλοῦ πλούτου μου γενομένου, εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐπ᾽ ἀναριθμήτοις ἐθέμην χεῖρά μου· | אִם אֶ֭שְׂמַח כִּי רַ֣ב חֵילִ֑י וְכִֽי כַ֝בִּ֗יר מָצְאָ֥ה יָדִֽי | si lætatus sum super multis divitiis meis, et quia plurima reperit manus mea; | If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;
If I beheld the sun when it shined, and the moon going in brightness: | Phải chăng tôi thấy ánh mặt trời rực rỡvà vầng trăng lộng lẫy huy hoàng | ἢ οὐχ ὁρῶμεν ἥλιον τὸν ἐπιφαύσκοντα ἐκλείποντα, σελήνην δὲ φθίνουσαν; οὐ γὰρ ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς ἐστιν· | אִם אֶרְאֶ֣ה א֖וֹר כִּ֣י יָהֵ֑ל וְ֝יָרֵ֗חַ יָקָ֥ר הֹלֵֽךְ | si vidi solem cum fulgeret, et lunam incedentem clare, | if I have seen the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in splendor,
And my heart in secret hath rejoiced, and I have kissed my hand with my mouth: | mà lặng lẽ để cho lòng bị lôi cuốnvà đưa tay lên miệng mà hôn? | καὶ εἰ ἠπατήθη λάθρα ἡ καρδία μου, εἰ δὲ χεῖρά μου ἐπιθεὶς ἐπὶ στόματί μου ἐφίλησα· | וַיִּ֣פְתְּ בַּסֵּ֣תֶר לִבִּ֑י וַתִּשַּׁ֖ק יָדִ֣י לְפִֽי | et lætatum est in abscondito cor meum, et osculatus sum manum meam ore meo: | and my heart has been secretly enticed, and my hand threw a kiss from my mouth;
Which is a very great iniquity, and a denial against the most high God. | this also would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges, for I would have denied the God who is above.
If I have been glad at the downfall of him that hated me, and have rejoiced that evil had found him. | εἰ δὲ καὶ ἐπιχαρὴς ἐγενόμην πτώματι ἐχθρῶν μου, καὶ εἶπεν ἡ καρδία μου Εὖγε· | אִם אֶ֭שְׂמַח בְּפִ֣יד מְשַׂנְאִ֑י וְ֝הִתְעֹרַ֗רְתִּי כִּֽי מְצָ֥אוֹ רָֽע | Si gavisus sum ad ruinam ejus qui me oderat, et exsultavi quod invenisset eum malum: | “If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him
For I have not given my mouth to sin, by wishing a curse to his soul. | Không, tôi không để cho lưỡi tôi phạm tội,không lấy lời nguyền rủa mà phó mặc hồn nó cho tử thần. | ἀκούσαι ἄρα τὸ οὖς μου τὴν κατάραν μου, θρυληθείην δὲ ἄρα ὑπὸ λαοῦ μου κακούμενος. | וְלֹא נָתַ֣תִּי לַחֲטֹ֣א חִכִּ֑י לִשְׁאֹ֖ל בְּאָלָ֣ה נַפְשֽׁוֹ | non enim dedi ad peccandum guttur meum, ut expeterem maledicens animam ejus. | (I have certainly not allowed my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse);
If the men of my tabernacle have not said: Who will give us of his flesh that we may be filled? | if the men of my tent have not said, ‘Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?’
The stranger did not stay without, my door was open to the traveller. | Người xa lạ không phải nghỉ đêm ở ngoài,tôi đã mở cửa đón mời lữ khách. | ἔξω δὲ οὐκ ηὐλίζετο ξένος, ἡ δὲ θύρα μου παντὶ ἐλθόντι ἀνέῳκτο· | בַּ֭חוּץ לֹא יָלִ֣ין גֵּ֑ר דְּ֝לָתַ֗י לָאֹ֥רַח אֶפְתָּֽח | foris non mansit peregrinus: ostium meum viatori patuit. | (the foreigner has not camped in the street, but I have opened my doors to the traveler);
If as a man I have hid my sin, and have concealed my iniquity in my bosom. | εἰ δὲ καὶ ἁμαρτὼν ἀκουσίως ἔκρυψα τὴν ἁμαρτίαν μου, | אִם כִּסִּ֣יתִי כְאָדָ֣ם פְּשָׁעָ֑י לִטְמ֖וֹן בְּחֻבִּ֣י עֲוֺֽנִי | Si abscondi quasi homo peccatum meum, et celavi in sinu meo iniquitatem meam; | if like Adam I have covered my transgressions, by hiding my iniquity in my heart,
If I have been afraid at a very great multitude, and the contempt of kinsmen hath terrified me: and I have not rather held my peace, and not gone out of the door. | because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and didn’t go out of the door—
Who would grant me a hearer, that the Almighty may hear my desire; and that he himself that judgeth would write a book, | Ôi, phải chi có người nghe tiếng tôi!Đây là lời cuối cùng tôi nói, xin Đấng Toàn Năng trả lời cho tôi.Còn bản cáo trạng kẻ thù tôi đã viết, | τίς δῴη ἀκούοντά μου; χεῖρα δὲ Κυρίου εἰ μὴ ἐδεδοίκειν, συγγραφὴν δὲ ἣν εἶχον κατά τινος | מִ֤י יִתֶּן לִ֨י שֹׁ֘מֵ֤עַֽ לִ֗י הֶן תָּ֭וִי שַׁדַּ֣י יַעֲנֵ֑נִי וְסֵ֥פֶר כָּ֝תַ֗ב אִ֣ישׁ רִיבִֽי | Quis mihi tribuat auditorem, ut desiderium meum audiat Omnipotens, et librum scribat ipse qui judicat, | oh that I had one to hear me! I would go near to him like a prince.
If my land cry against me, and with it the furrows thereof mourn: | Giả như đất của tôi kêu lên đòi báo oán,và những luống đất cùng nhau khóc oà, | εἰ ἐπ᾽ ἐμοί ποτε ἡ γῆ ἐστέναξεν, εἰ δὲ καὶ οἱ αὔλακες αὐτῆς ἔκλαυσαν ὁμοθυμαδόν· | אִם עָ֭לַי אַדְמָתִ֣י תִזְעָ֑ק וְ֝יַ֗חַד תְּלָמֶ֥יהָ יִבְכָּיֽוּן | Si adversum me terra mea clamat, et cum ipsa sulci ejus deflent: | If my land cries out against me, and its furrows weep together;
