But now the younger in time scorn me, whose fathers I would not have set with the dogs of my flock:Giờ đây, tôi bị những người ít tuổi hơn nhạo cười,cha ông họ từng bị tôi khinh dểvà xếp vào hạng chó canh bầy vật.νυνὶ δὲ κατεγέλασάν μου· ἐλάχιστοι νῦν νουθετοῦσίν με ἐν μέρει, ⸆ ὧν ἐξουδένουν τοὺς πατέρας αὐτῶν, οὓς οὐχ ἡγησάμην ἀξίους κυνῶν τῶν ἐμῶν νομάδων.וְעַתָּ֤ה שָֽׂחֲק֣וּ עָלַי֮ צְעִירִ֥ים מִמֶּ֗נִּי לְיָ֫מִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר מָאַ֥סְתִּי אֲבוֹתָ֑ם לָ֝שִׁ֗ית עִם כַּלְבֵ֥י צֹאנִֽי[Nunc autem derident me juniores tempore, quorum non dignabar patres ponere cum canibus gregis mei:“But now those who are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I considered unworthy to put with my sheep dogs.
The strength of whose hands was to me as nothing, and they were thought unworthy of life itself.Cánh tay mạnh mẽ của họ làm gì được cho tôi,sinh lực của họ đã tan biến mất rồi.καὶ γε ἰσχὺς χειρῶν αὐτῶν ἵνα τί μοι; ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς ἀπώλετο συντέλεια.גַּם כֹּ֣חַ יְ֭דֵיהֶם לָ֣מָּה לִּ֑י עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ אָ֣בַד כָּֽלַחquorum virtus manuum mihi erat pro nihilo, et vita ipsa putabantur indigni:Of what use is the strength of their hands to me, men in whom ripe age has perished?
Barren with want and hunger, who gnawed in the wilderness, disfigured with calamity and misery.Kiệt lực vì túng thiếu và đói lả:họ phải gặm đất khô trong miền đất hoang tàn đổ nát.ἐν ἐνδείᾳ καὶ λιμῷ ἄγονος, οἱ φεύγοντες ἄνυδρον ἐχθὲς συνοχὴν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν·בְּחֶ֥סֶר וּבְכָפָ֗ן גַּ֫לְמ֥וּד הַֽעֹרְקִ֥ים צִיָּ֑ה אֶ֝֗מֶשׁ שׁוֹאָ֥ה וּמְשֹׁאָֽהegestate et fame steriles, qui rodebant in solitudine, squallentes calamitate et miseria. They are gaunt from lack and famine. They gnaw the dry ground, in the gloom of waste and desolation.
And they ate grass, and barks of trees, and the root of junipers was their food.Họ hái rau lê trong bụi rậm, đào rễ kim tước làm bánh ăn.οἱ περικυκλοῦντες ἅλιμα ἐπὶ ἠχοῦντι, οἵτινες ἅλιμα ἦν αὐτῶν τὰ σῖτα· ἄτιμοι δὲ καὶ πεφαυλισμένοι, ἐνδεεῖς παντὸς ἀγαθοῦ. Et mandebant herbas, et arborum cortices, et radix juniperorum erat cibus eorum:They pluck salt herbs by the bushes. The roots of the broom tree are their food.
Who snatched up these things out of the valleys, and when they had found any of them, they ran to them with a cry.Họ bị đuổi ra khỏi cộng đoàn, và bị đối xử như quân trộm cắp.ἐπανέστησάν μοι κλέπται,מִן גֵּ֥ו יְגֹרָ֑שׁוּ יָרִ֥יעוּ עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ כַּגַּנָּֽבqui de convallibus ista rapientes, cum singula reperissent, ad ea cum clamore currebant. They are driven out from among men. They cry after them as after a thief,
They dwelt in the desert places of torrents, and in caves of earth, or upon the gravel.Họ phải sống ở bên bờ khe, trong các hầm đất và hốc đá.ὧν οἱ οἶκοι αὐτῶν ἦσαν τρῶγλαι πετρῶν·בַּעֲר֣וּץ נְחָלִ֣ים לִשְׁכֹּ֑ן חֹרֵ֖י עָפָ֣ר וְכֵפִֽיםIn desertis habitabant torrentium, et in cavernis terræ, vel super glaream:so that they live in frightful valleys, and in holes of the earth and of the rocks.
They pleased themselves among these kind of things, and counted it delightful to be under the briers.Họ rống lên trong những bụi rậm,chen chúc nhau giữa các đám gai.ἀνὰ μέσον εὐήχων βοήσονται οἳ ὑπὸ φρύγανα ἄγρια διῃτῶντο·בֵּין שִׂיחִ֥ים יִנְהָ֑קוּ תַּ֖חַת חָר֣וּל יְסֻפָּֽחוּqui inter hujuscemodi lætabantur, et esse sub sentibus delicias computabant:They bray among the bushes. They are gathered together under the nettles.
The children of foolish and base men, and not appearing at all upon the earth. בְּֽנֵי נָ֭בָל גַּם בְּנֵ֣י בְלִי שֵׁ֑ם נִ֝כְּא֗וּ מִן הָאָֽרֶץfilii stultorum et ignobilium, et in terra penitus non parentes. They are children of fools, yes, children of wicked men. They were flogged out of the land.
Now I am turned into their song, and am become their byword. Nunc in eorum canticum versus sum, et factus sum eis in proverbium.“Now I have become their song. Yes, I am a byword to them.
They abhor me, and flee far from me, and are not afraid to spit in my face.Họ gớm ghiếc và lánh xa tôi,nhổ vào mặt tôi không chút ngần ngại.ἐβδελύξαντο δέ με ἀποστάντες μακράν, ἀπὸ δὲ προσώπου μου οὐκ ἐφείσαντο πτύελον. Abominantur me, et longe fugiunt a me, et faciem meam conspuere non verentur. They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, and don’t hesitate to spit in my face.
For he hath opened his quiver, and hath afflicted me, and hath put a bridle into my mouth.Bởi vì Thiên Chúa nới lỏng dây cung của tôi,Người làm tôi bị nhục, nên họ cũng chẳng coi tôi ra gì.ἀνοίξας γὰρ φαρέτραν αὐτοῦ ἐκάκωσέν με, καὶ χαλινὸν τοῦ προσώπου μου ἐξαπέστειλεν. For he has untied his cord, and afflicted me; and they have thrown off restraint before me.
At the right hand of my rising, my calamities forthwith arose: they have overthrown my feet, and have overwhelmed me with their paths as with waves.Bên phải tôi, một đám người nổi dậy,họ làm tôi trượt chân, còn mở đường cho bất hạnh ập tới.ἐπὶ δεξιῶν βλαστοῦ ἐπανέστησαν, πόδα αὐτῶν ἐξέτειναν καὶ ὡδοποίησαν ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ τρίβους ἀπωλείας αὐτῶν. On my right hand rise the rabble. They thrust aside my feet. They cast their ways of destruction up against me.
They have destroyed my ways, they have lain in wait against me, and they have prevailed, and there was none to help.Họ phá huỷ con đường tôi đi để tiêu diệt tôi,tiến đánh tôi không cần ai giúp đỡ.ἐξετρίβησαν τρίβοι μου, ἐξέδυσαν γάρ μου τὴν στολήν·נָתְס֗וּ נְֽתִיבָ֫תִ֥י לְהַוָּתִ֥י יֹעִ֑ילוּ לֹ֖א עֹזֵ֣ר לָֽמוֹDissipaverunt itinera mea; insidiati sunt mihi, et prævaluerunt: et non fuit qui ferret auxilium. They mar my path. They promote my destruction without anyone’s help.
They have rushed in upon me, as when a wall is broken, and a gate opened, and have rolled themselves down to my miseries.Họ ùa vào như đi qua một lỗ hổng lớn,băng mình qua đống đổ nát hoang tàn.βέλεσιν αὐτοῦ κατηκόντισέν με, κέχρηταί μοι ὡς βούλεται· ἐν ὀδύναις πέφυρμαι.כְּפֶ֣רֶץ רָחָ֣ב יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ תַּ֥חַת שֹׁ֝אָ֗ה הִתְגַּלְגָּֽלוּQuasi rupto muro, et aperta janua, irruerunt super me, et ad meas miserias devoluti sunt.As through a wide breach they come. They roll themselves in amid the ruin.
I am brought to nothing: as a wind thou hast taken away my desire: and my prosperity hath passed away like a cloud. הָהְפַּ֥ךְ עָלַ֗י בַּלָּ֫ה֥וֹת תִּרְדֹּ֣ף כָּ֭רוּחַ נְדִבָתִ֑י וּ֝כְעָ֗ב עָבְרָ֥ה יְשֻׁעָתִֽיRedactus sum in nihilum: abstulisti quasi ventus desiderium meum, et velut nubes pertransiit salus mea.Terrors have turned on me. They chase my honor as the wind. My welfare has passed away as a cloud.
And now my soul fadeth within myself, and the days of affliction possess me.Và giờ đây mạng sống tôi tàn lụi,những ngày khốn khổ vây bọc lấy tôi.καὶ νῦν ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐκχυθήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου, ἔχουσιν δέ με ἡμέραι ὀδυνῶν·וְעַתָּ֗ה עָ֭לַי תִּשְׁתַּפֵּ֣ךְ נַפְשִׁ֑י יֹ֭אחֲז֣וּנִי יְמֵי עֹֽנִיNunc autem in memetipso marcescit anima mea, et possident me dies afflictionis.“Now my soul is poured out within me. Days of affliction have taken hold of me.
In the night my bone is pierced with sorrows: and they that feed upon me, do not sleep. In the night season my bones are pierced in me, and the pains that gnaw me take no rest.
With the multitude of them my garment is consumed, and they have girded me about, as with the collar of my coat. In multitudine eorum consumitur vestimentum meum, et quasi capito tunicæ succinxerunt me.My garment is disfigured by great force. It binds me about as the collar of my tunic.
I am compared to dirt, and am likened to embers and ashes. Comparatus sum luto, et assimilatus sum favillæ et cineri. He has cast me into the mire. I have become like dust and ashes.
I cry to thee, and thou hearest me not: I stand up, and thou dost not regard me.Con kêu lên Ngài, nhưng Ngài không đáp,con trình diện Ngài, nhưng Ngài chẳng lưu tâm.κέκραγα δὲ πρὸς σὲ καὶ οὐκ ἀκούεις μου, ἔστησαν δὲ καὶ κατενόησάν με·אֲשַׁוַּ֣ע אֵ֭לֶיךָ וְלֹ֣א תַעֲנֵ֑נִי עָ֝מַ֗דְתִּי וַתִּתְבֹּ֥נֶן בִּֽיClamo ad te, et non exaudis me: sto, et non respicis me.I cry to you, and you do not answer me. I stand up, and you gaze at me.
Thou art changed to be cruel toward me, and in the hardness of thy hand thou art against me.Ngài đối xử với con tàn nhẫn,giương cánh tay mạnh mẽ đánh phạt con.ἐπέβησαν δέ μοι ἀνελεημόνως, χειρὶ κραταιᾷ με ἐμαστίγωσας·תֵּהָפֵ֣ךְ לְאַכְזָ֣ר לִ֑י בְּעֹ֖צֶם יָדְךָ֣ תִשְׂטְמֵֽנִיMutatus es mihi in crudelem, et in duritia manus tuæ adversaris mihi. You have turned to be cruel to me. With the might of your hand you persecute me.
Thou hast lifted me up, and set me as it were upon the wind, and thou hast mightily dashed me.Ngài nâng con lên, cho cỡi mây đạp gió,làm con tan chảy trong dông tố bão bùng.ἔταξας δέ με ἐν ὀδύναις, καὶ ἀπέρριψάς με ἀπὸ σωτηρίας. Elevasti me, et quasi super ventum ponens; elisisti me valide. You lift me up to the wind, and drive me with it. You dissolve me in the storm.
I know that thou wilt deliver me to death, where a house is appointed for every one that liveth. Scio quia morti trades me, ubi constituta est domus omni viventi. For I know that you will bring me to death, to the house appointed for all living.
But yet thou stretchest not forth thy hand to their consumption: and if they shall fall down thou wilt save.Dù vậy, nào tôi đã chẳng giơ tay trợ giúpkẻ khốn cùng kêu cứu lúc lâm nguy?εἰ γὰρ ὄφελον δυναίμην ἐμαυτὸν χειρώσασθαι, ἢ δεηθείς γε ἑτέρου, καὶ ποιήσει μοι τοῦτο.אַ֣ךְ לֹא בְ֭עִי יִשְׁלַח יָ֑ד אִם בְּ֝פִיד֗וֹ לָהֶ֥ן שֽׁוּעַVerumtamen non ad consumptionem eorum emittis manum tuam: et si corruerint, ipse salvabis.“However doesn’t one stretch out a hand in his fall? Or in his calamity therefore cry for help?
I wept heretofore for him that was afflicted, and my soul had compassion on the poor.Nào tôi đã chẳng khóc người lầm than vất vả,chẳng động lòng thương kẻ túng nghèo?ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπὶ παντὶ ἀδυνάτῳ ἔκλαυσα, ἐστέναξα δὲ ἰδὼν ἄνδρα ἐν ἀνάγκαις. Didn’t I weep for him who was in trouble? Wasn’t my soul grieved for the needy?
I expected good things, and evils are come upon me: I waited for light, and darkness broke out.Tôi mong hạnh phúc, nhưng lại gặp bất hạnh,chờ ánh sáng, lại gặp tối tăm.ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπέχων ἀγαθοῖς, ἰδοὺ συνήντησάν μοι μᾶλλον ἡμέραι κακῶν. Expectabam bona, et venerunt mihi mala: præstolabar lucem, et eruperunt tenebræ.When I looked for good, then evil came. When I waited for light, darkness came.
My inner parts have boiled without any rest, the days of affliction have prevented me.Ruột gan tôi sôi sục không ngừng,những ngày khốn quẫn ập xuống trên tôi.ἡ κοιλία μου ἐξέζεσεν καὶ οὐ σιωπήσεται, προέφθασάν με ἡμέραι πτωχίας. Interiora mea efferbuerunt absque ulla requie: prævenerunt me dies afflictionis. My heart is troubled, and doesn’t rest. Days of affliction have come on me.
I went mourning without indignation; I rose up, and cried in the crowd.Tôi bước đi trong tăm tối không ánh mặt trời,giữa lòng đại hội, tôi đứng lên cầu cứu.στένων πεπόρευμαι ἄνευ φιμοῦ, ἕστηκα δὲ ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ κεκραγώς. Mœrens incedebam sine furore; consurgens, in turba clamabam.I go mourning without the sun. I stand up in the assembly, and cry for help.
I was the brother of dragons, and companion of ostriches.Tôi trở thành anh em với chó rừng, nên bạn hữu với đà điểu.ἀδελφὸς γέγονα σειρήνων, ἑταῖρος δὲ στρουθῶν. Frater fui draconum, et socius struthionum.I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches.
My skin is become black upon me, and my bones are dried up with heat. Cutis mea denigrata est super me, et ossa mea aruerunt præ caumate. My skin grows black and peels from me.
