The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, the revelation: the man says to Ithiel, to Ithiel and Ucal:
I am the most foolish of men, and the wisdom of men is not with me.Quả tôi ngu dốt hơn mọi người,không có chút thông minh của con người. [Stultissimus sum virorum, et sapientia hominum non est mecum.“Surely I am the most ignorant man, and don’t have a man’s understanding.
I have not learned wisdom, and have not known the science of saints.Tôi đã không được học hỏi về sự khôn ngoan,không hiểu biết chi về Đấng Thánh. Non didici sapientiam, et non novi scientiam sanctorum.I have not learned wisdom, neither do I have the knowledge of the Holy One.
Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? who hath held the wind in his hands? who hath bound up the waters together as in a garment? who hath raised up all the borders of the earth? what is his name, and what is the name of his son, if thou knowest? Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son’s name, if you know?
Every word of God is fire tried: he is a buckler to them that hope in him.Mọi lời Thiên Chúa phán đều được chứng nghiệm. Omnis sermo Dei ignitus: clypeus est sperantibus in se.“Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Add not any thing to his words, lest thou be reproved, and found a liar:Đừng thêm thắt chi vào lời Người phán dạykẻo bị Người quở trách, và con thành kẻ nói dối nói gian. Don’t you add to his words, lest he reprove you, and you be found a liar.
Two things I have asked of thee, deny them not to me before I die. Duo rogavi te: ne deneges mihi antequam moriar:“Two things I have asked of you. Don’t deny me before I die.
Remove far from me vanity, and lying words. Give me neither beggary, nor riches: give me only the necessaries of life:Xin đẩy xa con lời dối trá và chuyện lọc lừa.Xin đừng để con túng nghèo,cũng đừng cho con giàu có;chỉ xin cho con cơm bánh cần dùng,שָׁ֤וְא וּֽדְבַר כָּזָ֡ב הַרְחֵ֬ק מִמֶּ֗נִּי רֵ֣אשׁ וָ֭עֹשֶׁר אַל תִּֽתֶּן לִ֑י הַ֝טְרִיפֵ֗נִי לֶ֣חֶם חֻקִּֽיvanitatem et verba mendacia longe fac a me; mendicitatem et divitias ne dederis mihi: tribue tantum victui meo necessaria,Remove far from me falsehood and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me,
Lest perhaps being filled, I should be tempted to deny, and say: Who is the Lord? or being compelled by poverty, I should steal, and forswear the name of my God.kẻo được quá đầy dư, con sẽ khước từ Ngài mà nói:“ĐỨC CHÚA là ai vậy?”hay nếu phải túng nghèo, con sinh ra trộm cắp,làm ô danh Thiên Chúa của con.פֶּ֥ן אֶשְׂבַּ֨ע וְכִחַשְׁתִּי֮ וְאָמַ֗רְתִּי מִ֥י יְה֫וָ֥ה וּפֶֽן אִוָּרֵ֥שׁ וְגָנַ֑בְתִּי וְ֝תָפַ֗שְׂתִּי שֵׁ֣ם אֱלֹהָֽיne forte satiatus illiciar ad negandum, et dicam: Quis est Dominus? aut egestate compulsus, furer, et perjurem nomen Dei mei.lest I be full, deny you, and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou fall.Chớ đặt điều nói xấu nô lệ với chủ nó,kẻo nó nguyền rủa con và con phải chịu tội. Ne accuses servum ad dominum suum, ne forte maledicat tibi, et corruas.]“Don’t slander a servant to his master, lest he curse you, and you be held guilty.

Their eyelids are lifted up.

The leech has two daughters: ‘Give, give.’ “There are three things that are never satisfied; four that don’t say, ‘Enough!’:
Hell, and the mouth of the womb, and the earth which is not satisfied with water: and the fire never saith: It is enough.Đó là: cõi âm ty, lòng dạ son sẻ,đất chẳng bao giờ no nước,và lửa không bao giờ nói: “Đủ rồi!” Sheol, the barren womb, the earth that is not satisfied with water, and the fire that doesn’t say, ‘Enough!’

The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man in youth.đó là đường diều hâu bay lượn trên trời,đường rắn bò trên đá,đường thuyền bè đi lại giữa biển khơi,và đường của chàng thanh niên tìm đến cô thiếu nữ.דֶּ֤רֶךְ הַנֶּ֨שֶׁר בַּשָּׁמַיִם֮ דֶּ֥רֶךְ נָחָ֗שׁ עֲלֵ֫י צ֥וּר דֶּֽרֶךְ אֳנִיָּ֥ה בְלֶב יָ֑ם וְדֶ֖רֶךְ גֶּ֣בֶר בְּעַלְמָֽהviam aquilæ in cælo, viam colubri super petram, viam navis in medio mari, et viam viri in adolescentia. The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the middle of the sea, and the way of a man with a maiden.
Such is also the way of an adulterous woman, who eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith: I have done no evil.Đường của người phụ nữ ngoại tình cũng vậy:cô ả ăn xong, chùi miệng và nói: “Em có làm điều gì xấu đâu!”כֵּ֤ן דֶּ֥רֶךְ אִשָּׁ֗ה מְנָ֫אָ֥פֶת אָ֭כְלָה וּמָ֣חֲתָה פִ֑יהָ וְ֝אָמְרָ֗ה לֹֽא פָעַ֥לְתִּי אָֽוֶןTalis est et via mulieris adulteræ, quæ comedit, et tergens os suum dicit: Non sum operata malum.“So is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, and says, ‘I have done nothing wrong.’
By three things the earth is disturbed, and the fourth it cannot bear:Có ba điều khiến đất chuyển rung,và bốn chuyện nó không sao chịu nổi:תַּ֣חַת שָׁ֭לוֹשׁ רָ֣גְזָה אֶ֑רֶץ וְתַ֥חַת אַ֝רְבַּ֗ע לֹא תוּכַ֥ל שְׂאֵֽתPer tria movetur terra, et quartum non potest sustinere:“For three things the earth trembles, and under four, it can’t bear up:
By a slave when he reigneth: by a fool when he is filled with meat:Đầy tớ lên ngôi vua,kẻ ngu được dư thừa cơm bánh,תַּֽחַת עֶ֭בֶד כִּ֣י יִמְל֑וֹךְ וְ֝נָבָ֗ל כִּ֣י יִֽשְׂבַּֽע לָֽחֶםper servum, cum regnaverit; per stultum, cum saturatus fuerit cibo; For a servant when he is king, a fool when he is filled with food,

There are four very little things of the earth, and they are wiser than the wise:Trên mặt đất có bốn loài bé nhỏ,nhưng rất mực khôn ngoan:אַרְבָּ֣עָה הֵ֭ם קְטַנֵּי אָ֑רֶץ וְ֝הֵ֗מָּה חֲכָמִ֥ים מְחֻכָּמִֽים There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise:
The ants, a feeble people, which provide themselves food in the harvest:Loài kiến là đám dân yếu ớt,nhưng mới mùa hè đã biết chuẩn bị thức ăn.הַ֭נְּמָלִים עַ֣ם לֹא עָ֑ז וַיָּכִ֖ינוּ בַקַּ֣יִץ לַחְמָֽםformicæ, populus infirmus, qui præparat in messe cibum sibi; The ants are not a strong people, yet they provide their food in the summer.
The rabbit, a weak people, which maketh its bed in the rock:Loài ngân thử là đám dân nhược tiểu,nhưng lại biết làm nhà nơi hốc đá.שְׁ֭פַנִּים עַ֣ם לֹא עָצ֑וּם וַיָּשִׂ֖ימוּ בַסֶּ֣לַע בֵּיתָֽםlepusculus, plebs invalida, qui collocat in petra cubile suum; The hyraxes are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks.
The locust hath no king, yet they all go out by their bands.Châu chấu nào có vua đâu,thế mà vẫn di chuyển theo hàng ngũ.מֶ֭לֶךְ אֵ֣ין לָאַרְבֶּ֑ה וַיֵּצֵ֖א חֹצֵ֣ץ כֻּלּֽוֹregem locusta non habet, et egreditur universa per turmas suas; The locusts have no king, yet they advance in ranks.
The stellio supporteth itself on hands, and dwelleth in kings’ houses. שְׂ֭מָמִית בְּיָדַ֣יִם תְּתַפֵּ֑שׂ וְ֝הִ֗יא בְּהֵ֣יכְלֵי מֶֽלֶךְstellio manibus nititur, et moratur in ædibus regis. You can catch a lizard with your hands, yet it is in kings’ palaces.
There are three things, which go well, and the fourth that walketh happily:Ba loài có bước đi lẫm liệt,và bốn loài có dáng dấp oai phong:שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה הֵ֭מָּה מֵיטִ֣יבֵי צָ֑עַד וְ֝אַרְבָּעָ֗ה מֵיטִ֥בֵי לָֽכֶת There are three things which are stately in their march, four which are stately in going:
A lion, the strongest of beasts, who hath no fear of any thing he meeteth:Sư tử, dũng mãnh hơn mọi loài thúvà không chịu lùi bước trước bất cứ loài nào,לַ֭יִשׁ גִּבּ֣וֹר בַּבְּהֵמָ֑ה וְלֹא יָ֝שׁ֗וּב מִפְּנֵי כֹֽלleo, fortissimus bestiarum, ad nullius pavebit occursum;The lion, which is mightiest among animals, and doesn’t turn away for any;
A cock girded about the loins: and a ram: and a king, whom none can resist.gà trống nghênh ngang hay dê đực,và ông vua điều khiển quân binh.זַרְזִ֣יר מָתְנַ֣יִם אוֹ תָ֑יִשׁ וּ֝מֶ֗לֶךְ אַלְק֥וּם עִמּֽוֹgallus succinctus lumbos; et aries; nec est rex, qui resistat ei.the greyhound; the male goat; and the king against whom there is no rising up.
There is that hath appeared a fool after he was lifted up on high: for if he had understood, he would have laid his hand upon his mouth.Nếu con đã dại dột tự đề cao,khi nghĩ lại, con hãy đặt tay lên miệng.אִם נָבַ֥לְתָּ בְהִתְנַשֵּׂ֑א וְאִם זַ֝מּ֗וֹתָ יָ֣ד לְפֶֽהEst qui stultus apparuit postquam elevatus est in sublime; si enim intellexisset, ori suo imposuisset manum.“If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, or if you have thought evil, put your hand over your mouth.
And he that strongly squeezeth the papa to bring out milk, straineth out butter: and he that violently bloweth his nose, bringeth out blood: and he that provoketh wrath bringeth forth strife.Vì đánh sữa sẽ được bơ, bóp mũi sẽ bật máu,và chọc giận sẽ sinh chuyện đôi co.כִּ֤י מִ֪יץ חָלָ֡ב י֘וֹצִ֤יא חֶמְאָ֗ה וּֽמִיץ אַ֭ף י֣וֹצִיא דָ֑ם וּמִ֥יץ אַ֝פַּ֗יִם י֣וֹצִיא רִֽיבQui autem fortiter premit ubera ad eliciendum lac exprimit butyrum; et qui vehementer emungit elicit sanguinem; et qui provocat iras producit discordias.]For as the churning of milk produces butter, and the wringing of the nose produces blood, so the forcing of wrath produces strife.”
