For I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. | 13 | But he said to them: Do nothing more than that which is appointed you. | Ông bảo họ: “Đừng đòi hỏi gì quá mức đã ấn định cho các anh.” | He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.” |
| 14 | And the soldiers also asked him, saying: And what shall we do? And he said to them: Do violence to no man; neither calumniate any man; and be content with your pay. What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.” |

| 18 | And many other things exhorting, did he preach to the people. | Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people, |
| 19 | But Herod the tetrarch, when he was reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done; | Còn tiểu vương Hê-rô-đê thì bị ông Gio-an khiển trách vì đã lấy bà Hê-rô-đi-a là vợ của người anh, và vì tất cả các tội ác tiểu vương đã phạm. | ὁ δὲ Ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης, ἐλεγχόμενος ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ περὶ Ἡρῳδιάδος τῆς γυναικὸς τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ περὶ πάντων ὧν ἐποίησεν πονηρῶν ὁ Ἡρῴδης, | Herodes autem tetrarcha cum corriperetur ab illo de Herodiade uxore fratris sui, et de omnibus malis quæ fecit Herodes, | but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done, |
