As snow in summer, and rain in harvest, so glory is not seemly for a fool. | Tuyết đâu rơi mùa hè, trời đâu mưa mùa gặt,quyền cao chức trọng đâu hợp với kẻ ngu si. | כַּשֶּׁ֤לֶג בַּקַּ֗יִץ וְכַמָּטָ֥ר בַּקָּצִ֑יר כֵּ֤ן לֹא נָאוֶ֖ה לִכְסִ֣יל כָּבֽוֹד | [Quomodo nix in æstate, et pluviæ in messe, sic indecens est stulto gloria. | Like snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool.
As a bird flying to other places, and a sparrow going here or there: so a curse uttered without cause shall come upon a man. | כַּצִּפּ֣וֹר לָ֭נוּד כַּדְּר֣וֹר לָע֑וּף כֵּ֥ן קִֽלְלַ֥ת חִ֝נָּ֗ם לא ל֣וֹ תָבֹֽא | Sicut avis ad alia transvolans, et passer quolibet vadens, sic maledictum frustra prolatum in quempiam superveniet. | Like a fluttering sparrow, like a darting swallow, so the undeserved curse doesn’t come to rest.
A whip for a horse, and a snaffle for an ass, and a rod for the back of fools. | Roi dành cho ngựa, hàm thiếc cho lừa,đòn vọt dành cho lưng đứa ngu xuẩn. | שׁ֣וֹט לַ֭סּוּס מֶ֣תֶג לַחֲמ֑וֹר וְ֝שֵׁ֗בֶט לְגֵ֣ו כְּסִילִֽים | Flagellum equo, et camus asino, et virga in dorso imprudentium. | A whip is for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools!
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou be made like him. | Don’t answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him.
Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he imagine himself to be wise. | Hãy đáp lại đứa ngu theo cái ngu của nó,kẻo nó cứ tưởng là nó khôn. | Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.
He that sendeth words by a foolish messenger, is lame of feet and drinketh iniquity. | Nhờ đứa ngu chuyển giùm sứ điệpchẳng khác chi tự chặt chân mìnhvà gánh lấy biết bao tai hoạ. | One who sends a message by the hand of a fool is cutting off feet and drinking violence.
As a lame man hath fair legs in vain: so a parable is unseemly in the mouth of fools. | Đứa dốt mở miệng nói khôn nói ngoanthì cũng như anh què đi khập khiễng. | דַּלְי֣וּ שֹׁ֭קַיִם מִפִּסֵּ֑חַ וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל בְּפִ֣י כְסִילִֽים | Quomodo pulchras frustra habet claudus tibias, sic indecens est in ore stultorum parabola. | Like the legs of the lame that hang loose, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
As he that casteth a stone into the heap of Mercury: so is he that giveth honour to a fool. | Bày tỏ lòng kính trọng đứa nguchẳng khác chi cột sỏi vào ná bắn. | כִּצְר֣וֹר אֶ֭בֶן בְּמַרְגֵּמָ֑ה כֵּן נוֹתֵ֖ן לִכְסִ֣יל כָּבֽוֹד | Sicut qui mittit lapidem in acervum Mercurii, ita qui tribuit insipienti honorem. | As one who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool.
As if a thorn should grow in the hand of a drunkard: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. | Đứa dốt mở miệng nói khôn nói ngoanchẳng khác gì kẻ say vung cành gai mà múa. | ח֭וֹחַ עָלָ֣ה בְיַד שִׁכּ֑וֹר וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל בְּפִ֣י כְסִילִֽים | Quomodo si spina nascatur in manu temulenti, sic parabola in ore stultorum. | Like a thorn bush that goes into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
Judgment determineth causes: and he that putteth a fool to silence, appeaseth anger. | As an archer who wounds all, so is he who hires a fool or he who hires those who pass by.
As a dog that returneth to his vomit, so is the fool that repeateth his folly. | Con chó quay lại chỗ nó mửa,đứa ngu lặp lại chuyện ngu đần. | As a dog that returns to his vomit, so is a fool who repeats his folly.
Hast thou seen a man wise in his own conceit? there shall be more hope of a fool than of him. | Nếu con gặp một kẻ tự cho mình là khôn,thì thà hy vọng vào đứa ngu còn hơn. | Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
The slothful man saith: There is a lion in the way, and a lioness in the roads. | Tên lười nói: “Ngoài đường có sư tử,nơi quảng trường có chúa sơn lâm.” | אָמַ֣ר עָ֭צֵל שַׁ֣חַל בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ אֲ֝רִ֗י בֵּ֣ין הָרְחֹבֽוֹת | [Dicit piger: Leo est in via, et leæna in itineribus. | The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion roams the streets!”
As the door turneth upon its hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. | Cánh cửa xoay trên trục,đứa lười lăn trên giường. | הַ֭דֶּלֶת תִּסּ֣וֹב עַל צִירָ֑הּ וְ֝עָצֵ֗ל עַל מִטָּתֽוֹ | Sicut ostium vertitur in cardine suo, ita piger in lectulo suo. | As the door turns on its hinges, so does the sluggard on his bed.
The slothful hideth his hand under his armpit, and it grieveth him to turn it to his mouth. | Kẻ lười biếng thò tay vào đĩa,nhưng chẳng buồn đưa thức ăn lên miệng. | The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit, than seven men that speak sentences. | The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer with discretion.
As he that taketh a dog by the ears, so is he that passeth by in anger, and meddleth with another man’s quarrel. | Xen vô chuyện của ngườikhác nào kéo tai chó chạy rông. | Like one who grabs a dog’s ears is one who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own.
As he is guilty that shooteth arrows, and lances unto death: | thì cũng như người giả vờ điênphóng lửa, bắn tên gây chết chóc. | ὥσπερ οἱ ἰώμενοι προβάλλουσιν λόγους εἰς ἀνθρώπους, ὁ δὲ ἀπαντήσας τῷ λόγῳ πρῶτος ὑποσκελισθήσεται· | כְּֽ֭מִתְלַהְלֵהַּ הַיֹּרֶ֥ה זִקִּ֗ים חִצִּ֥ים וָמָֽוֶת | Sicut noxius est qui mittit sagittas et lanceas in mortem, | Like a madman who shoots torches, arrows, and death,
So is the man that hurteth his friend deceitfully: and when he is taken, saith: I did it in jest. | Kẻ lừa đảo bạn bè, rồi bảo: “Đùa đấy thôi!” | is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “Am I not joking?”
When the wood faileth, the fire shall go out: and when the talebearer is taken away, contentions shall cease. | For lack of wood a fire goes out. Without gossip, a quarrel dies down.
As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire, so an angry man stirreth up strife. | Than nuôi bếp hồng, củi nuôi lửa đỏ,kẻ hay gây gổ khiến cãi cọ bùng lên. | As coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindling strife.
The words of a talebearer are as it were simple, but they reach to the innermost parts of the belly. | The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, they go down into the innermost parts.
Swelling lips joined with a corrupt heart, are like an earthen vessel adorned with silver dross. | Lời lẽ mặn nồng mà lòng dạ xấu xachẳng khác nào bạc cặn dát trên đồ gốm. | Like silver dross on an earthen vessel are the lips of a fervent one with an evil heart.
An enemy is known by his lips, when in his heart he entertaineth deceit. | Kẻ ghét ghen, môi miệng khéo vờ vĩnh,nhưng thâm tâm vẫn đặt chuyện lọc lừa. | בשפתו בִּ֭שְׂפָתָיו יִנָּכֵ֣ר שׂוֹנֵ֑א וּ֝בְקִרְבּ֗וֹ יָשִׁ֥ית מִרְמָֽה | Labiis suis intelligitur inimicus, cum in corde tractaverit dolos. | A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but he harbors evil in his heart.
When he shall speak low, trust him not: because there are seven mischiefs in his heart. | Nó dùng lời quyến rũ, con đừng có tin,vì lòng nó chứa đầy chuyện ghê tởm. | כִּֽי יְחַנֵּ֣ן ק֭וֹלוֹ אַל תַּֽאֲמֶן בּ֑וֹ כִּ֤י שֶׁ֖בַע תּוֹעֵב֣וֹת בְּלִבּֽוֹ | Quando submiserit vocem suam, ne credideris ei, quoniam septem nequitiæ sunt in corde illius. | When his speech is charming, don’t believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.
He that covereth hatred deceitfully, his malice shall be laid open in the public assembly. | תִּכַּסֶּ֣ה שִׂ֭נְאָה בְּמַשָּׁא֑וֹן תִּגָּלֶ֖ה רָעָת֣וֹ בְקָהָֽל | Qui operit odium fraudulenter, revelabitur malitia ejus in consilio. | His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
He that diggeth a pit, shall fall into it: and he that rolleth a stone, it shall return to him. | Kẻ đào hố bị sa xuống hố,người lăn đá lại bị đá đè. | כֹּֽרֶה שַּׁ֭חַת בָּ֣הּ יִפֹּ֑ל וְגֹ֥לֵ֥ל אֶ֝בֶן אֵלָ֥יו תָּשֽׁוּב | Qui fodit foveam incidet in eam, et qui volvit lapidem revertetur ad eum. | Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him.
A deceitful tongue loveth not truth: and a slippery mouth worketh ruin. | Lưỡi dối gian ghét người nó làm hại,miệng ngọt xớt gây đổ vỡ nát tan. | A lying tongue hates those it hurts; and a flattering mouth works ruin.
