Wisdom is too high for a fool, in the gate he shall not open his mouth.Đối với kẻ ngu, đức khôn ngoan cao vời vợi,nơi cổng thành, nó chẳng dám hé môi.σοφία καὶ ἔννοια ἀγαθὴ ἐν πύλαις σοφῶν· σοφοὶ οὐκ ἐκκλίνουσιν ἐκ στόματος Κυρίου,רָאמ֣וֹת לֶֽאֱוִ֣יל חָכְמ֑וֹת בַּ֝שַּׁ֗עַר לֹ֣א יִפְתַּח פִּֽיהוּExcelsa stulto sapientia; in porta non aperiet os suum.Wisdom is too high for a fool. Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
If thou say: I have not strength enough: he that seeth into the heart, he understandeth, and nothing deceiveth the keeper of thy soul, and he shall render to a man according to his works. If you say, “Behold, we didn’t know this,” doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not give to every man according to his work?
Fat honey, my son, because it is good, and the honeycomb most sweet to thy throat:Hỡi con, cứ ăn đi, mật ong ngon lắm,mật ong nguyên chất ngọt ngào trong miệng con.φάγε μέλι, υἱέ, ἀγαθὸν γὰρ κηρίον, ἵνα γλυκανθῇ σου ὁ φάρυγξ.אֱכָל בְּנִ֣י דְבַ֣שׁ כִּי ט֑וֹב וְנֹ֥פֶת מָ֝ת֗וֹק עַל חִכֶּֽךָComede, fili mi, mel, quia bonum est, et favum dulcissimum gutturi tuo.My son, eat honey, for it is good, the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste;
So also is the doctrine of wisdom to thy soul: which when thou hast found, thou shalt have hope in the end, and thy hope shall not perish. כֵּ֤ן דְּעֶ֥ה חָכְמָ֗ה לְנַ֫פְשֶׁ֥ךָ אִם מָ֭צָאתָ וְיֵ֣שׁ אַחֲרִ֑ית וְ֝תִקְוָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א תִכָּרֵֽתSic et doctrina sapientiæ animæ tuæ: quam cum inveneris, habebis in novissimis spem, et spes tua non peribit.so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.
Lie not in wait, nor seek after wickedness in the house of the just, nor spoil his rest.Này kẻ gian, chớ rình rập nhà người công chính,cũng đừng phá phách nơi họ ở.μὴ προσαγάγῃς ἀσεβῆ νομῇ δικαίων, μηδὲ ἀπατηθῇς χορτασίᾳ κοιλίας.אַל תֶּאֱרֹ֣ב רָ֭שָׁע לִנְוֵ֣ה צַדִּ֑יק אַֽל תְּשַׁדֵּ֥ד רִבְצוֹNe insidieris, et quæras impietatem in domo justi, neque vastes requiem ejus.Don’t lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Don’t destroy his resting place;
For a just mall shall fall seven times and shall rise again: but the wicked shall fall down into evil.Vì chính nhân có ngã bảy lần cũng đứng lên được,còn kẻ ác cứ lảo đảo hoài trong cảnh tai ương.ἑπτάκι γὰρ πεσεῖται δίκαιος καὶ ἀναστήσεται, οἱ δὲ ἀσεβεῖς ἀσθενήσουσιν ἐν κακοῖς. Septies enim cadet justus, et resurget: impii autem corruent in malum.for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
When thy enemy shall fall, be not glad, and in his ruin let not thy heart rejoice:Khi quân thù gục ngã, con đừng lấy làm vui,lúc nó bị lảo đảo, lòng con chớ reo mừng,ἐὰν πέσῃ ὁ ἐχθρός σου, μὴ ἐπιχαρῇς αὐτῷ, ἐν δὲ τῷ ὑποσκελίσματι αὐτοῦ μὴ ἐπαίρου·בִּנְפֹ֣ל אויביך אֽ֭וֹיִבְךָ אַל תִּשְׂמָ֑ח וּ֝בִכָּשְׁל֗וֹ אַל יָגֵ֥ל לִבֶּֽךָCum ceciderit inimicus tuus ne gaudeas, et in ruina ejus ne exsultet cor tuum:Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls. Don’t let your heart be glad when he is overthrown,
Lest the Lord see, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.kẻo ĐỨC CHÚA trông thấy mà gai mắtvà không nổi giận với nó nữa đâu.ὅτι ὄψεται Κύριος καὶ οὐκ ἀρέσει αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀποστρέψει τὸν θυμὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ.פֶּן יִרְאֶ֣ה יְ֭הוָה וְרַ֣ע בְּעֵינָ֑יו וְהֵשִׁ֖יב מֵעָלָ֣יו אַפּֽוֹne forte videat Dominus, et displiceat ei, et auferat ab eo iram suam.lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
Contend not with the wicked, nor seek to be like the ungodly:Đừng ganh ghét với bọn bất lương,chớ ghen tương cùng phường gian ác.μὴ χαῖρε ἐπὶ κακοποιοῖς, μηδὲ ζήλου ἁμαρτωλούς·אַל תִּתְחַ֥ר בַּמְּרֵעִ֑ים אַל תְּ֝קַנֵּ֗א בָּרְשָׁעִֽיםNe contendas cum pessimis, nec æmuleris impios:Don’t fret yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious of the wicked;
For evil men have no hope of things to come, and the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.Vì bọn bất lương chẳng có tương lai,và ngọn đèn của phường gian ác sẽ tàn lụi.οὐ γὰρ μὴ γένηται ἔκγονα πονηρῷ, λαμπτὴρ δὲ ἀσεβῶν σβεσθήσεται.כִּ֤י לֹֽא תִהְיֶ֣ה אַחֲרִ֣ית לָרָ֑ע נֵ֖ר רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִדְעָֽךְquoniam non habent futurorum spem mali, et lucerna impiorum extinguetur.for there will be no reward to the evil man. The lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.
My son, fear the Lord and the king: and have nothing to do with detracters.Hỡi con, hãy kính sợ ĐỨC CHÚA và nhà vua,đừng giao du với những quân nổi loạn.φοβοῦ τὸν θεόν, υἱέ, καὶ βασιλέα, καὶ μηθετέρῳ αὐτῶν ἀπειθήσῃς·יְרָֽא אֶת יְהוָ֣ה בְּנִ֣י וָמֶ֑לֶךְ עִם שׁ֝וֹנִ֗ים אַל תִּתְעָרָֽבTime Dominum, fili mi, et regem, et cum detractoribus non commiscearis:My son, fear the LORD and the king. Don’t join those who are rebellious,
For their destruction shall rise suddenly: and who knoweth the ruin of both?Vì tai hoạ sẽ giáng xuống bất ngờ,cả hai sẽ tiêu diệt chúng ra sao, nào có ai lường được?ἐξαίφνης γὰρ τίσονται τοὺς ἀσεβεῖς, τὰς δὲ τιμωρίας ἀμφοτέρων τίς γνώσεται; [1] λόγον φυλασσόμενος υἱὸς ἀπωλείας ἐκτὸς ἔσται, δεχόμενος δὲ ἐδέξατο αὐτόν. כִּֽי פִ֭תְאֹם יָק֣וּם אֵידָ֑ם וּפִ֥יד שְׁ֝נֵיהֶ֗ם מִ֣י יוֹדֵֽעַquoniam repente consurget perditio eorum, et ruinam utriusque quis novit?]for their calamity will rise suddenly. Who knows what destruction may come from them both?
These things also to the wise: It is not good to have respect to persons in judgment. Hæc quoque sapientibus. [Cognoscere personam in judicio non est bonum.These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.
They that say to the wicked man: Thou art just: shall be cursed by the people, and the tribes shall abhor them. He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” peoples will curse him, and nations will abhor him—
