And the days of David drew nigh that he should die, and he charged his son Solomon, saying: | Khi thấy mình đã gần đất xa trời, vua Đa-vít truyền dạy Sa-lô-môn con mình rằng: | Καὶ ἤγγισαν αἱ ἡμέραι Δαυεὶδ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπεκρίνατο Σαλωμὼν υἱῷ αὐτοῦ λέγων | וַיִּקְרְב֥וּ יְמֵֽי דָוִ֖ד לָמ֑וּת וַיְצַ֛ו אֶת שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר | Appropinquaverunt autem dies David ut moreretur: præcepitque Salomoni filio suo, dicens: | Now the days of David came near that he should die; and he commanded Solomon his son, saying,
I am going the way of all flesh: take thou courage, and shew thyself a man. | “Cha sắp bước vào đoạn đường mà mọi người trên đời phải đi qua; con hãy can đảm lên và sống cho xứng bậc nam nhi. | Ἐγώ εἰμι πορεύομαι ἐν ὁδῷ πάσης τῆς γῆς· καὶ ἰσχύσεις καὶ ἔσῃ εἰς ἄνδρα· | אָנֹכִ֣י הֹלֵ֔ךְ בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ כָּל הָאָ֑רֶץ וְחָזַקְתָּ֖ וְהָיִ֥יתָֽ לְאִֽישׁ | Ego ingredior viam universæ terræ: confortare, et esto vir. | “I am going the way of all the earth. You be strong therefore, and show yourself a man;
And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and observe his ceremonies, and his precepts, and judgments, and testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses: that thou mayest understand all thou dost, and whithersoever thou shalt turn thyself: | Hãy tuân giữ các huấn lệnh của ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của con, mà đi theo đường lối của Người, là giữ các giới răn, mệnh lệnh, luật pháp, và chỉ thị của Người, như đã ghi trong Luật Mô-sê. Như thế con sẽ thành công trong mọi việc con làm và trong mọi hướng con đi, | καὶ φυλάξεις φυλακὴν θεοῦ σου τοῦ πορεύεσθαι ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ, φυλάσσειν τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν νόμῳ Μωυσέως, ἵνα συνήσεις ἃ ποιήσεις κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἐντείλωμαί σοι· | וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֞ אֶת מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ לָלֶ֤כֶת בִּדְרָכָיו֙ לִשְׁמֹ֨ר חֻקֹּתָ֤יו מִצְוֺתָיו֙ וּמִשְׁפָּטָ֣יו וְעֵדְוֺתָ֔יו כַּכָּת֖וּב בְּתוֹרַ֣ת מֹשֶׁ֑ה לְמַ֣עַן תַּשְׂכִּ֗יל אֵ֚ת כָּל אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה וְאֵ֛ת כָּל אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּפְנֶ֖ה שָֽׁם | Et observa custodias Domini Dei tui, ut ambules in viis ejus: ut custodias cæremonias ejus, et præcepta ejus, et judicia, et testimonia, sicut scriptum est in lege Moysi: ut intelligas universa quæ facis, et quocumque te verteris: | and keep the instruction of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.
That the Lord may confirm his words, which he hath spoken of me, saying: If thy children shall take heed to their ways, and shall walk before me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, there shall not be taken away from thee a man on the throne of Israel. | לְמַעַן֩ יָקִ֨ים יְהוָ֜ה אֶת דְּבָר֗וֹ אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֣ר עָלַי֮ לֵאמֹר֒ אִם יִשְׁמְר֨וּ בָנֶ֜יךָ אֶת דַּרְכָּ֗ם לָלֶ֤כֶת לְפָנַי֙ בֶּאֱמֶ֔ת בְּכָל לְבָבָ֖ם וּבְכָל נַפְשָׁ֑ם לֵאמֹ֕ר לֹֽא יִכָּרֵ֤ת לְךָ֙ אִ֔ישׁ מֵעַ֖ל כִּסֵּ֥א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל | ut confirmet Dominus sermones suos quos locutus est de me, dicens: Si custodierint filii tui vias suas, et ambulaverint coram me in veritate, in omni corde suo et in omni anima sua, non auferetur tibi vir de solio Israël. | Then the LORD may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your children are careful of their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you,’ he said, ‘a man on the throne of Israel.’
Thou knowest also what Joab the son of Sarvia hath done to me, what he did to the two captains of the army of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether: whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet. | וְגַ֣ם אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֡עְתָּ אֵת֩ אֲשֶׁר עָ֨שָׂה לִ֜י יוֹאָ֣ב בֶּן צְרוּיָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֣ה לִשְׁנֵֽי שָׂרֵ֣י צִבְא֣וֹת יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל לְאַבְנֵ֨ר בֶּן נֵ֜ר וְלַעֲמָשָׂ֤א בֶן יֶ֨תֶר֙ וַיַּ֣הַרְגֵ֔ם וַיָּ֥שֶׂם דְּמֵֽי מִלְחָמָ֖ה בְּשָׁלֹ֑ם וַיִּתֵּ֞ן דְּמֵ֣י מִלְחָמָ֗ה בַּחֲגֹֽרָתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּמָתְנָ֔יו וּֽבְנַעֲל֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּרַגְלָֽיו | Tu quoque nosti quæ fecerit mihi Joab filius Sarviæ, quæ fecerit duobus principibus exercitus Israël, Abner filio Ner, et Amasæ filio Jether: quos occidit, et effudit sanguinem belli in pace, et posuit cruorem prælii in balteo suo qui erat circa lumbos ejus, et in calceamento suo quod erat in pedibus ejus. | “Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, even what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his sash that was around his waist and in his sandals that were on his feet.
Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoary head go down to hell in peace. | Do therefore according to your wisdom, and don’t let his gray head go down to Sheol in peace.
But shew kindness to the sons of Berzellai the Galaadite, and let them eat at thy table: for they met me when I fled from the face of Absalom thy brother. | וְלִבְנֵ֨י בַרְזִלַּ֤י הַגִּלְעָדִי֙ תַּֽעֲשֶׂה חֶ֔סֶד וְהָי֖וּ בְּאֹכְלֵ֣י שֻׁלְחָנֶ֑ךָ כִּי כֵן֙ קָרְב֣וּ אֵלַ֔י בְּבָרְחִ֕י מִפְּנֵ֖י אַבְשָׁל֥וֹם אָחִֽיךָ | Sed et filiis Berzellai Galaaditis reddes gratiam, eruntque comedentes in mensa tua: occurrerunt enim mihi quando fugiebam a facie Absalom fratris tui. | But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table; for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom your brother.
Thou hast also with thee Semei the son of Gera the son of Jemini of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse, when I went to the camp: but because he came down to meet me when I passed over the Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying: I will not kill thee with a sword: | Và này, con còn vụ Sim-y, con của Ghê-ra, người Ben-gia-min, thuộc Ba-khu-rim. | וְהִנֵּ֣ה עִ֠מְּךָ שִֽׁמְעִ֨י בֶן גֵּרָ֥א בֶן הַיְמִינִי֮ מִבַּחֻרִים֒ וְה֤וּא קִֽלְלַ֨נִי֙ קְלָלָ֣ה נִמְרֶ֔צֶת בְּי֖וֹם לֶכְתִּ֣י מַחֲנָ֑יִם וְהֽוּא יָרַ֤ד לִקְרָאתִי֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וָאֶשָּׁ֨בַֽע ל֤וֹ בַֽיהוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אִם אֲמִֽיתְךָ֖ בֶּחָֽרֶב | Habes quoque apud te Semei filium Gera filii Jemini de Bahurim, qui maledixit mihi maledictione pessima quando ibam ad castra: sed quia descendit mihi in occursum cum transirem Jordanem, et juravi ei per Dominum, dicens: Non te interficiam gladio: | “Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the LORD, saying, ‘I will not put you to death with the sword.’
Do not thou hold him guiltless. But thou art a wise man, and knowest what to do with him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to hell. | 10 | So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. | וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב דָּוִ֖ד עִם אֲבֹתָ֑יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּעִ֥יר דָּוִֽד | Dormivit igitur David cum patribus suis, et sepultus est in civitate David. | David slept with his fathers, and was buried in David’s city.

And Solomon sat upon the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was strengthened exceedingly. | Solomon sat on David his father’s throne; and his kingdom was firmly established.
And Adonias the son of Haggith came to Bethsabee the mother of Solomon. And she said to him: Is thy coming peaceable? he answered: Peaceable. | Ông A-đô-ni-gia-hu, con bà Khác-ghít, đến gặp bà Bát Se-va, mẹ vua Sa-lô-môn; bà hỏi ông: “Anh đến nói chuyện bình an chứ?” Ông thưa: “Bình an.” Quæ dixit ei: Pacificusne est ingressus tuus? Qui respondit: Pacificus. | Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. She said, “Do you come peaceably?” He said, “Peaceably.
And he added: I have a word to speak with thee. She said to him: Speak. And he said: | Ông nói tiếp: “Tôi có việc muốn thưa với bà.” Bà đáp: “Anh cứ nói.” Cui ait: Loquere. Et ille: | He said moreover, I have something to tell you.” She said, “Say on.”
Thou knowest that the kingdom was nine, and all Israel had preferred me to be their king: but the kingdom is transferred, and is become my brother’s: for it was appointed him by the Lord. | וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אַ֤תְּ יָדַ֨עַתְּ֙ כִּי לִי֙ הָיְתָ֣ה הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה וְעָלַ֞י שָׂ֧מוּ כָֽל יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל פְּנֵיהֶ֖ם לִמְלֹ֑ךְ וַתִּסֹּ֤ב הַמְּלוּכָה֙ וַתְּהִ֣י לְאָחִ֔י כִּ֥י מֵיְהוָ֖ה הָ֥יְתָה לּֽוֹ | Tu, inquit, nosti, quia meum erat regnum, et me præposuerat omnis Israël sibi in regem: sed translatum est regnum, et factum est fratris mei: a Domino enim constitutum est ei. | He said, “You know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign. However, the kingdom is turned around, and has become my brother’s; for it was his from the LORD.
Now therefore I ask one petition of thee: turn not away my face. And she said to him: Say on. | Vậy bây giờ tôi chỉ có một điều xin bà, bà đừng ngoảnh mặt đi.” Bà bảo ông: “Anh cứ nói.” Quæ dixit ad eum: Loquere. | Now I ask one petition of you. Don’t deny me.” She said to him, “Say on.”
And he said: I pray thee speak to king Solomon (for he cannot deny thee any thing) to give me Abisag the Sunamitess to wife. | He said, “Please speak to Solomon the king (for he will not tell you ‘no’), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite as wife.”
And Bethsabee said: Well, I will speak for thee to the king. | Bà Bát Se-va nói: “Được, tôi sẽ thưa với vua hộ anh.” | Bathsheba said, “All right. | וַתָּבֹ֤א בַת שֶׁ֨בַע֙ אֶל הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לְדַבֶּר ל֖וֹ עַל אֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ וַיָּקָם֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ לִקְרָאתָ֜הּ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֣חוּ לָ֗הּ וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב֙ עַל כִּסְא֔וֹ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם כִּסֵּא֙ לְאֵ֣ם הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַתֵּ֖שֶׁב לִֽימִינֽוֹ | Venit ergo Bethsabee ad regem Salomonem ut loqueretur ei pro Adonia: et surrexit rex in occursum ejus, adoravitque eam, et sedit super thronum suum: positusque est thronus matri regis, quæ sedit ad dexteram ejus. | Bathsheba therefore went to King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. The king rose up to meet her and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne and caused a throne to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.
And she said to him: I desire one small petition of thee, do not put me to confusion. And the king said to her: My mother, ask: for I must not turn away thy face. | Bà nói: “Có một điều nhỏ mọn mẹ xin với con; con đừng ngoảnh mặt đi.” Vua nói với bà: “Thưa mẹ, mẹ cứ xin, vì con sẽ không ngoảnh mặt từ chối mẹ.” | 21 | And she said: Let Abisag the Sunamitess be given to Adonias thy brother to wife. | Bà liền nói: “Xin cho nàng A-vi-sác, người Su-nêm, được làm vợ A-đô-ni-gia-hu, anh con.” | She said, “Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as wife.”
And king Solomon answered, and said to his mother: Why dost thou ask Abisag the Sunamitess for Adonias? ask for him also the kingdom: for he is my elder brother, and hath Abiathar the priest, and Joab the son of Sarvia. | Vua Sa-lô-môn trả lời và nói với mẹ: “Sao mẹ lại xin nàng A-vi-sác, người Su-nêm, cho A-đô-ni-gia-hu? Ask for him the kingdom also, for he is my elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.”
Then king Solomon swore by the Lord, saying: So and so may God do to me, and add more, if Adonias hath not spoken this word against his own life. | Rồi vua Sa-lô-môn lấy danh ĐỨC CHÚA mà thề: “Xin Thiên Chúa phạt ta thế này và thế kia nữa, nếu A-đô-ni-gia-hu không mất mạng vì câu nói đó!” | Then King Solomon swore by the LORD, saying, “God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.
And now as the Lord liveth, who hath established me, and placed me upon the throne of David my father, and who hath made me a house, as he promised, Adonias shall be put to death this day. | וְעַתָּ֗ה חַי יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֱכִינַ֗נִי ויושיביני וַיּֽוֹשִׁיבַ֨נִי֙ עַל כִּסֵּא֙ דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י וַאֲשֶׁ֧ר עָֽשָׂה לִ֛י בַּ֖יִת כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֵּ֑ר כִּ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם יוּמַ֖ת אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ | Et nunc vivit Dominus, qui firmavit me, et collocavit me super solium David patris mei, et qui fecit mihi domum, sicut locutus est, quia hodie occidetur Adonias. | Now therefore as the LORD lives, who has established me and set me on my father David’s throne, and who has made me a house as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death today.”
And king Solomon sent by the hand of Banaias the son of Joiada, who slew him, and he died. | Đoạn vua Sa-lô-môn sai ông Bơ-na-gia-hu, con ông Giơ-hô-gia-đa, đi hạ sát ông A-đô-ni-gia-hu và ông này đã chết. | King Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell on him, so that he died.
And the king said also to Abiathar the priest: Go to Anathoth to thy lands, for indeed thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou didst carry the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and hast endured trouble in all the troubles my father endured. | וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֨ר הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ עֲנָתֹת֙ לֵ֣ךְ עַל שָׂדֶ֔יךָ כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ מָ֖וֶת אָ֑תָּה וּבַיּ֨וֹם הַזֶּ֜ה לֹ֣א אֲמִיתֶ֗ךָ כִּֽי נָשָׂ֜אתָ אֶת אֲר֨וֹן אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהֹוִה֙ לִפְנֵי֙ דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י וְכִ֣י הִתְעַנִּ֔יתָ בְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶֽׁר הִתְעַנָּ֖ה אָבִֽי | Abiathar quoque sacerdoti dixit rex: Vade in Anathoth ad agrum tuum: equidem vir mortis es: sed hodie te non interficiam, quia portasti arcam Domini Dei coram David patre meo, et sustinuisti laborem in omnibus in quibus laboravit pater meus. | To Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to Anathoth, to your own fields, for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the Lord GOD’s ark before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted.”
So Solomon cast out Abiathar, from being the priest of the Lord, that the word of the Lord might be fulfilled, which he spoke concerning the house of Deli in Silo. | וַיְגָ֤רֶשׁ שְׁלֹמֹה֙ אֶת אֶבְיָתָ֔ר מִהְי֥וֹת כֹּהֵ֖ן לַֽיהוָ֑ה לְמַלֵּא֙ אֶת דְּבַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֛ר עַל בֵּ֥ית עֵלִ֖י בְּשִׁלֹֽה | Ejecit ergo Salomon Abiathar ut non esset sacerdos Domini, ut impleretur sermo Domini quem locutus est super domum Heli in Silo. | So Solomon thrust Abiathar out from being priest to the LORD, that he might fulfill the LORD’s word which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
And the news came to Joab, because Joab had turned after Adonias, and had not turned after Solomon: and Joab fled into the tabernacle of the Lord and laid hold on the horn of the altar. | וְהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙ בָּ֣אָה עַד יוֹאָ֔ב כִּ֣י יוֹאָ֗ב נָטָה֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י אֲדֹנִיָּ֔ה וְאַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם לֹ֣א נָטָ֑ה וַיָּ֤נָס יוֹאָב֙ אֶל אֹ֣הֶל יְהוָ֔ה וַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖ק בְּקַרְנ֥וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ | Venit autem nuntius ad Joab, quod Joab declinasset post Adoniam, et post Salomonem non declinasset: fugit ergo Joab in tabernaculum Domini, et apprehendit cornu altaris. | This news came to Joab; for Joab had followed Adonijah, although he didn’t follow Absalom. Joab fled to the LORD’s Tent, and held onto the horns of the altar.
And it was told king Solomon, that Joab was fled into the tabernacle of the Lord, and was by the altar: and Solomon sent Banaias the son of Joiada, saying: Go, kill him. | וַיֻּגַּ֞ד לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה כִּ֣י נָ֤ס יוֹאָב֙ אֶל אֹ֣הֶל יְהוָ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֖ה אֵ֣צֶל הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה אֶת בְּנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן יְהוֹיָדָ֛ע לֵאמֹ֖ר לֵ֥ךְ פְּגַע בּֽוֹ | Nuntiatumque est regi Salomoni quod fugisset Joab in tabernaculum Domini, et esset juxta altare: misitque Salomon Banaiam filium Jojadæ, dicens: Vade, interfice eum. | King Solomon was told, “Joab has fled to the LORD’s Tent; and behold, he is by the altar.” Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, fall on him.”
And Banaias came to the tabernacle of the Lord, and said to him: Thus saith the king: Come forth. And he said: I will not come forth, but here I will die. Banaias brought word back to the king, saying: Thus saith Joab, and thus he answered me. | 31 | And the king said to him: Do as he hath said: and kill him, and bury him, and thou shalt remove the innocent blood which hath been shed by Joab, from me, and from the house of my father. | Vua nói với ông: “Cứ làm như hắn nói; hạ sát hắn, rồi chôn hắn đi. Như thế, ngươi sẽ làm cho ta và nhà cha ta được sạch vết máu vô tội Giô-áp đã đổ ra. | וַיֹּ֧אמֶר ל֣וֹ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ עֲשֵׂה֙ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר וּפְגַע בּ֖וֹ וּקְבַרְתּ֑וֹ וַהֲסִירֹ֣תָ דְּמֵ֣י חִנָּ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֙ שָׁפַ֣ךְ יוֹאָ֔ב מֵעָלַ֕י וּמֵעַ֖ל בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽי | Dixitque ei rex: Fac sicut locutus est, et interfice eum, et sepeli: et amovebis sanguinem innocentem qui effusus est a Joab, a me, et a domo patris mei. | The king said to him, “Do as he has said, and fall on him, and bury him, that you may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father’s house.

And Semei said to the king: The saying is good: as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do. And Semei dwelt in Jerusalem, many days. Habitavit itaque Semei in Jerusalem diebus multis. | Shimei said to the king, “What you say is good. As my lord the king has said, so will your servant do.” Shimei lived in Jerusalem many days.
And it came to pass after three years, that the servants of Semei ran away to Achis the son of Maacha the king of Geth: and it was told Semei that his servants were gone to Geth. | Nhưng rồi sau ba năm có hai người đầy tớ của Sim-y bỏ trốn, đến với ông A-khít, con ông Ma-a-kha, vua Gát; và người ta báo cho Sim-y: “Này, các đầy tớ của ông đang ở Gát.” | וַיְהִ֗י מִקֵּץ֙ שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים וַיִּבְרְח֤וּ שְׁנֵֽי עֲבָדִים֙ לְשִׁמְעִ֔י אֶל אָכִ֥ישׁ בֶּֽן מַעֲכָ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ גַּ֑ת וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לְשִׁמְעִי֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּ֥ה עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ בְּגַֽת | Factum est autem post annos tres ut fugerent servi Semei ad Achis filium Maacha regem Geth: nuntiatumque est Semei quod servi ejus issent in Geth. | At the end of three years, two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. They told Shimei, saying, “Behold, your slaves are in Gath.”
And Semei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Achis to Geth to seek his servants, and he brought them out of Geth. | Sim-y liền trỗi dậy, thắng lừa, đi Gát, đến nhà ông A-khít, để tìm đầy tớ; ông đến đó và đưa các đầy tớ của mình từ Gát trở về. | וַיָּ֣קָם שִׁמְעִ֗י וַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ֙ אֶת חֲמֹר֔וֹ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ גַּ֨תָה֙ אֶל אָכִ֔ישׁ לְבַקֵּ֖שׁ אֶת עֲבָדָ֑יו וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ שִׁמְעִ֔י וַיָּבֵ֥א אֶת עֲבָדָ֖יו מִגַּֽת | Et surrexit Semei, et stravit asinum suum, ivitque ad Achis in Geth ad requirendum servos suos, et adduxit eos de Geth. | Shimei arose, saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his slaves; and Shimei went and brought his slaves from Gath.
And it was told Solomon that Semei had gone from Jerusalem to Geth, and was come back. | Người ta báo cho vua Sa-lô-môn biết Sim-y đã bỏ Giê-ru-sa-lem đi Gát và đã trở về. | וַיֻּגַּ֖ד לִשְׁלֹמֹ֑ה כִּי הָלַ֨ךְ שִׁמְעִ֧י מִירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם גַּ֖ת וַיָּשֹֽׁב | Nuntiatum est autem Salomoni quod isset Semei in Geth de Jerusalem, et rediisset. | Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and had come again.
And sending he called for him, and said to him: Did I not protest to thee by the Lord, and tell thee before: On what day soever thou shalt go out and walk abroad any whither, know that thou shalt die? And thou answeredst me: The word that I have heard is good. | The king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, “Didn’t I adjure you by the LORD and warn you, saying, ‘Know for certain that on the day you go out and walk anywhere else, you shall surely die’? You said to me, ‘The saying that I have heard is good.’
Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I laid upon thee? | Why then have you not kept the oath of the LORD and the commandment that I have instructed you with?”
And the king said to Semei: Thou knowest all the evil, of which thy heart is conscious, which thou didst to David my father: the Lord hath returned thy wickedness upon thy own head: | Rồi vua nói với Sim-y: “Chính ngươi đã biết tất cả sự độc ác –hẳn lòng ngươi quá rõ– mà ngươi đã làm cho Đa-vít thân phụ ta; xin ĐỨC CHÚA làm cho sự độc ác của ngươi lại giáng xuống đầu ngươi. | וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל שִׁמְעִ֗י אַתָּ֤ה יָדַ֨עְתָּ֙ אֵ֣ת כָּל הָרָעָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָדַע֙ לְבָ֣בְךָ֔ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתָ לְדָוִ֣ד אָבִ֑י וְהֵשִׁ֧יב יְהוָ֛ה אֶת רָעָתְךָ֖ בְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ | Dixitque rex ad Semei: Tu nosti omne malum cujus tibi conscium est cor tuum, quod fecisti David patri meo: reddidit Dominus malitiam tuam in caput tuum: | The king said moreover to Shimei, “You know in your heart all the wickedness that you did to David my father. Therefore the LORD will return your wickedness on your own head.
And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever. | וְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה בָּר֑וּךְ וְכִסֵּ֣א דָוִ֗ד יִהְיֶ֥ה נָכ֛וֹן לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה עַד עוֹלָֽם | et rex Salomon benedictus, et thronus David erit stabilis coram Domino usque in sempiternum. | But King Solomon will be blessed, and David’s throne will be established before the LORD forever.”
So the king commanded Banaias the son of Joiada: and he went out and struck him, and he died. | Vua ra lệnh cho ông Bơ-na-gia-hu con ông Giơ-hô-gia-đa, và ông đã đi hạ sát Sim-y và y đã chết. Vua Sa-lô-môn nắm vững vương quyền trong tay. | So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell on him, so that he died. The kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
