And entering in, he walked through Jericho. | Sau khi vào Giê-ri-khô, Đức Giê-su đi ngang qua thành phố ấy. | Et ingressus perambulabat Jericho. | He entered and was passing through Jericho.
And behold, there was a man named Zacheus, who was the chief of the publicans, and he was rich. | καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ὀνόματι ⸀καλούμενος Ζακχαῖος, καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν ἀρχιτελώνης καὶ ⸀αὐτὸς πλούσιος· | Et ecce vir nomine Zachæus: et hic princeps erat publicanorum, et ipse dives: | There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
And he sought to see Jesus who he was, and he could not for the crowd, because he was low of stature. | He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.
And running before, he climbed up into a sycamore tree, that he might see him; for he was to pass that way. | Ông liền chạy tới phía trước, leo lên một cây sung để xem Đức Giê-su, vì Người sắp đi qua đó. | He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.
And when Jesus was come to the place, looking up, he saw him, and said to him: Zacheus, make haste and come down; for this day I must abide in thy house. | Khi Đức Giê-su tới chỗ ấy, thì Người nhìn lên và nói với ông: “Này ông Da-kêu, xuống mau đi, vì hôm nay tôi phải ở lại nhà ông!” | When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
And he made haste and came down; and received him with joy. | Ông vội vàng tụt xuống, và mừng rỡ đón rước Người. | Et festinans descendit, et excepit illum gaudens. | He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
And when all saw it, they murmured, saying, that he was gone to be a guest with a man that was a sinner. | When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”
But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold. | Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”
Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. | Đức Giê-su mới nói về ông ta rằng: “Hôm nay, ơn cứu độ đã đến cho nhà này, bởi người này cũng là con cháu tổ phụ Áp-ra-ham. | Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. | For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
As they were hearing these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately be manifested. | As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.
He said therefore: A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. | Dixit ergo: Homo quidam nobilis abiit in regionem longinquam accipere sibi regnum, et reverti. | He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them: Trade till I come. | He called ten servants of his and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
But his citizens hated him: and they sent an embassage after him, saying: We will not have this man to reign over us. | Cives autem ejus oderant eum: et miserunt legationem post illum, dicentes: Nolumus hunc regnare super nos. | But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’
And it came to pass, that he returned, having received the kingdom: and he commanded his servants to be called, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. | “When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
And the first came, saying: Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. | Venit autem primus dicens: Domine, mna tua decem mnas acquisivit. | The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
And he said to him: Well done, thou good servant, because thou hast been faithful in a little, thou shalt have power over ten cities. | Et ait illi: Euge bone serve, quia in modico fuisti fidelis, eris potestatem habens super decem civitates. | “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
And the second came, saying: Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. | Et alter venit, dicens: Domine, mna tua fecit quinque mnas. | “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’
And he said to him: Be thou also over five cities. | Et huic ait: Et tu esto super quinque civitates. | “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
And another came, saying: Lord, behold here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin; | Rồi người thứ ba đến trình: ‘Thưa ngài, nén bạc của ngài đây, tôi đã bọc khăn giữ kỹ. | καὶ ⸀ὁ ἕτερος ἦλθεν λέγων· Κύριε, ἰδοὺ ἡ μνᾶ σου ἣν εἶχον ἀποκειμένην ἐν σουδαρίῳ· | Et alter venit, dicens: Domine, ecce mna tua, quam habui repositam in sudario: | Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and thou reapest that which thou didst not sow. | for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’
He saith to him: Out of thy own mouth I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow: | Ông nói: ‘Hỡi đầy tớ tồi tệ! He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
And why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming, I might have exacted it with usury? | Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
And he said to them that stood by: Take the pound away from him, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. | He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
And they said to him: Lord, he hath ten pounds. | Họ thưa ông: ‘Thưa ngài, anh ấy có mười nén rồi!’ | “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
But I say to you, that to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall abound: and from him that hath not, even that which he hath, shall be taken from him. | – ‘Tôi nói cho các anh hay: phàm ai đã có, thì sẽ được cho thêm; còn ai không có, thì ngay cái nó đang có cũng sẽ bị lấy đi. | ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
But as for those my enemies, who would not have me reign over them, bring them hither, and kill them before me. | Verumtamen inimicos meos illos, qui noluerunt me regnare super se, adducite huc: et interficite ante me. | But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”
And having said these things, he went before, going up to Jerusalem. | Nói những lời ấy xong, Đức Giê-su đi đầu, tiến lên Giê-ru-sa-lem. | Et his dictis, præcedebat ascendens Jerosolymam. | Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethania, unto the mount called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples, | Khi đến gần làng Bết-pha-ghê và làng Bê-ta-ni-a, bên triền núi gọi là núi Ô-liu, Người sai hai môn đệ và bảo: | Καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤγγισεν εἰς Βηθφαγὴ καὶ Βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ ὄρος τὸ καλούμενον Ἐλαιῶν, ἀπέστειλεν δύο τῶν ⸀μαθητῶν | Et factum est, cum appropinquasset ad Bethphage et Bethaniam, ad montem qui vocatur Oliveti, misit duos discipulos suos, | When he came near to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
Saying: Go into the town which is over against you, at your entering into which you shall find the colt of an ass tied, on which no man ever hath sitten: loose him, and bring him hither. | saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, which no man has ever sat upon. Untie it and bring it.
And if any man shall ask you: Why do you loose him? you shall say thus unto him: Because the Lord hath need of his service. | Nếu có ai hỏi: ‘Tại sao các anh cởi lừa người ta ra’, thì cứ nói: ‘Chúa có việc cần dùng!’ | Et si quis vos interrogaverit: Quare solvitis? sic dicetis ei: Quia Dominus operam ejus desiderat. | If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
And they that were sent, went their way, and found the colt standing, as he had said unto them. | Those who were sent went away and found things just as he had told them.
And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said to them: Why loose you the colt? | As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
But they said: Because the Lord hath need of him. | Hai ông đáp: “Chúa có việc cần dùng.” | At illi dixerunt: Quia Dominus eum necessarium habet. | They said, “The Lord needs it.”
And they brought him to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they set Jesus thereon. Et jacentes vestimenta sua supra pullum, imposuerunt Jesum. | Then they brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt and sat Jesus on them.
And as he went, they spread their clothes underneath in the way. | Người đi tới đâu, dân chúng cũng lấy áo choàng trải xuống mặt đường. | Eunte autem illo, substernebant vestimenta sua in via: | As he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.
And when he was now coming near the descent of mount Olivet, the whole multitude of his disciples began with joy to praise God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works they had seen, | Khi Người đến gần chỗ dốc xuống núi Ô-liu, tất cả đoàn môn đệ vui mừng bắt đầu lớn tiếng ca tụng Thiên Chúa, vì các phép lạ họ đã được thấy. | ἐγγίζοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἤδη πρὸς τῇ καταβάσει τοῦ Ὄρους τῶν Ἐλαιῶν ἤρξαντο ἅπαν τὸ πλῆθος τῶν μαθητῶν χαίροντες αἰνεῖν τὸν θεὸν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ περὶ ⸀πασῶν ὧν εἶδον δυνάμεων, | et cum appropinquaret jam ad descensum montis Oliveti, cœperunt omnes turbæ discipulorum gaudentes laudare Deum voce magna super omnibus, quas viderant, virtutibus, | As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
Saying: Blessed be the king who cometh in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven, and glory on high! | dicentes: Benedictus, qui venit rex in nomine Domini: pax in cælo, et gloria in excelsis. | saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”
And some of the Pharisees, from amongst the multitude, said to him: Master, rebuke thy disciples. | Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
To whom he said: I say to you, that if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out. | Quibus ipse ait: Dico vobis, quia si hi tacuerint, lapides clamabunt. | He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”
And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying: | Khi đến gần Giê-ru-sa-lem và trông thấy thành, Đức Giê-su khóc thương | Καὶ ὡς ἤγγισεν, ἰδὼν τὴν πόλιν ἔκλαυσεν ἐπ’ ⸀αὐτήν, | Et ut appropinquavit, videns civitatem flevit super illam, dicens: | When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,
If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes. | saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
For the days shall come upon thee, and thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every side, | Thật vậy, sẽ tới những ngày quân thù đắp luỹ chung quanh, bao vây và công hãm ngươi tư bề. | ὅτι ἥξουσιν ἡμέραι ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ ⸀παρεμβαλοῦσιν οἱ ἐχθροί σου χάρακά σοι καὶ περικυκλώσουσίν σε καὶ συνέξουσίν σε πάντοθεν, | Quia venient dies in te: et circumdabunt te inimici tui vallo, et circumdabunt te: et coangustabunt te undique: | For the days will come on you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
And beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee: and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation. | and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”
