And he spoke also a parable to them, that we ought always to pray, and not to faint,Đức Giê-su kể cho các môn đệ dụ ngôn sau đây, để dạy các ông phải cầu nguyện luôn, không được nản chí.Ἔλεγεν ⸀δὲ παραβολὴν αὐτοῖς πρὸς τὸ δεῖν πάντοτε προσεύχεσθαι ⸀αὐτοὺς καὶ μὴ ἐγκακεῖν,Dicebat autem et parabolam ad illos, quoniam oportet semper orare et non deficere,He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray and not give up,
Saying: There was a judge in a certain city, who feared not God, nor regarded man. Ông ta chẳng kính sợ Thiên Chúa, mà cũng chẳng coi ai ra gì.λέγων· Κριτής τις ἦν ἔν τινι πόλει τὸν θεὸν μὴ φοβούμενος καὶ ἄνθρωπον μὴ ἐντρεπόμενος.dicens: Judex quidam erat in quadam civitate, qui Deum non timebat, et hominem non reverebatur.saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God and didn’t respect man.
And there was a certain widow in that city, and she came to him, saying: Avenge me of my adversary. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’
And he would not for a long time. But afterwards he said within himself: Although I fear not God, nor regard man,Một thời gian khá lâu, ông không chịu. Post hæc autem dixit intra se: Etsi Deum non timeo, nec hominem revereor:He wouldn’t for a while; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man,
Yet because this widow is troublesome to me, I will avenge her, lest continually coming she weary me.nhưng mụ goá này quấy rầy mãi, thì ta xét xử cho rồi, kẻo mụ ấy cứ đến hoài, làm ta nhức đầu nhức óc.’”διά γε τὸ παρέχειν μοι κόπον τὴν χήραν ταύτην ἐκδικήσω αὐτήν ἵνα μὴ εἰς τέλος ἐρχομένη ὑπωπιάζῃ με.tamen quia molesta est mihi hæc vidua, vindicabo illam, ne in novissimo veniens sugillet me.yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”
And the Lord said: Hear what the unjust judge saith.Rồi Chúa nói: “Anh em nghe quan toà bất chính ấy nói đó!εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος· Ἀκούσατε τί ὁ κριτὴς τῆς ἀδικίας λέγει·Ait autem Dominus: Audite quid judex iniquitatis dicit:The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
And will not God revenge his elect who cry to him day and night: and will he have patience in their regard?Vậy chẳng lẽ Thiên Chúa lại không minh xét cho những kẻ Người đã tuyển chọn, ngày đêm hằng kêu cứu với Người sao? Lẽ nào Người bắt họ chờ đợi mãi?ὁ δὲ θεὸς οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ τὴν ἐκδίκησιν τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν αὐτοῦ τῶν βοώντων ⸀αὐτῷ ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός, καὶ ⸀μακροθυμεῖ ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς;Deus autem non faciet vindictam electorum suorum clamantium ad se die ac nocte, et patientiam habebit in illis?Won’t God avenge his chosen ones who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
I say to you, that he will quickly revenge them. But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth? Verumtamen Filius hominis veniens, putas, inveniet fidem in terra?I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
And to some who trusted in themselves as just, and despised others, he spoke also this parable:Đức Giê-su còn kể dụ ngôn sau đây với một số người tự hào cho mình là công chính mà khinh chê người khác:Εἶπεν δὲ ⸀καὶ πρός τινας τοὺς πεποιθότας ἐφ’ ἑαυτοῖς ὅτι εἰσὶν δίκαιοι καὶ ἐξουθενοῦντας τοὺς λοιποὺς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην·Dixit autem et ad quosdam qui in se confidebant tamquam justi, et aspernabantur ceteros, parabolam istam:He also spoke this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others:
Two men went up into the temple to pray: the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.“Có hai người lên đền thờ cầu nguyện. Một người thuộc nhóm Pha-ri-sêu, còn người kia làm nghề thu thuế.Ἄνθρωποι δύο ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν προσεύξασθαι, ⸀ὁ εἷς Φαρισαῖος καὶ ὁ ἕτερος τελώνης.Duo homines ascenderunt in templum ut orarent: unus pharisæus et alter publicanus.“Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican.Người Pha-ri-sêu đứng thẳng, nguyện thầm rằng: ‘Lạy Thiên Chúa, xin tạ ơn Chúa, vì con không như bao kẻ khác: trộm cắp, bất chính, ngoại tình, hoặc như tên thu thuế kia.ὁ Φαρισαῖος σταθεὶς ⸂πρὸς ἑαυτὸν ταῦτα⸃ προσηύχετο· Ὁ θεός, εὐχαριστῶ σοι ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ⸀ὥσπερ οἱ λοιποὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἅρπαγες, ἄδικοι, μοιχοί, ἢ καὶ ὡς οὗτος ὁ τελώνης·Pharisæus stans, hæc apud se orabat: Deus, gratias ago tibi, quia non sum sicut ceteri hominum: raptores, injusti, adulteri, velut etiam hic publicanus:The Pharisee stood and prayed by himself like this: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men: extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
I fast twice in a week: I give tithes of all that I possess.Con ăn chay mỗi tuần hai lần, con dâng cho Chúa một phần mười thu nhập của con.’νηστεύω δὶς τοῦ σαββάτου, ⸀ἀποδεκατῶ πάντα ὅσα κτῶμαι.jejuno bis in sabbato, decimas do omnium quæ possideo.I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’
And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O god, be merciful to me a sinner.Còn người thu thuế thì đứng đằng xa, thậm chí chẳng dám ngước mắt lên trời, nhưng vừa đấm ngực vừa thưa rằng: ‘Lạy Thiên Chúa, xin thương xót con là kẻ tội lỗi.’⸂ὁ δὲ⸃ τελώνης μακρόθεν ἑστὼς οὐκ ἤθελεν οὐδὲ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ⸂ἐπᾶραι εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν⸃, ἀλλ’ ⸀ἔτυπτε τὸ στῆθος ⸀αὐτοῦ λέγων· Ὁ θεός, ἱλάσθητί μοι τῷ ἁμαρτωλῷ. But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather that the other: because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.Tôi nói cho các ông biết: người này, khi trở xuống mà về nhà, thì đã được nên công chính rồi; còn người kia thì không. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
And they brought unto him also infants, that he might touch them. Which when the disciples saw, they rebuked them. They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
But Jesus, calling them together, said: Suffer children to come to me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.Nhưng Đức Giê-su gọi chúng lại mà nói: “Cứ để trẻ em đến với Thầy, đừng ngăn cấm chúng, vì Nước Thiên Chúa là của những ai giống như chúng.ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸂προσεκαλέσατο αὐτὰ λέγων⸃· Ἄφετε τὰ παιδία ἔρχεσθαι πρός με καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτά, τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ.Jesus autem convocans illos, dixit: Sinite pueros venire ad me, et nolite vetare eos: talium est enim regnum Dei.Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
Amen, I say to you: Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a child, shall not enter into it.Thầy bảo thật anh em: Ai không đón nhận Nước Thiên Chúa với tâm hồn một trẻ em, thì sẽ chẳng được vào.”Mt 19,16-22; Mc 10,17-22ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὃς ⸀ἂν μὴ δέξηται τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ ὡς παιδίον, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθῃ εἰς αὐτήν.Amen dico vobis, quicumque non acceperit regnum Dei sicut puer, non intrabit in illud. Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”
And a certain ruler asked him, saying: Good master, what shall I do to possess everlasting life?Có một thủ lãnh hỏi Đức Giê-su: “Thưa Thầy nhân lành, tôi phải làm gì để được sự sống đời đời làm gia nghiệp?”Καὶ ἐπηρώτησέν τις αὐτὸν ἄρχων λέγων· Διδάσκαλε ἀγαθέ, τί ποιήσας ζωὴν αἰώνιον κληρονομήσω;Et interrogavit eum quidam princeps, dicens: Magister bone, quid faciens vitam æternam possidebo?A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him: Why dost thou call me good? None is good but God alone.Đức Giê-su đáp: “Sao ông nói tôi nhân lành? Chẳng có ai nhân lành cả, trừ một mình Thiên Chúa.εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Τί με λέγεις ἀγαθόν; οὐδεὶς ἀγαθὸς εἰ μὴ εἷς ὁ θεός.Dixit autem ei Jesus: Quid me dicis bonum? nemo bonus nisi solus Deus.Jesus asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one: God.
Thou knowest the commandments: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness: Honour thy father and mother.Hẳn ông biết các điều răn: Chớ ngoại tình, chớ giết người, chớ trộm cắp, chớ làm chứng gian, hãy thờ cha kính mẹ.”τὰς ἐντολὰς οἶδας· Μὴ μοιχεύσῃς, Μὴ φονεύσῃς, Μὴ κλέψῃς, Μὴ ψευδομαρτυρήσῃς, Τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν ⸀μητέρα. You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”
Who said: All these things have I kept from my youth.Ông ta nói: “Tất cả những việc đó, tôi đã tuân giữ từ thuở nhỏ.”ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ταῦτα πάντα ⸀ἐφύλαξα ἐκ νεότητος ⸀μου.Qui ait: Hæc omnia custodivi a juventute mea.He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”
Which when Jesus had heard, he said to him: Yet one thing is wanting to thee: sell all whatever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.Nghe vậy, Đức Giê-su bảo ông: “Ông chỉ còn thiếu có một điều, là hãy bán tất cả những gì ông có mà phân phát cho người nghèo, và ông sẽ được một kho tàng trên trời. Rồi hãy đến theo tôi.”ἀκούσας ⸀δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἔτι ἕν σοι λείπει· πάντα ὅσα ἔχεις πώλησον καὶ διάδος πτωχοῖς, καὶ ἕξεις θησαυρὸν ἐν ⸀οὐρανοῖς, καὶ δεῦρο ἀκολούθει μοι.Quo audito, Jesus ait ei: Adhuc unum tibi deest: omnia quæcumque habes vende, et da pauperibus, et habebis thesaurum in cælo: et veni, sequere me.When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
He having heard these things, became sorrowful; for he was very rich.Nghe vậy, ông ta buồn lắm, vì ông rất giàu. His ille auditis, contristatus est: quia dives erat valde. But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.
And Jesus seeing him become sorrowful, said: How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God.Đức Giê-su nhìn ông ta và nói: “Những người có của thì khó vào Nước Thiên Chúa biết bao!Ἰδὼν δὲ αὐτὸν ὁ ⸀Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Πῶς δυσκόλως οἱ τὰ χρήματα ἔχοντες ⸂εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσπορεύονται⸃·Videns autem Jesus illum tristem factum, dixit: Quam difficile, qui pecunias habent, in regnum Dei intrabunt!Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!
For it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.Quả vậy, con lạc đà chui qua lỗ kim còn dễ hơn người giàu vào Nước Thiên Chúa.”εὐκοπώτερον γάρ ἐστιν κάμηλον διὰ ⸂τρήματος βελόνης⸃ εἰσελθεῖν ἢ πλούσιον εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσελθεῖν.facilius est enim camelum per foramen acus transire quam divitem intrare in regnum Dei.For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”
And they that heard it, said: Who then can be saved?Những người nghe Đức Giê-su nói liền hỏi: “Thế thì ai có thể được cứu?”Εἶπαν δὲ οἱ ἀκούσαντες· Καὶ τίς δύναται σωθῆναι;Et dixerunt qui audiebant: Et quis potest salvus fieri? Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”
He said to them: The things that are impossible with men, are possible with God.Người đáp: “Những gì không thể được đối với loài người, thì đều có thể được đối với Thiên Chúa.”Mt 19,27-29; Mc 10,28-30ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Τὰ ἀδύνατα παρὰ ἀνθρώποις δυνατὰ ⸂παρὰ τῷ θεῷ ἐστιν⸃.Ait illis: Quæ impossibilia sunt apud homines, possibilia sunt apud Deum. But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
Then Peter said: Behold, we have left all things, and have followed thee.Ông Phê-rô thưa: “Thầy coi, phần chúng con, chúng con đã bỏ những gì là của mình mà theo Thầy.”Εἶπεν δὲ ⸀ὁ Πέτρος· Ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς ⸂ἀφέντες τὰ ἴδια⸃ ἠκολουθήσαμέν σοι.Ait autem Petrus: Ecce nos dimisimus omnia et secuti sumus te.Peter said, “Look, we have left everything and followed you.”
Who said to them: Amen, I say to you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,Người đáp: “Thầy bảo thật anh em: chẳng hề có ai bỏ nhà, bỏ vợ, anh em, cha mẹ hay con cái vì Nước Thiên Chúa,ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδείς ἐστιν ὃς ἀφῆκεν οἰκίαν ἢ ⸂γυναῖκα ἢ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ γονεῖς⸃ ἢ τέκνα ἕνεκεν τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ,Qui dixit eis: Amen dico vobis, nemo est qui reliquit domum, aut parentes, aut fratres, aut uxorem, aut filios propter regnum Dei,He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,
Who shall not receive much more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.mà lại không được gấp bội ở đời này và sự sống vĩnh cửu ở đời sau.”Mt 20,17-19; Mc 10,32-34ὃς ⸀οὐχὶ μὴ ⸀ἀπολάβῃ πολλαπλασίονα ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τούτῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τῷ ἐρχομένῳ ζωὴν αἰώνιον.et non recipiat multo plura in hoc tempore, et in sæculo venturo vitam æternam.who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.”
Then Jesus took unto him the twelve, and said to them: Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things shall be accomplished which were written by the prophets concerning the Son of man.Đức Giê-su kéo riêng Nhóm Mười Hai ra và nói với các ông: “Này chúng ta lên Giê-ru-sa-lem, và tất cả những gì các ngôn sứ đã viết về Con Người sẽ được hoàn tất.Παραλαβὼν δὲ τοὺς δώδεκα εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Ἰδοὺ ἀναβαίνομεν εἰς ⸀Ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ τελεσθήσεται πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα διὰ τῶν προφητῶν τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου·Assumpsit autem Jesus duodecim, et ait illis: Ecce ascendimus Jerosolymam, et consummabuntur omnia quæ scripta sunt per prophetas de Filio hominis:He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.
For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and scourged, and spit upon:Quả vậy, Người sẽ bị nộp cho dân ngoại, sẽ bị nhạo báng, nhục mạ, khạc nhổ.παραδοθήσεται γὰρ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ ἐμπαιχθήσεται καὶ ὑβρισθήσεται καὶ ἐμπτυσθήσεται,tradetur enim gentibus, et illudetur, et flagellabitur, et conspuetur:For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.
And after they have scourged him, they will put him to death; and the third day he shall rise again.Sau khi đánh đòn, họ sẽ giết Người, và ngày thứ ba Người sẽ sống lại.”καὶ μαστιγώσαντες ἀποκτενοῦσιν αὐτόν, καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ἀναστήσεται.et postquam flagellaverint, occident eum, et tertia die resurget. They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”
And they understood none of these things, and this word was hid from them, and they understood not the things that were said. They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.
Now it came to pass, when he drew nigh to Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the way side, begging. As he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.
And when he heard the multitude passing by, he asked what this meant.Nghe thấy đám đông đi qua, anh ta hỏi xem có chuyện gì.ἀκούσας δὲ ὄχλου διαπορευομένου ἐπυνθάνετο ⸀τί εἴη τοῦτο·Et cum audiret turbam prætereuntem, interrogabat quid hoc esset.Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.
And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.Họ báo cho anh biết là Đức Giê-su Na-da-rét đang đi qua đó.ἀπήγγειλαν δὲ αὐτῷ ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ὁ Ναζωραῖος παρέρχεται.Dixerunt autem ei quod Jesus Nazarenus transiret. They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
And he cried out, saying: Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.Anh liền kêu lên rằng: “Lạy ông Giê-su, Con vua Đa-vít, xin rủ lòng thương tôi!”καὶ ἐβόησεν λέγων· Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.Et clamavit, dicens: Jesu, fili David, miserere mei.He cried out, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”
And they that went before, rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out much more: Son of David, have mercy on me.Những người đi đầu quát nạt, bảo anh ta im đi; nhưng anh càng kêu lớn tiếng: “Lạy Con vua Đa-vít, xin rủ lòng thương tôi!”καὶ οἱ προάγοντες ἐπετίμων αὐτῷ ἵνα ⸀σιγήσῃ· αὐτὸς δὲ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἔκραζεν· Υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.Et qui præibant, increpabant eum ut taceret. Ipse vero multo magis clamabat: Fili David, miserere mei. Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”
And Jesus standing, commanded him to be brought unto him. And when he was come near, he asked him,Đức Giê-su dừng lại, truyền dẫn anh ta đến. Et cum appropinquasset, interrogavit illum,Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,
Saying: What wilt thou that I do to thee? But he said: Lord, that I may see.“Anh muốn tôi làm gì cho anh?” Anh ta đáp: “Lạy Ngài, xin cho tôi nhìn thấy được.”⸀Τί σοι θέλεις ποιήσω; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Κύριε, ἵνα ἀναβλέψω.dicens: Quid tibi vis faciam? At ille dixit: Domine, ut videam.“What do you want me to do?” He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”
And Jesus said to him: Receive thy sight: thy faith hath made thee whole.Đức Giê-su nói: “Anh nhìn thấy đi! Lòng tin của anh đã cứu chữa anh.”καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἀνάβλεψον· ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε.Et Jesus dixit illi: Respice, fides tua te salvum fecit.Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”
And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.Lập tức, anh ta nhìn thấy được và theo Người, vừa đi vừa tôn vinh Thiên Chúa. Et confestim vidit, et sequebatur illum magnificans Deum. Et omnis plebs ut vidit, dedit laudem Deo.Immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.
