And Moses said: By this you shall know that the Lord hath sent me to do all things that you see, and that I have not forged them of my own head:Ông Mô-sê nói: “Cứ thế này mà anh em biết là ĐỨC CHÚA đã sai tôi làm những công việc đó, chứ không phải tôi tự ý làm:καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς Ἐν τούτῳ γνώσεσθε ὅτι Κύριος ἀπέστειλέν με ποιῆσαι πάντα τὰ ἔργα ταῦτα, ὅτι οὐκ ἀπ᾽ ἐμαυτοῦ·וַיֹּאמֶר֮ מֹשֶׁה֒ בְּזֹאת֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּן כִּֽי יְהוָ֣ה שְׁלָחַ֔נִי לַעֲשׂ֕וֹת אֵ֥ת כָּל הַֽמַּעֲשִׂ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה כִּי לֹ֖א מִלִּבִּֽיEt ait Moyses: In hoc scietis quod Dominus miserit me ut facerem universa quæ cernitis, et non ex proprio ea corde protulerim:Moses said, “Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for they are not from my own mind.
If these men die the common death of men, and if they be visited with a plague, wherewith others also are wont to be visited, the Lord did not send me.Nếu những người này chết bình thường như mọi người, nghĩa là số phận chung của mọi người cũng là số phận của họ, thì đúng là ĐỨC CHÚA đã không sai tôi.εἰ κατὰ θάνατον πάντων ἀνθρώπων ἀποθανοῦνται οὗτοι, εἰ καὶ κατ᾽ ἐπίσκεψιν πάντων ἀνθρώπων ἐπισκοπὴ ἔσται αὐτῶν, οὐχὶ Κὺριος ἀπέσταλκὲν με.אִם כְּמ֤וֹת כָּל הָֽאָדָם֙ יְמֻת֣וּן אֵ֔לֶּה וּפְקֻדַּת֙ כָּל הָ֣אָדָ֔ם יִפָּקֵ֖ד עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לֹ֥א יְהוָ֖ה שְׁלָחָֽנִיsi consueta hominum morte interierint, et visitaverit eos plaga, qua et ceteri visitari solent, non misit me Dominus:If these men die the common death of all men, or if they experience what all men experience, then the LORD hasn’t sent me.
But if the Lord do a new thing, and the earth opening her mouth swallow them down, and all things that belong to them, and they go down alive into hell, you shall know that they have blasphemed the Lord.Còn nếu ĐỨC CHÚA làm điều khác thường này là đất mở họng ra nuốt tươi các người ấy cùng với tất cả những gì của họ, nghĩa là họ bị chôn sống dưới âm phủ, thì anh em sẽ biết rằng những người đó đã khinh dể ĐỨC CHÚA.”ἀλλ᾽ ἢ ἐν φάσματι δείξει Κύριος, καὶ ἀνοίξασα ἡ γῆ τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς καταπίεται αὐτοὺς καὶ τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς σκηνὰς αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν αὐτοῖς, καὶ καταβήσονται ζῶντες εἰς ᾅδου, καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι παρώξυναν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι τὸν κύριον.וְאִם בְּרִיאָ֞ה יִבְרָ֣א יְהוָ֗ה וּפָצְתָ֨ה הָאֲדָמָ֤ה אֶת פִּ֨יהָ֙ וּבָלְעָ֤ה אֹתָם֙ וְאֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָהֶ֔ם וְיָרְד֥וּ חַיִּ֖ים שְׁאֹ֑לָה וִֽידַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּ֧י נִֽאֲצ֛וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה אֶת יְהוָֽהsin autem novam rem fecerit Dominus, ut aperiens terra os suum deglutiat eos et omnia quæ ad illos pertinent, descenderintque viventes in infernum, scietis quod blasphemaverint Dominum. But if the LORD makes a new thing, and the ground opens its mouth, and swallows them up with all that belong to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall understand that these men have despised the LORD.”
And immediately as he had made an end of speaking, the earth broke asunder under their feet:Ông vừa nói những lời ấy xong, đất dưới chân họ liền rẽ ra,ὡς δὲ ἐπαύσατο λαλῶν πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους, ἐρράγη ἡ γῆ ὑποκάτω αὐτῶν,וַיְהִי֙ כְּכַלֹּת֔וֹ לְדַבֵּ֕ר אֵ֥ת כָּל הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה וַתִּבָּקַ֥ע הָאֲדָמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּחְתֵּיהֶֽםConfestim igitur ut cessavit loqui, dirupta est terra sub pedibus eorum:As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split apart.
And opening her mouth, devoured them with their tents and all their substance.mở họng nuốt chửng họ, nhà cửa của họ, mọi người nhà của Cô-rắc cũng như tất cả tài sản.καὶ ἠνοίχθη ἡ γῆ καὶ κατέπιεν αὐτοὺς καὶ τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τοὺς ὄντας μετὰ Κόρε καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν.וַתִּפְתַּ֤ח הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ אֶת פִּ֔יהָ וַתִּבְלַ֥ע אֹתָ֖ם וְאֶת בָּתֵּיהֶ֑ם וְאֵ֤ת כָּל הָאָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְקֹ֔רַח וְאֵ֖ת כָּל הָרֲכֽוּשׁet aperiens os suum, devoravit illos cum tabernaculis suis et universa substantia eorum,The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households, all of Korah’s men, and all their goods.
And they went down alive into hell the ground closing upon them, and they perished from among the people. So they, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol. The earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.
But all Israel, that was standing round about, fled at the cry of them that were perishing: saying: Lest perhaps the earth swallow us up also.Tất cả những người Ít-ra-en đứng chung quanh nghe tiếng họ kêu la thì trốn chạy, và nói: “Coi chừng đất nuốt cả chúng ta bây giờ!”καὶ πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ οἱ κύκλῳ αὐτῶν ἔφυγον ἀπὸ τῆς φωνῆς αὐτῶν, ὅτι λέγοντες Μή ποτε καταπίῃ ἡμᾶς ἡ γῆ.וְכָל יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֛ר סְבִיבֹתֵיהֶ֖ם נָ֣סוּ לְקֹלָ֑ם כִּ֣י אָֽמְר֔וּ פֶּן תִּבְלָעֵ֖נוּ הָאָֽרֶץAt vero omnis Israël, qui stabat per gyrum, fugit ad clamorem pereuntium, dicens: Ne forte et nos terra deglutiat. All Israel that were around them fled at their cry; for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up!”
And a fire coming out from the Lord, destroyed the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.ĐỨC CHÚA cho lửa ngốn trọn hai trăm năm mươi người đã dâng hương.καὶ πῦρ ἐξῆλθεν παρὰ Κυρίου καὶ κατέφαγεν τοὺς πεντήκοντα καὶ διακοσίους ἄνδρας τοὺς προσφέροντας τὸ θυμίαμα.וְאֵ֥שׁ יָצְאָ֖ה מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וַתֹּ֗אכַל אֵ֣ת הַחֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וּמָאתַ֨יִם֙ אִ֔ישׁ מַקְרִיבֵ֖י הַקְּטֹֽרֶתSed et ignis egressus a Domino interfecit ducentos quinquaginta viros, qui offerebant incensum.Fire came out from the LORD, and devoured the two hundred fifty men who offered the incense.
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:—Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν—Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens:The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Command Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest to take up the censers that lie in the burning, and to scatter the fire of one side and the other: because they are sanctified—καὶ πρὸς Ἐλεαζὰρ τὸν υἱὸν Ἀαρὼν τὸν ἱερέα Ἀνέλεσθε τὰ πυρεῖα τὰ χαλκᾶ ἐκ μέσου τῶν κατακεκαυμένων, καὶ τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἀλλότριον τοῦτο σπεῖρον ἐκεῖ, ὅτι ἡγίασαν τὰ πυρεῖα τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν τούτων ἐν ταῖς ψυχαῖς αὐτῶν·—Præcipe Eleazaro filio Aaron sacerdoti ut tollat thuribula quæ jacent in incendio, et ignem huc illucque dispergat: quoniam sanctificata sunt“Speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter the fire away from the camp; for they are holy,
In the deaths of the sinners: and let him beat them into plates, and fasten them to the altar, because incense hath been offered in them to the Lord, and they are sanctified, that the children of Israel may see them for a sign and a memorial.—καὶ ποίησον αὐτὰ λεπίδας ἐλατάς, περίθεμα τῷ θυσιαστηρίῳ, ὅτι προσηνέχθησαν ἔναντι Κυρίου καὶ ἡγιάσθησαν, καὶ ἐγένοντο εἰς σημεῖον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ.—in mortibus peccatorum: producatque ea in laminas, et affigat altari, eo quod oblatum sit in eis incensum Domino, et sanctificata sint, ut cernant ea pro signo et monimento filii Israël.even the censers of those who sinned against their own lives. Let them be beaten into plates for a covering of the altar, for they offered them before the LORD. Therefore they are holy. They shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”
Then Eleazar the priest took the brazen censers, wherein they had offered, whom the burning fire had devoured, and beat them into plates, fastening them to the altar:—καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἐλεαζὰρ υἱὸς Ἀαρὼν τοῦ ἱερέως τὰ πυρεῖα τὰ χαλκᾶ ὅσα προσήνεγκαν οἱ κατακεκαυμένοι, καὶ προσέθηκαν αὐτὰ περίθεμα τῷ θυσιαστηρίῳ,—Tulit ergo Eleazar sacerdos thuribula ænea, in quibus obtulerant hi quos incendium devoravit, et produxit ea in laminas, affigens altari:Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers which those who were burned had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar,
That the children of Israel might have for the time to come wherewith they should be admonished, that no stranger or any one that is not of seed of Aaron should come near to offer incense to the Lord, lest he should suffer as Core suffered, and all his congregation, according as the Lord spoke to Moses.—μνημόσυνον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ, ὅπως ἂν μὴ προσέλθῃ μηθεὶς ἀλλογενής, ὃς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος Ἀαρών, ἐπιθεῖναι θυμίαμα ἔναντι Κυρίου, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὥσπερ Κόρε καὶ ἡ ἐπισύστασις αὐτοῦ· καθὰ ἐλάλησεν Κύριος ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ αὐτῷ.—ut haberent postea filii Israël, quibus commonerentur ne quis accedat alienigena, et qui non est de semine Aaron ad offerendum incensum Domino, ne patiatur sicut passus est Core, et omnis congregatio ejus, loquente Domino ad Moysen.to be a memorial to the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger who isn’t of the offspring of Aaron, would come near to burn incense before the LORD, that he not be as Korah and as his company; as the LORD spoke to him by Moses.
The following day all the multitude of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying: You have killed the people of the Lord.—Καὶ ἐγόγγυσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραήλ τῇ αὔριον ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Ἀαρὼν λέγοντες Ὑμεῖς ἀπεκτάνκατε τὸν λαὸν Κυρίου.—Murmuravit autem omnis multitudo filiorum Israël sequenti die contra Moysen et Aaron, dicens: Vos interfecistis populum Domini. But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed the LORD’s people!”
And when there arose a sedition, and the tumult increased,—καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐπισυστρέφεσθαι τὴν συναγωγὴν ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Ἀαρών, καὶ ὥρμησαν ἐπὶ τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου· καὶ τήνδε, ἐκάλυψεν αὐτὴν ἡ νεφέλη, καὶ ὤφθη ἡ δόξα Κυρίου.—Cumque oriretur seditio, et tumultus incresceret,When the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, they looked toward the Tent of Meeting. Behold, the cloud covered it, and the LORD’s glory appeared.
Moses and Aaron fled to the tabernacle of the covenant. And when the were gone into it, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.—καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου·—Moyses et Aaron fugerunt ad tabernaculum fœderis. Quod, postquam ingressi sunt, operuit nubes, et apparuit gloria Domini.Moses and Aaron came to the front of the Tent of Meeting.
And the Lord said to Moses:—καὶ ἐλάλησεν Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ Ἀαρὼν λέγων—Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen:The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Get you out from the midst of this multitude, this moment will I destroy them. And as they were lying on the ground,—Ἐκχωρήσατε ἐκ μέσου τῆς συναγωγῆς ταύτης, καὶ ἐξαναλώσω αὐτοὺς εἰς ἅπαξ. καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν.—Recedite de medio hujus multitudinis, etiam nunc delebo eos. Cumque jacerent in terra,“Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!” They fell on their faces.
Moses said to Aaron: Take the censer, and putting fire in it from the altar, put incense upon it, and go quickly to the people to pray for them: for already wrath is gone out from the Lord, and the plague rageth.—καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς Ἀαρών Λάβε τὸ πυρεῖον, καὶ ἐπίθες ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸ πῦρ ἀπὸ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου, καὶ ἐπίβαλε ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸ θυμίαμα, καὶ ἀπένεγκε τὸ τάχος εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν, καὶ ἐξιλάσεται περὶ αὐτῶν· ἐξῆλθεν γὰρ ὀργὴ ἀπὸ προσώπου Κυρίου, ἦρκται θραύειν τὸν λαόν.—dixit Moyses ad Aaron: Tolle thuribulum, et hausto igne de altari, mitte incensum desuper, pergens cito ad populum, ut roges pro eis: jam enim egressa est ira a Domino, et plaga desævit.Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the LORD! The plague has begun.”
When Aaron had done this, and had run to the midst of the multitude which the burning fire was now destroying, he offered the incense:—καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἀαρὼν καθάπερ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ Μωυσῆς, καὶ ἔδραμεν εἰς τὴν συναγωγήν· καὶ ἤδη ἐνῆρκται ἡ θραῦσις ἐν τῷ λαῷ. καὶ ἐπέβαλεν τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ ἐξιλάσατο περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ·—Quod cum fecisset Aaron, et cucurrisset ad mediam multitudinem, quam jam vastabat incendium, obtulit thymiama:Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the middle of the assembly. The plague had already begun among the people. He put on the incense, and made atonement for the people.
And standing between the dead and the living, he prayed for the people, and the plague ceased.—καὶ ἔστη ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν τεθνηκότων καὶ τῶν ζώντων, καὶ ἐκόπασεν ἡ θραῦσις ἐν τῷ λαῷ.—et stans inter mortuos ac viventes, pro populo deprecatus est, et plaga cessavit. He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
And the number of them that were slain was fourteen thousand and seven hundred men, besides them that had perished in the sedition of Core.—καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ τεθνηκότες ἐν τῇ θραύσει τέσσαρες καὶ δέκα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι, χωρὶς τῶν τεθνηκότων ἕνεκεν Κόρε.—Fuerunt autem qui percussi sunt, quatuordecim millia hominum, et septingenti, absque his qui perierant in seditione Core. Now those who died by the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, in addition to those who died about the matter of Korah.
And Aaron returned to Moses to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant after the destruction was over.—καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Ἀαρὼν πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἐκόπασεν ἡ θραῦσις.—Reversusque est Aaron ad Moysen ad ostium tabernaculi fœderis postquam quievit interitus.Aaron returned to Moses to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and the plague was stopped.
