| 1 | And when great multitudes stood about him, so that they trod one upon another, he began to say to his disciples: Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. | Trong lúc ấy, đám đông tụ họp hàng vạn người, đến nỗi giẫm lên nhau. | 2 | For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed: nor hidden, that shall not be known. | Không có gì che giấu mà sẽ không bị lộ ra, không có gì bí mật mà người ta sẽ không biết. | οὐδὲν δὲ συγκεκαλυμμένον ἐστὶν ὃ οὐκ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται, καὶ κρυπτὸν ὃ οὐ γνωσθήσεται. | Nihil autem opertum est, quod non reveletur: neque absconditum, quod non sciatur. | But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. |
| 3 | For whatsoever things you have spoken in darkness, shall be published in the light: and that which you have spoken in the ear in the chambers, shall be preached on the housetops. | Vì thế, tất cả những gì anh em nói lúc đêm hôm, sẽ được nghe giữa ban ngày; và điều anh em rỉ tai trong buồng kín, sẽ được công bố trên mái nhà. | ἀνθ’ ὧν ὅσα ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ εἴπατε ἐν τῷ φωτὶ ἀκουσθήσεται, καὶ ὃ πρὸς τὸ οὖς ἐλαλήσατε ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις κηρυχθήσεται ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων. | Quoniam quæ in tenebris dixistis, in lumine dicentur: et quod in aurem locuti estis in cubiculis, prædicabitur in tectis. | Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. |
| 4 | And I say to you, my friends: Be not afraid of them who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. | “Thầy nói cho anh em là bạn hữu của Thầy được biết: Anh em đừng sợ những kẻ giết thân xác, mà sau đó không làm gì hơn được nữa. | Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν τοῖς φίλοις μου, μὴ φοβηθῆτε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποκτεινόντων τὸ σῶμα καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα μὴ ἐχόντων περισσότερόν τι ποιῆσαι. | Dico autem vobis amicis meis: Ne terreamini ab his qui occidunt corpus, et post hæc non habent amplius quid faciant. | “I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. |
| 5 | But I will shew you whom you shall fear: fear ye him, who after he hath killed, hath power to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you, fear him. | Thầy sẽ chỉ cho anh em biết phải sợ ai: hãy sợ Đấng đã giết rồi, lại có quyền ném vào hoả ngục. Thật vậy, Thầy nói cho anh em biết: anh em hãy sợ Đấng ấy. | ὑποδείξω δὲ ὑμῖν τίνα φοβηθῆτε· φοβήθητε τὸν μετὰ τὸ ἀποκτεῖναι ⸂ἔχοντα ἐξουσίαν⸃ ἐμβαλεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν· ναί, λέγω ὑμῖν, τοῦτον φοβήθητε. | Ostendam autem vobis quem timeatis: timete eum qui, postquam occiderit, habet potestatem mittere in gehennam: ita dico vobis, hunc timete. | But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him. |
| 6 | Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? | Năm con chim sẻ chỉ bán được hai hào, phải không? Thế mà không một con nào bị bỏ quên trước mặt Thiên Chúa. | οὐχὶ πέντε στρουθία ⸀πωλοῦνται ἀσσαρίων δύο; καὶ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπιλελησμένον ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ. | Nonne quinque passeres veneunt dipondio, et unus ex illis non est in oblivione coram Deo? | “Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God. |
| 7 | Yea, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows. | Ngay đến tóc trên đầu anh em cũng được đếm cả rồi. Anh em đừng sợ, anh em còn quý giá hơn muôn vàn chim sẻ. | ἀλλὰ καὶ αἱ τρίχες τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν πᾶσαι ἠρίθμηνται· ⸀μὴ φοβεῖσθε· πολλῶν στρουθίων διαφέρετε. | sed et capilli capitis vestri omnes numerati sunt. Nolite ergo timere: multis passeribus pluris estis vos. | But the very hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. |
| 8 | And I say to you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God. | “Thầy nói cho anh em biết: Phàm ai tuyên bố nhận Thầy trước mặt thiên hạ, thì Con Người cũng sẽ tuyên bố nhận người ấy trước mặt các thiên thần của Thiên Chúa. | Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, πᾶς ὃς ἂν ⸀ὁμολογήσῃ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὁμολογήσει ἐν αὐτῷ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ· | Dico autem vobis: Omnis quicumque confessus fuerit me coram hominibus, et Filius hominis confitebitur illum coram angelis Dei: | “I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, the Son of Man will also confess before the angels of God; |
| 9 | But he that shall deny me before men, shall be denied before the angels of God. | Còn ai chối Thầy trước mặt thiên hạ, thì sẽ bị chối trước mặt các thiên thần của Thiên Chúa. | ὁ δὲ ἀρνησάμενός με ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἀπαρνηθήσεται ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ. | qui autem negaverit me coram hominibus, negabitur coram angelis Dei. | but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of God’s angels. |
| 10 | And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven. | “Bất cứ ai nói phạm đến Con Người, thì còn được tha; nhưng ai nói phạm đến Thánh Thần, thì sẽ chẳng được tha. | καὶ πᾶς ὃς ἐρεῖ λόγον εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ τῷ δὲ εἰς τὸ ἅγιον πνεῦμα βλασφημήσαντι οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται. | Et omnis qui dicit verbum in Filium hominis, remittetur illi: ei autem qui in Spiritum Sanctum blasphemaverit, non remittetur. | Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. |
| 11 | And when they shall bring you into the synagogues, and to magistrates and powers, be not solicitous how or what you shall answer, or what you shall say; | “Khi người ta đưa anh em ra trước hội đường, trước mặt những người lãnh đạo và những người cầm quyền, thì anh em đừng lo phải bào chữa làm sao, hoặc phải nói gì, | ὅταν δὲ ⸀εἰσφέρωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐπὶ τὰς συναγωγὰς καὶ τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰς ἐξουσίας, μὴ ⸀μεριμνήσητε πῶς ⸂ἢ τί⸃ ἀπολογήσησθε ἢ τί εἴπητε· | Cum autem inducent vos in synagogas, et ad magistratus, et potestates, nolite solliciti esse qualiter, aut quid respondeatis, aut quid dicatis. | When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer or what you will say; |
| 12 | For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what you must say. | vì ngay trong giờ đó, Thánh Thần sẽ dạy cho anh em biết những điều phải nói.” | τὸ γὰρ ἅγιον πνεῦμα διδάξει ὑμᾶς ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἃ δεῖ εἰπεῖν. | Spiritus enim Sanctus docebit vos in ipsa hora quid oporteat vos dicere. | for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.” |
| 13 | And one of the multitude said to him: Master, speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me. | Có người trong đám đông nói với Đức Giê-su rằng: “Thưa Thầy, xin Thầy bảo anh tôi chia phần gia tài cho tôi.” | Εἶπεν δέ τις ⸂ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου αὐτῷ⸃· Διδάσκαλε, εἰπὲ τῷ ἀδελφῷ μου μερίσασθαι μετ’ ἐμοῦ τὴν κληρονομίαν. | Ait autem ei quidam de turba: Magister, dic fratri meo ut dividat mecum hæreditatem. | One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” |
| 14 | But he said to him: Man, who hath appointed me judge, or divider, over you? | Người đáp: “Này anh, ai đã đặt tôi làm người xử kiện hay người chia gia tài cho các anh?” | ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἄνθρωπε, τίς με κατέστησεν ⸀κριτὴν ἢ μεριστὴν ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς; | At ille dixit illi: Homo, quis me constituit judicem, aut divisorem super vos? | But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?” |
| 15 | And he said to them: Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man’s life doth not consist in the abundance of things which he possesseth. | Và Người nói với họ: “Anh em phải coi chừng, phải giữ mình khỏi mọi thứ tham lam, không phải vì dư giả mà mạng sống con người được bảo đảm nhờ của cải đâu.” | εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς· Ὁρᾶτε καὶ φυλάσσεσθε ἀπὸ ⸀πάσης πλεονεξίας, ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τῷ περισσεύειν τινὶ ἡ ζωὴ ⸀αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ἐκ τῶν ὑπαρχόντων ⸀αὐτῷ. | Dixitque ad illos: Videte, et cavete ab omni avaritia: quia non in abundantia cujusquam vita ejus est ex his quæ possidet. | He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.” |
| 16 | And he spoke a similitude to them, saying: The land of a certain rich man brought forth plenty of fruits. | Sau đó Người nói với họ dụ ngôn này: “Có một nhà phú hộ kia, ruộng nương sinh nhiều hoa lợi, | εἶπεν δὲ παραβολὴν πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων· Ἀνθρώπου τινὸς πλουσίου εὐφόρησεν ἡ χώρα. | Dixit autem similitudinem ad illos, dicens: Hominis cujusdam divitis uberes fructus ager attulit: | He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man produced abundantly. |
| 17 | And he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? | mới nghĩ bụng rằng: ‘Mình phải làm gì đây? Vì còn chỗ đâu mà tích trữ hoa mầu!’ | καὶ διελογίζετο ἐν ⸀ἑαυτῷ λέγων· Τί ποιήσω, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχω ποῦ συνάξω τοὺς καρπούς μου; | et cogitabat intra se dicens: Quid faciam, quia non habeo quo congregem fructus meos? | He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’ |
| 18 | And he said: This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and will build greater; and into them will I gather all things that are grown to me, and my goods. | Rồi ông ta tự bảo: ‘Mình sẽ làm thế này: phá những cái kho kia đi, xây những cái lớn hơn, rồi tích trữ tất cả thóc lúa và của cải mình vào đó. | καὶ εἶπεν· Τοῦτο ποιήσω· καθελῶ μου τὰς ἀποθήκας καὶ μείζονας οἰκοδομήσω, καὶ συνάξω ἐκεῖ πάντα ⸂τὸν σῖτον⸃ καὶ τὰ ἀγαθά μου, | Et dixit: Hoc faciam: destruam horrea mea, et majora faciam: et illuc congregabo omnia quæ nata sunt mihi, et bona mea, | He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. |
| 19 | And I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years take thy rest; eat, drink, make good cheer. | Lúc ấy ta sẽ nhủ lòng: hồn ta hỡi, mình bây giờ ê hề của cải, dư xài nhiều năm. Thôi, cứ nghỉ ngơi, cứ ăn uống vui chơi cho đã!’ | καὶ ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου· Ψυχή, ἔχεις πολλὰ ἀγαθὰ κείμενα εἰς ἔτη πολλά· ἀναπαύου, φάγε, πίε, εὐφραίνου. | et dicam animæ meæ: Anima, habes multa bona posita in annos plurimos: requiesce, comede, bibe, epulare. | I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’ |
| 20 | But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee: and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? | Nhưng Thiên Chúa bảo ông ta: ‘Đồ ngốc! Nội đêm nay, người ta sẽ đòi lại mạng ngươi, thì những gì ngươi sắm sãn đó sẽ về tay ai?’ | εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεός· ⸀Ἄφρων, ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τὴν ψυχήν σου ⸀ἀπαιτοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ· ἃ δὲ ἡτοίμασας, τίνι ἔσται; | Dixit autem illi Deus: Stulte, hac nocte animam tuam repetunt a te: quæ autem parasti, cujus erunt? | “But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’ |
| 21 | So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God. | Ấy kẻ nào thu tích của cải cho mình, mà không lo làm giàu trước mặt Thiên Chúa, thì số phận cũng như thế đó.”Mt 6,25-34 | οὕτως ὁ θησαυρίζων ⸀ἑαυτῷ καὶ μὴ εἰς θεὸν πλουτῶν. | Sic est qui sibi thesaurizat, et non est in Deum dives. | So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” |
| 22 | And he said to his disciples: Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat; nor for your body, what you shall put on. | Đức Giê-su nói với các môn đệ rằng: “Vì vậy, Thầy bảo cho anh em biết: Đừng lo cho mạng sống: lấy gì mà ăn; cũng đừng lo cho thân thể: lấy gì mà mặc; | Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ· Διὰ τοῦτο ⸂λέγω ὑμῖν⸃, μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ⸀ψυχῇ τί φάγητε, μηδὲ τῷ ⸀σώματι τί ἐνδύσησθε. | Dixitque ad discipulos suos: Ideo dico vobis, nolite solliciti esse animæ vestræ quid manducetis, neque corpori quid induamini. | He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear. |
| 23 | The life is more than the meat, and the body is more than the raiment. | vì mạng sống thì hơn của ăn, và thân thể thì hơn áo mặc. | ἡ ⸀γὰρ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστιν τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος. | Anima plus est quam esca, et corpus plus quam vestimentum. | Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. |
| 24 | Consider the ravens, for they sow not, neither do they reap, neither have they storehouse nor barn, and God feedeth them. How much are you more valuable than they? | Hãy nhìn những con quạ mà suy: chúng không gieo, không gặt, cũng không có kho có lẫm, thế mà Thiên Chúa vẫn nuôi chúng. Anh em còn quý giá hơn loài chim biết bao! | κατανοήσατε τοὺς κόρακας ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν, οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ταμεῖον οὐδὲ ἀποθήκη, καὶ ὁ θεὸς τρέφει αὐτούς· πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμεῖς διαφέρετε τῶν πετεινῶν. | Considerate corvos, quia non seminant, neque metunt, quibus non est cellarium, neque horreum, et Deus pascit illos. Quanto magis vos pluris estis illis? | Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds! |
| 25 | And which of you, by taking thought, can add to his stature one cubit? | Hỏi có ai trong anh em, nhờ lo lắng, mà kéo dài đời mình thêm được một gang tay? | τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται ⸂ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ προσθεῖναι⸃ ⸀πῆχυν; | Quis autem vestrum cogitando potest adjicere ad staturam suam cubitum unum? | Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height? |
| 26 | If then ye be not able to do so much as the least thing, why are you solicitous for the rest? | Vậy, việc nhỏ nhất mà anh em còn làm không được, thì anh em lo lắng về những việc khác làm gì? | εἰ οὖν ⸀οὐδὲ ἐλάχιστον δύνασθε, τί περὶ τῶν λοιπῶν μεριμνᾶτε; | Si ergo neque quod minimum est potestis, quid de ceteris solliciti estis? | If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest? |
| 27 | Consider the lilies, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. But I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these. | Hãy nhìn hoa huệ mà suy: chúng không kéo sợi, không dệt vải, thế mà, Thầy bảo cho anh em biết: ngay cả vua Sa-lô-môn, dù vinh hoa tột bậc, cũng không mặc đẹp bằng một bông hoa ấy. | κατανοήσατε τὰ κρίνα πῶς αὐξάνει· οὐ κοπιᾷ οὐδὲ νήθει· λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων. | Considerate lilia quomodo crescunt: non laborant, neque nent: dico autem vobis, nec Salomon in omni gloria sua vestiebatur sicut unum ex istis. | Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. |
| 28 | Now if God clothe in this manner the grass that is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more you, O ye of little faith? | Vậy nếu hoa cỏ ngoài đồng, nay còn, mai đã quẳng vào lò, mà Thiên Chúa còn mặc đẹp cho như thế, thì huống hồ là anh em, ôi những kẻ kém tin! | εἰ δὲ ⸂ἐν ἀγρῷ τὸν χόρτον ὄντα σήμερον⸃ καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ⸀ἀμφιέζει, πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι. | Si autem fœnum, quod hodie est in agro, et cras in clibanum mittitur, Deus sic vestit: quanto magis vos pusillæ fidei? | But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith? |
| 29 | And seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink: and be not lifted up on high. | Phần anh em, đừng tìm xem mình sẽ ăn gì, uống gì, và đừng bận tâm. | καὶ ὑμεῖς μὴ ζητεῖτε τί φάγητε ⸀καὶ τί πίητε, καὶ μὴ μετεωρίζεσθε, | Et vos nolite quærere quid manducetis, aut quid bibatis: et nolite in sublime tolli: | “Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious. |
| 30 | For all these things do the nations of the world seek. But your Father knoweth that you have need of these things. | Vì tất cả những thứ đó, dân ngoại trên thế gian vẫn tìm kiếm; nhưng Cha của anh em thừa biết anh em cần những thứ đó. | ταῦτα γὰρ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τοῦ κόσμου ⸀ἐπιζητοῦσιν, ὑμῶν δὲ ὁ πατὴρ οἶδεν ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων. | hæc enim omnia gentes mundi quærunt. Pater autem vester scit quoniam his indigetis. | For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things. |
| 31 | But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. | Vậy hãy lo tìm Nước của Người, còn các thứ kia, Người sẽ thêm cho. | πλὴν ζητεῖτε τὴν βασιλείαν ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ⸀ταῦτα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν. | Verumtamen quærite primum regnum Dei, et justitiam ejus: et hæc omnia adjicientur vobis. | But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you. |
| 32 | Fear not, little flock, for it hath pleased your Father to give you a kingdom. | “Hỡi đoàn chiên nhỏ bé, đừng sợ, vì Cha anh em đã vui lòng ban Nước của Người cho anh em.Mt 6,19-21 | Μὴ φοβοῦ, τὸ μικρὸν ποίμνιον, ὅτι εὐδόκησεν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν βασιλείαν. | Nolite timere pusillus grex, quia complacuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum. | “Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. |
| 33 | Sell what you possess and give alms. Make to yourselves bags which grow not old, a treasure in heaven which faileth not: where no thief approacheth, nor moth corrupteth. | “Hãy bán tài sản của mình đi mà bố thí.
