Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:Bấy giờ ông Xô-pha, người Na-a-mát lên tiếng nói:Ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Σωφὰρ ὁ Μειναῖος λέγειוַ֭יַּעַן צֹפַ֥ר הַֽנַּעֲמָתִ֗י וַיֹּאמַֽרRespondens autem Sophar Naamathites, dixit:Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,
Shall not he that speaketh much, hear also? or shall a man full of talk be justified?Kẻ nhiều lời, phải chăng không ai đối đáp nổi?Khéo ăn khéo nói là chính trực hay sao?Ὁ τὰ πολλὰ λέγων καὶ ἀντακούσεται· ἢ καὶ ὁ εὔλαλος οἴεται εἶναι δίκαιος;הֲרֹ֣ב דְּ֭בָרִים לֹ֣א יֵעָנֶ֑ה וְאִם אִ֖ישׁ שְׂפָתַ֣יִם יִצְדָּֽק[Numquid qui multa loquitur, non et audiet? aut vir verbosus justificabitur?“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?
Shall men hold their peace to thee only? and when thou hast mocked others, shall no man confute thee? Tibi soli tacebunt homines? et cum ceteros irriseris, a nullo confutaberis?Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, will no man make you ashamed?
For thou hast said: My word is pure, and I am clean in thy sight. For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’
And I wish that God would speak with thee, and would open his lips to thee,Nhưng phải chi Thiên Chúa lên tiếngđể trực tiếp ngỏ lời với anh.ἀλλὰ πῶς ἂν ὁ κύριος λαλήσαι πρὸς σέ; καὶ ἀνοίξει χείλη αὐτοῦ μετὰ σοῦ;וְֽאוּלָ֗ם מִֽי יִתֵּ֣ן אֱל֣וֹהַּ דַּבֵּ֑ר וְיִפְתַּ֖ח שְׂפָתָ֣יו עִמָּֽךְAtque utinam Deus loqueretur tecum, et aperiret labia sua tibi,But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,
That he might shew thee the secrets of wisdom, and that his law is manifold, and thou mightest understand that he exacteth much less of thee, than thy iniquity deserveth. וְיַגֶּד לְךָ֨ תַּֽעֲלֻמ֣וֹת חָכְמָה֮ כִּֽי כִפְלַ֪יִם לְֽת֫וּשִׁיָּ֥ה וְדַ֡ע כִּֽי יַשֶּׁ֥ה לְךָ֥ אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַ מֵעֲוֺנֶֽךָut ostenderet tibi secreta sapientiæ, et quod multiplex esset lex ejus: et intelligeres quod multo minora exigaris ab eo quam meretur iniquitas tua!that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.
Peradventure thou wilt comprehend the steps of God, and wilt find out the Almighty perfectly? Forsitan vestigia Dei comprehendes, et usque ad perfectum Omnipotentem reperies?“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
He is higher than heaven, and what wilt thou do? he is deeper than hell, and how wilt thou know?Sự tuyệt hảo của Ngườicao hơn các tầng trời, liệu anh làm gì được,sâu thẳm hơn âm phủ, hỏi anh biết được gì,ὑψηλὸς ὁ οὐρανός, καὶ τί ποιήσεις; βαθύτερα δὲ τῶν ἐν ᾅδου· τί οἶδας;גָּבְהֵ֣י שָׁ֭מַיִם מַה תִּפְעָ֑ל עֲמֻקָּ֥ה מִ֝שְּׁא֗וֹל מַה תֵּדָֽעExcelsior cælo est, et quid facies? profundior inferno, et unde cognosces? They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know?
The measure of him is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.trải dài hơn cõi đất, rộng hơn cả biển sâu?ἢ μακρότερα μέτρου γῆς ἢ εὔρους θαλάσσης. Longior terra mensura ejus, et latior mari. Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
If he shall overturn all things, or shall press them together, who shall contradict him?Nếu Người đi qua để cầm tù, và triệu tập đại hội để xử án,thì ai ngăn cản được Người?ἐὰν δὲ καταστρέψῃ τὰ πάντα, τίς ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ Τί ἐποίησας;אִם יַחֲלֹ֥ף וְיַסְגִּ֑יר וְ֝יַקְהִ֗יל וּמִ֣י יְשִׁיבֶֽנּוּSi subverterit omnia, vel in unum coarctaverit, quis contradicet ei?If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?
For he knoweth the vanity of men, and when he seeth iniquity, doth he not consider it?Quả thật, Người biết rõ quân vô loại,tội ác, Người thấy ngay mà không cần chú ý.αὐτὸς γὰρ οἶδεν ἔργα ἀνόμων, ἰδὼν δὲ ἄτοπα οὐ παρόψεται. For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.
A vain man is lifted up into pride, and thinketh himself born free like a wild ass’s colt.Vì thế, kẻ ngu si sẽ thành người am hiểu,và lừa hoang được huấn luyện thành người.ἄνθρωπος δὲ ἄλλως νήχεται λόγοις· βροτὸς δὲ γεννητὸς γυναικὸς ἴσα ὄνῳ ἐρημίτῃ. Vir vanus in superbiam erigitur, et tamquam pullum onagri se liberum natum putat. An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.
Rut thou hast hardened thy heart, and hast spread thy hands to him. Tu autem firmasti cor tuum, et expandisti ad eum manus tuas.“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.
If thou wilt put away from thee the iniquity that is in thy hand, and lot not injustice remain in thy tabernacle:nếu anh ném xa điều gian ác trong tay,và không để cho bất công cư ngụ trong lều,εἰ ἄνομόν τί ἐστιν ἐν χερσίν σου, πόρρω ποίησον αὐτὸ ἀπὸ σοῦ, ἀδικία δὲ ἐν διαίτῃ σου μὴ αὐλισθήτω. Si iniquitatem quæ est in manu tua abstuleris a te, et non manserit in tabernaculo tuo injustitia,If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.
Then mayst thou lift up thy face without spot, and thou shalt be steadfast, and shalt not fear.thì bấy giờ, anh sẽ ngẩng mặt lên, không tỳ ố,anh sẽ được vững vàng, không sợ hãi chi.οὕτως γὰρ ἀναλάμψει σου τὸ πρόσωπον ὥσπερ ὕδωρ καθαρόν, ἐκδύσῃ δὲ ῥύπον καὶ οὐ μὴ φοβηθῇς·כִּי אָ֤ז תִּשָּׂ֣א פָנֶ֣יךָ מִמּ֑וּם וְהָיִ֥יתָ מֻ֝צָ֗ק וְלֹ֣א תִירָֽאtunc levare poteris faciem tuam absque macula; et eris stabilis, et non timebis.Surely then you will lift up your face without spot. Yes, you will be steadfast, and will not fear,
Thou shalt also forget misery, and remember it only as waters that are passed away.Vì bấy giờ anh sẽ quên tai hoạ,dù anh nhớ tới, nó cũng như dòng nước đã chảy qua.καὶ τὸν κόπον ἐπιλήσῃ ὥσπερ κῦμα παρελθόν, καὶ οὐ πτοηθήσῃ·כִּי אַ֭תָּה עָמָ֣ל תִּשְׁכָּ֑ח כְּמַ֖יִם עָבְר֣וּ תִזְכֹּֽרMiseriæ quoque oblivisceris, et quasi aquarum quæ præterierunt recordaberis.for you will forget your misery. You will remember it like waters that have passed away.
And brightness like that of the noonday, shall arise to thee at evening: and when thou shalt think thyself consumed, thou shalt rise as the day star.Đời anh sẽ huy hoàng hơn mặt trời chính ngọ,và tháng ngày tăm tốisẽ trở thành như những buổi bình minh.ἡ δὲ εὐχή σου ὥσπερ ἑωσφόρος, ἐκ δὲ μεσημβρίας ἀνατελεῖ σοι ζωή·וּֽ֭מִצָּהֳרַיִם יָק֣וּם חָ֑לֶד תָּ֝עֻ֗פָה כַּבֹּ֥קֶר תִּהְיֶֽהEt quasi meridianus fulgor consurget tibi ad vesperam; et cum te consumptum putaveris, orieris ut lucifer.Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.
And thou shalt have confidence, hope being set before thee, and being buried thou shalt sleep secure.Anh sẽ được vững dạ an lòng vì có niềm hy vọng:dù đã phải thẹn thùng xấu hổ,anh sẽ được nghỉ ngơi yên hàn.πεποιθώς τε ἔσῃ ὅτι ἔστιν σοι ἐλπίς, ἐκ δὲ μερίμνης καὶ φροντίδος ἀναφανεῖταί σοι εἰρήνη. Et habebis fiduciam, proposita tibi spe: et defossus securus dormies. You will be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you will search, and will take your rest in safety.
Thou shalt rest, and there shall be none to make thee afraid: and many shall entreat thy face. Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favor.
But the eyes of the wicked shall decay, and the way to escape shall fail them, and their hope the abomination of the soul.Còn quân gian ác có mỏi mắt tìmcũng chẳng thấy nơi nương ẩn,hy vọng của chúng là trút hơi thở cuối cùng.σωτηρία δὲ αὐτοὺς ἀπολείψει· ἡ γὰρ ἐλπὶς αὐτῶν ἀπώλεια, ὀφθαλμοὶ δὲ ἀσεβῶν τακήσονται.וְעֵינֵ֥י רְשָׁעִ֗ים תִּ֫כְלֶ֥ינָה וּ֭מָנוֹס אָבַ֣ד מִנְהֶ֑ם וְ֝תִקְוָתָ֗ם מַֽפַּח נָֽפֶשׁOculi autem impiorum deficient, et effugium peribit ab eis: et spes illorum abominatio animæ.]But the eyes of the wicked will fail. They will have no way to flee. Their hope will be the giving up of the spirit.”
