In the mean time there arose a murmuring of the people against the Lord, as it were repining at their fatigue. And when the Lord heard it he was angry. And the fire of the Lord being kindled against them, devoured them that were at the uttermost part of the camp. Quod cum audisset Dominus, iratus est. Et accensus in eos ignis Domini, devoravit extremam castrorum partem. The people were complaining in the ears of the LORD. When the LORD heard it, his anger burned; and the LORD’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
And when the people cried to Moses, Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire was swallowed up.Dân liền kêu cứu ông Mô-sê, ông Mô-sê chuyển cầu lên ĐỨC CHÚA, và lửa đã tắt.καὶ ἐκέκραξεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν· καὶ ηὔξατο Μωυσῆς πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ ἐκόπασεν τὸ πῦρ. The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to the LORD, and the fire abated.
And he called the name of that place, The burning: for that the fire of the Lord had been kindled against them. The name of that place was called Taberah, because the LORD’s fire burned among them.
For a mixt multitude of people, that came up with them, burned with desire, sitting and weeping, the children of Israel also being joined with them, and said: Who shall give us flesh to eat?Đám dân ô hợp sống giữa dân Ít-ra-en bắt đầu thèm ăn, và cả con cái Ít-ra-en cũng khóc lóc mà nói: “Ai sẽ cho chúng ta có thịt ăn đây?Καὶ ὁ ἐπίμικτος ὁ ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐπεθύμησεν ἐπιθυμίαν· καὶ καθίσαντες ἔκλαιον καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ εἶπαν Τίς ἡμᾶς ψωμιεῖ κρέας;וְהָֽאסַפְסֻף֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ הִתְאַוּ֖וּ תַּאֲוָ֑ה וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ וַיִּבְכּ֗וּ גַּ֚ם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מִ֥י יַאֲכִלֵ֖נוּ בָּשָֽׂרVulgus quippe promiscuum, quod ascenderat cum eis, flagravit desiderio, sedens et flens, junctis sibi pariter filiis Israël, et ait: Quis dabit nobis ad vescendum carnes? The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us meat to eat?
We remember the Ash that we ate in Egypt free cost: the cucumbers come into our mind, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic.Nhớ thuở nào ta ăn cá bên Ai-cập mà không phải trả tiền, rồi nào dưa gang, dưa bở, nào hẹ, nào hành, nào tỏi.ἐμνήσθημεν τοὺς ἰχθύας οὓς ἠσθίομεν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ δωρεάν, καὶ τοὺς σικύας καὶ τοὺς πέπονας καὶ τὰ πράσα καὶ τὰ κρόμμυα καὶ τὰ σκόρδα·זָכַ֨רְנוּ֙ אֶת הַדָּגָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר נֹאכַ֥ל בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם חִנָּ֑ם אֵ֣ת הַקִּשֻּׁאִ֗ים וְאֵת֙ הָֽאֲבַטִּחִ֔ים וְאֶת הֶחָצִ֥יר וְאֶת הַבְּצָלִ֖ים וְאֶת הַשּׁוּמִֽיםrecordamur piscium quos comedebamus in Ægypto gratis: in mentem nobis veniunt cucumeres, et pepones, porrique, et cæpe, et allia.We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
Our soul is dry, our eyes behold nothing else but manna.Còn bây giờ đời ta tàn rồi; mọi thứ đó hết sạch, chỉ còn thấy man-na thôi.”νυνὶ δὲ ἡ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν κατάξηρος, οὐδὲν πλὴν εἰς τὸ μάννα οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμῶν. Anima nostra arida est: nihil aliud respiciunt oculi nostri nisi man.but now we have lost our appetite. 7A Now the manna was like coriander seed, of the colour of bdellium. Erat autem man quasi semen coriandri, coloris bdellii. The manna was like coriander seed, and it looked like bdellium.
And the people went about, and gathering it, ground it in a mill, or beat it in a mortar, and boiled it in a pot, and made cakes thereof of the taste of bread tempered with oil.Dân cứ việc chia nhau đi lượm, cho vào cối xay hoặc cối giã mà nghiền tán ra, rồi bỏ vào nồi nấu bánh, và mùi vị của nó như mùi vị bánh chiên dầu.καὶ διεπορεύετο ὁ λαὸς καὶ συνέλεγον, καὶ ἤληθον αὐτὸ ἐν τῷ μύλῳ καὶ ἔτριβον ἐν τῇ θυίᾳ, καὶ ἥψουν αὐτὸ ἐν τῇ χύτρᾳ καὶ ἐποίουν αὐτὸ ἐνκρυφίας· καὶ ἦν ἡ ἡδονὴ αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ γεῦμα ἐνκρὶς ἐξ ἐλαίου.שָׁטוּ֩ הָעָ֨ם וְלָֽקְט֜וּ וְטָחֲנ֣וּ בָרֵחַ֗יִם א֤וֹ דָכוּ֙ בַּמְּדֹכָ֔ה וּבִשְּׁלוּ֙ בַּפָּר֔וּר וְעָשׂ֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ עֻג֑וֹת וְהָיָ֣ה טַעְמ֔וֹ כְּטַ֖עַם לְשַׁ֥ד הַשָּֽׁמֶןCircuibatque populus, et colligens illud, frangebat mola, sive terebat in mortario, coquens in olla, et faciens ex eo tortulas saporis quasi panis oleati. The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.
And when the dew fell in the night upon the camp, the manna also fell with it.Đêm về sương rơi trên doanh trại, thì man-na cũng rơi xuống.καὶ ὅταν κατέβη ἡ δρόσος ἐπὶ τὴν παρεμβολὴν νυκτός, κατέβαινεν τὸ μάννα ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς. Cumque descenderet nocte super castra ros, descendebat pariter et man. When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.
Now Moses heard the people weeping by their families, every one at the door of his tent. And the wrath of the Lord was exceedingly enkindled: to Moses also the thing seemed insupportable.Ông Mô-sê nghe thấy dân tụm năm tụm bảy theo thị tộc mà kêu khóc tại cửa lều của mình. Còn ĐỨC CHÚA thì bừng bừng nổi giận. Iratusque est furor Domini valde: sed et Moysi intoleranda res visa est,Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the LORD’s anger burned greatly; and Moses was displeased.
And he said to the Lord: Why hast thou afflicted thy servant? wherefore do I not find favour before thee? and why hast thou laid the weight of all this people upon me?và thưa với ĐỨC CHÚA: “Sao Ngài lại làm khổ tôi tớ Ngài? Tại sao con lại không đẹp lòng Ngài, khiến Ngài đặt gánh nặng tất cả dân này lên con?καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς Κύριον Ἵνα τί ἐκάκωσας τὸν θεράποντά σου; καὶ διὰ τί οὐχ εὕρηκα χάριν ἐναντίον σου, ἐπιθεῖναι τὴν ὁρμὴν τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ;וַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶל יְהוָ֗ה לָמָ֤ה הֲרֵעֹ֨תָ֙ לְעַבְדֶּ֔ךָ וְלָ֛מָּה לֹא מָצָ֥תִי חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ לָשׂ֗וּם אֶת מַשָּׂ֛א כָּל הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה עָלָֽיet ait ad Dominum: Cur afflixisti servum tuum? quare non invenio gratiam coram te? et cur imposuisti pondus universi populi hujus super me?Moses said to the LORD, “Why have you treated your servant so badly? Cumque requievisset in eis spiritus, prophetaverunt, nec ultra cessaverunt. The LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
Now there remained in the camp two of the men, of whom one was called Eldad, and the other Medad, upon whom the spirit rested; for they also had been enrolled, but were not gone forth to the tabernacle.Bấy giờ có hai người ở lại trong trại, một người tên là En-đát, một người tên là Mê-đát. But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the Spirit rested on them. They were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
And when they prophesied in the camp, there ran a young man, and told Moses, saying: Eldad and Medad prophesy in the camp.Một người thanh niên chạy đi báo tin cho ông Mô-sê rằng: “Ông En-đát và ông Mê-đát đang phát ngôn trong trại!”καὶ προσδραμὼν ὁ νεανίσκος ἀπήγγειλεν Μωυσῇ καὶ εἶπεν λέγων Ἐλδὰδ καὶ Μωδὰδ προφητεύουσιν ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ.וַיָּ֣רָץ הַנַּ֔עַר וַיַּגֵּ֥ד לְמֹשֶׁ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֶלְדָּ֣ד וּמֵידָ֔ד מִֽתְנַבְּאִ֖ים בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽהCumque prophetarent in castris, cucurrit puer, et nuntiavit Moysi, dicens: Eldad et Medad prophetant in castris.A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”
Forthwith Josue the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, and chosen out of many, said: My lord Moses forbid them.Ông Giô-suê con ông Nun, từng theo hầu ông Mô-sê từ hồi còn nhỏ, lên tiếng nói với ông Mô-sê: “Thưa thầy, xin thầy ngăn cản họ!”καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Ἰησοῦς ὁ τοῦ Ναυὴ ὁ παρεστηκὼς Μωυσῇ ὁ ἐκλεκτὸς εἶπεν Κύριε Μωυσῆ, κώλυσον αὐτούς. Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”
But he said: Why hast thou emulation for me? O that all the people might prophesy, and that the Lord would give them his spirit! At ille: Quid, inquit æmularis pro me? quis tribuat ut omnis populus prophetet, et det eis Dominus spiritum suum?Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”
And Moses returned, with the ancients of Israel, into the camp.Ông Mô-sê đã vào trại cùng với các kỳ mục Ít-ra-en.καὶ ἀπῆλθεν Μωυσῆς εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν, αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι Ἰσραήλ. Reversusque est Moyses, et majores natu Israël in castra.Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
And a wind going out from the Lord, taking quails up beyond the sea brought them, and cast them into the camp for the space of one day’s journey, on every side of the camp round about, and they flew in the air two cubits high above the ground.Một luồng gió do ĐỨC CHÚA khơi dậy đã lùa chim cút từ phía biển tới, và thổi chúng dạt xuống trại thành một đường dài đi một ngày mới hết, ở bốn phía chung quanh trại, dày tới một thước trên mặt đất.Καὶ πνεῦμα ἐξῆλθεν παρὰ Κυρίου καὶ ἐξεπέρασεν ὀρτυγομήτραν ἀπὸ τῆς θαλάσσης, καὶ ἐπέβαλεν ἐπὶ τὴν παρεμβολὴν ὁδὸν ἡμέρας ἐντεῦθεν καὶ ὁδὸν ἡμέρας ἐντεῦθεν κύκλῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς, ὡσεὶ δίπηχυ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς.וְר֜וּחַ נָסַ֣ע מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה וַיָּ֣גָז שַׂלְוִים֮ מִן הַיָּם֒ וַיִּטֹּ֨שׁ עַל הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֜ה כְּדֶ֧רֶךְ י֣וֹם כֹּ֗ה וּכְדֶ֤רֶךְ יוֹם֙ כֹּ֔ה סְבִיב֖וֹת הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וּכְאַמָּתַ֖יִם עַל פְּנֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץVentus autem egrediens a Domino, arreptans trans mare coturnices detulit, et demisit in castra itinere quantum uno die confici potest, ex omni parte castrorum per circuitum, volabantque in aëre duobus cubitis altitudine super terram.A wind from the LORD went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.
The people therefore rising up all that day, and night, and the next day, gathered together of quails, he that did least, ten cores: and they dried them round about the camp.Dân bận rộn lượm chim cút suốt ngày suốt đêm ấy và cả ngày hôm sau; người lượm ít nhất cũng được hai trăm thùng, và họ đem phơi chung quanh trại.καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ λαὸς ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν καὶ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα καὶ ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν τὴν ἐπαύριον, καὶ συνήγαγον τὴν ὀρτυγομήτραν· ὁ τὸ ὀλίγον συνήγαγεν δέκα κόρους· καὶ ἔσφαξαν ἑαυτοῖς ψυγμοὺς κύκλῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς. The people rose up all that day, and all of that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; and they spread them all out for themselves around the camp.
As yet the flesh was between their teeth, neither had that kind of meat failed: when behold the wrath of the Lord being provoked against the people, struck them with an exceeding great plague. הַבָּשָׂ֗ר עוֹדֶ֨נּוּ֙ בֵּ֣ין שִׁנֵּיהֶ֔ם טֶ֖רֶם יִכָּרֵ֑ת וְאַ֤ף יְהוָה֙ חָרָ֣ה בָעָ֔ם וַיַּ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ בָּעָ֔ם מַכָּ֖ה רַבָּ֥ה מְאֹֽדAdhuc carnes erant in dentibus eorum, nec defecerat hujuscemodi cibus: et ecce furor Domini concitatus in populum, percussit eum plaga magna nimis. While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the LORD’s anger burned against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.
And that place was called, The graves of lust: for there they buried the people that had lusted. And departing from the graves of lust, they came unto Haseroth, and abode there.Và người ta đã đặt tên cho nơi đó là Kíp-rốt Ha Ta-a-va, vì ở đó họ đã chôn đám dân thèm ăn.καὶ ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Μνήματα τῆς ἐπιθυμίας· ἐκεῖ ἔθαψαν τὸν λαὸν τὸν ἐπιθυμητήν. The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.
מִקִּבְר֧וֹת הַֽתַּאֲוָ֛ה נָסְע֥וּ הָעָ֖ם חֲצֵר֑וֹת וַיִּהְי֖וּ בַּחֲצֵרֽוֹת—From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.
