And after these things the Lord appointed also other seventy-two: and he sent them two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself was to come. | Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he was about to come.
And he said to them: The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send labourers into his harvest. | Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.
Go: Behold I send you as lambs among wolves. | Ite: ecce ego mitto vos sicut agnos inter lupos. | Go your ways. Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.
Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes; and salute no man by the way. | Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way.
Into whatsoever house you enter, first say: Peace be to this house. | In quamcumque domum intraveritis, primum dicite: Pax huic domui: | Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’
And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. | Nếu ở đó, có ai đáng hưởng bình an, thì bình an của anh em sẽ ở lại với người ấy; bằng không thì bình an đó sẽ trở lại với anh em. | If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
And in the same house, remain, eating and drinking such things as they have: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house. | Hãy ở lại nhà ấy, và người ta cho ăn uống thức gì, thì anh em dùng thức đó, vì làm thợ thì đáng được trả công. Đừng đi hết nhà nọ đến nhà kia. | Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house.
And into what city soever you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. | καὶ εἰς ἣν ἂν πόλιν εἰσέρχησθε καὶ δέχωνται ὑμᾶς, ἐσθίετε τὰ παρατιθέμενα ὑμῖν, | Et in quamcumque civitatem intraveritis, et susceperint vos, manducate quæ apponuntur vobis: | Into whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you.
And heal the sick that are therein, and say to them: The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. | Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’
But into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say: | Nhưng vào bất cứ thành nào mà người ta không tiếp đón, thì anh em ra các quảng trường mà nói: | εἰς ἣν δ’ ἂν πόλιν ⸀εἰσέλθητε καὶ μὴ δέχωνται ὑμᾶς, ἐξελθόντες εἰς τὰς πλατείας αὐτῆς εἴπατε· | In quamcumque autem civitatem intraveritis, et non susceperint vos, exeuntes in plateas ejus, dicite: | But into whatever city you enter and they don’t receive you, go out into its streets and say,
Even the very dust of your city that cleaveth to us, we wipe off against you. Yet know this, that the kingdom of God is at hand. | ‘Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’
I say to you, it shall be more tolerable at that day for Sodom, than for that city. | Dico vobis, quia Sodomis in die illa remissius erit, quam illi civitati. | I tell you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.
Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida. For if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the mighty works that have been wrought in you, they would have done penance long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. | “Khốn cho ngươi, hỡi Kho-ra-din! Khốn cho ngươi, hỡi Bết-xai-đa! Vì nếu các phép lạ đã làm nơi các ngươi mà được làm tại Tia và Xi-đôn, thì từ lâu họ đã mặc áo vải thô, ngồi trên tro tỏ lòng sám hối rồi. | Væ tibi Corozain! væ tibi Bethsaida! quia si in Tyro et Sidone factæ fuissent virtutes quæ factæ sunt in vobis, olim in cilicio et cinere sedentes pœniterent. | “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement, than for you. | But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.
And thou, Capharnaum, which art exalted unto heaven, thou shalt be thrust down to hell. | You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.
He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me. | Qui vos audit, me audit: et qui vos spernit, me spernit. Qui autem me spernit, spernit eum qui misit me. | Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying: Lord, the devils also are subject to us in thy name. | Nhóm Bảy Mươi Hai trở về, hớn hở nói: “Thưa Thầy, nghe đến danh Thầy, cả ma quỷ cũng phải khuất phục chúng con.” | The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”
And he said to them: I saw Satan like lightening falling from heaven. | He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven.
Behold, I have given you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall hurt you. | Đây, Thầy đã ban cho anh em quyền năng để đạp lên rắn rết, bọ cạp và mọi thế lực Kẻ Thù, mà chẳng có gì làm hại được anh em. | Ecce dedi vobis potestatem calcandi supra serpentes, et scorpiones, et super omnem virtutem inimici: et nihil vobis nocebit. | Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.
But yet rejoice not in this, that spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice in this, that your names are written in heaven. | Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
In that same hour, he rejoiced in the Holy Ghost, and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to little ones. Yea, Father, for so it hath seemed good in thy sight. | In that same hour, Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”
All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and to whom the Son will reveal him. | “Cha tôi đã giao phó mọi sự cho tôi. | Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.”
And turning to his disciples, he said: Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see. | Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see,
For I say to you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them; and to hear the things that you hear, and have not heard them. | for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.”
And behold a certain lawyer stood up, tempting him, and saying, Master, what must I do to possess eternal life? | Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
But he said to him: What is written in the law? how readest thou? | Người đáp: “Trong Luật đã viết gì? Ông đọc thế nào?” | ὁ δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἐν τῷ νόμῳ τί γέγραπται; πῶς ἀναγινώσκεις; | At ille dixit ad eum: In lege quid scriptum est? quomodo legis? | He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?”
He answering, said: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbour as thyself. | Ông ấy thưa: “Ngươi phải yêu mến Đức Chúa, Thiên Chúa của ngươi, hết lòng, hết linh hồn, hết sức lực, và hết trí khôn ngươi, và yêu mến người thân cận như chính mình.” | He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
And he said to him: Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. | Đức Giê-su bảo ông ta: “Ông trả lời đúng lắm. Cứ làm như vậy là sẽ được sống.” | He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.”
But he willing to justify himself, said to Jesus: And who is my neighbour? | But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”
And Jesus answering, said: A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who also stripped him, and having wounded him went away, leaving him half dead. | Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
And it chanced, that a certain priest went down the same way: and seeing him, passed by. | By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
In like manner also a Levite, when he was near the place and saw him, passed by. | In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan being on his journey, came near him; and seeing him, was moved with compassion. | But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,
And going up to him, bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine: and setting him upon his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. | Et appropians alligavit vulnera ejus, infundens oleum et vinum: et imponens illum in jumentum suum, duxit in stabulum, et curam ejus egit. | came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
And the next day he took out two pence, and gave to the host, and said: Take care of him; and whatsoever thou shalt spend over and above, I, at my return, will repay thee. | On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’
Which of these three, in thy opinion, was neighbour to him that fell among the robbers? | ⸀τίς τούτων τῶν τριῶν πλησίον δοκεῖ σοι γεγονέναι τοῦ ἐμπεσόντος εἰς τοὺς λῃστάς; | Quis horum trium videtur tibi proximus fuisse illi, qui incidit in latrones? | Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”
But he said: He that shewed mercy to him. And Jesus said to him: Go, and do thou in like manner. | At ille dixit: Qui fecit misericordiam in illum. Et ait illi Jesus: Vade, et tu fac similiter. | He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Now it came to pass as they went, that he entered into a certain town: and a certain woman named Martha, received him into her house. | Factum est autem, dum irent, et ipse intravit in quoddam castellum: et mulier quædam, Martha nomine, excepit illum in domum suam, | As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, who sitting also at the Lord’s feet, heard his word. | Cô có người em gái tên là Ma-ri-a. Cô này cứ ngồi bên chân Chúa mà nghe lời Người dạy. | et huic erat soror nomine Maria, quæ etiam sedens secus pedes Domini, audiebat verbum illius. | She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word.
| 40 | But Martha was busy about much serving. Who stood and said: Lord, hast thou no care that my sister hath left me alone to serve? speak to her therefore, that she help me. | Còn cô Mác-ta thì tất bật lo việc phục vụ. Cô tiến lại mà nói: “Thưa Thầy, em con để mình con phục vụ, mà Thầy không để ý tới sao?
