My soul is weary of my life, I will let go my speech against myself, I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.Hồn tôi chẳng còn ham sống,tôi muốn để mặc cho tiếng thở than tuôn trào,và muốn thốt ra lời khi tâm hồn cay đắng.κάμνων τῇ ψυχῇ μου. [Tædet animam meam vitæ meæ; dimittam adversum me eloquium meum: loquar in amaritudine animæ meæ.“My soul is weary of my life. I will give free course to my complaint. I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
I will say to God: Do not condemn me: tell me why thou judgest me so.Tôi sẽ thưa với Thiên Chúa: Xin đừng kết án con,xin cho con biết tại sao Ngài tố cáo con.καὶ ἐρῶ πρὸς Κύριον Μή με ἀσεβεῖν δίδασκε· καὶ διὰ τί με οὕτως ἔκρινας;אֹמַ֣ר אֶל אֱ֭לוֹהַּ אַל תַּרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי הֽ֝וֹדִיעֵ֗נִי עַ֣ל מַה תְּרִיבֵֽנִיDicam Deo: Noli me condemnare; indica mihi cur me ita judices.I will tell God, ‘Do not condemn me. Show me why you contend with me.
Doth it seem good to thee that thou shouldst calumniate me, and oppress me, the work of thy own hands, and help the counsel of the wicked? Numquid bonum tibi videtur, si calumnieris me, et opprimas me opus manuum tuarum, et consilium impiorum adjuves? Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?
Hast thou eyes of flesh: or, shalt thou see as man seeth? Do you have eyes of flesh? Or do you see as man sees?
Are thy days as the days of man, and are thy years as the times of men:Phải chăng cuộc đời của Ngàicũng ngắn ngủi như đời người phải chết,và năm tháng của Ngài cũng chóng qua như cuộc nhân sinh?ἢ ὁ βίος σου ἀνθρώπινός ἐστιν, ἢ τὰ ἔτη σου ἀνδρός;הֲכִימֵ֣י אֱנ֣וֹשׁ יָמֶ֑יךָ אִם שְׁ֝נוֹתֶ֗יךָ כִּ֣ימֵי גָֽבֶרNumquid sicut dies hominis dies tui, et anni tui sicut humana sunt tempora,Are your days as the days of mortals, or your years as man’s years,
That thou shouldst inquire after my iniquity, and search after my sin?Nhưng chính Ngài tìm bắt lỗi con,và điều tra tội con đã phạm,ὅτι ἀνεζήτησας τὴν ἀνομίαν μου, καὶ τὰς ἁμαρτίας μου ἐξιχνίασας;כִּֽי תְבַקֵּ֥שׁ לַעֲוֺנִ֑י וּ֭לְחַטָּאתִ֥י תִדְרֽוֹשׁut quæras iniquitatem meam, et peccatum meum scruteris, that you inquire after my iniquity, and search after my sin?
And shouldst know that I have done no wicked thing, whereas there is no man that can deliver out of thy hand.mặc dầu Ngài biết: con không tội lỗi gì,và không ai thoát khỏi tay Ngài được.οἶδας γὰρ ὅτι οὐκ ἠσέβησα· ἀλλὰ τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν σου ἐξαιρούμενος;עַֽל דַּ֭עְתְּךָ כִּי לֹ֣א אֶרְשָׁ֑ע וְאֵ֖ין מִיָּדְךָ֣ מַצִּֽילet scias quia nihil impium fecerim, cum sit nemo qui de manu tua possit eruere?Although you know that I am not wicked, there is no one who can deliver out of your hand.
Thy hands have made me, and fashioned me wholly round about, and dost thou thus cast me down headlong on a sudden? Manus tuæ fecerunt me, et plasmaverunt me totum in circuitu: et sic repente præcipitas me?“‘Your hands have framed me and fashioned me altogether, yet you destroy me.
Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay, and thou wilt bring me into dust again. Memento, quæso, quod sicut lutum feceris me, et in pulverem reduces me.Remember, I beg you, that you have fashioned me as clay. Will you bring me into dust again?
Hast thou not milked me as milk, and curdled me like cheese?Há chẳng phải Ngài đã tạo nên con như sữa lỏng,rồi làm con đặc lại như bơ?ἢ οὐχ ὥσπερ γάλα με ἤμελξας, ἐτύρωσας δέ με ἴσα τυρῷ;הֲלֹ֣א כֶ֭חָלָב תַּתִּיכֵ֑נִי וְ֝כַגְּבִנָּ֗ה תַּקְפִּיאֵֽנִיNonne sicut lac mulsisti me, et sicut caseum me coagulasti?Haven’t you poured me out like milk, and curdled me like cheese?
Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh: thou hast put me together with bones and sinews:Ngài đắp lên con bằng da bằng thịt,rồi lấy gân lấy cốt mà dệt mà thêu.δέρμα δὲ καὶ κρέα με ἐνέδυσας, ὀστέοις δὲ καὶ νεύροις με ἔνειρας·ע֣וֹר וּ֭בָשָׂר תַּלְבִּישֵׁ֑נִי וּֽבַעֲצָמ֥וֹת וְ֝גִידִ֗ים תְּסֹכְכֵֽנִיPelle et carnibus vestisti me; ossibus et nervis compegisti me.You have clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.
Thou hast granted me life and mercy, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. You have granted me life and loving kindness. Your visitation has preserved my spirit.
Although thou conceal these things in thy heart, yet I know that thou rememberest all things. Licet hæc celes in corde tuo, tamen scio quia universorum memineris.Yet you hid these things in your heart. I know that this is with you:
If I have sinned and thou hast spared me for an hour: why dost thou not suffer me to be clean from my iniquity?Nếu con phạm tội, Ngài để ý lưu tâm,chẳng bỏ qua lỗi lầm con phạm.ἐάν τε γὰρ ἁμάρτω, φυλάσσεις με, ἀπὸ δὲ ἀνομίας οὐκ ἀθῷόν με πεποίηκας. Si peccavi, et ad horam pepercisti mihi, cur ab iniquitate mea mundum me esse non pateris?if I sin, then you mark me. You will not acquit me from my iniquity.
And if I be wicked, woe unto me: and if just, I shall not lift up my head, being filled with affliction and misery.Nếu con có tội, thì khốn cho con!Mà nếu có công chính, con cũng chẳng dám ngẩng đầu:Tủi hổ đầy tràn, lỗi lầm chồng chất.ἐάν τε γὰρ ἀσεβήσω, οἴμοι· ἐὰν δὲ ὦ δίκαιος, οὐ δύναμαι ἀνακύψαι, πλήρης γὰρ ἀτιμίας εἰμί. If I am wicked, woe to me. If I am righteous, I still will not lift up my head, being filled with disgrace, and conscious of my affliction.
And for pride thou wilt take me as a lioness, and returning thou tormentest me wonderfully.Nếu con ngẩng đầu, thì khác nào sư tử,Ngài liền săn đuổi con, Ngài hạ nhục con để bày tỏ uy quyền.ἀγρεύομαι γὰρ ὥσπερ λέων εἰς σφαγήν· πάλιν γὰρ μεταβαλὼν δεινῶς με ὀλέκεις,וְ֭יִגְאֶה כַּשַּׁ֣חַל תְּצוּדֵ֑נִי וְ֝תָשֹׁ֗ב תִּתְפַּלָּא בִֽיEt propter superbiam quasi leænam capies me, reversusque mirabiliter me crucias. If my head is held high, you hunt me like a lion. Again you show yourself powerful to me.
Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and multipliest thy wrath upon me, and pains war against me.Nhằm cáo tội con, Ngài đưa hết lý này đến lý khác;nhằm chống lại con, Ngài không ngớt khơi dậy cơn phẫn nộ;nhằm bao vây con, Ngài đưa thêm nhiều đoàn quân mới.ἐπανακαινίζων ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ τὴν ἔτασίν μου· ὀργῇ δὲ μεγάλῃ μοι ἐχρήσω, ἐπήγαγες δὲ ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ πειρατήρια. Instauras testes tuos contra me, et multiplicas iram tuam adversum me, et pœnæ militant in me.You renew your witnesses against me, and increase your indignation on me. Changes and warfare are with me.
Why didst thou bring me forth out of the womb: O that I had been consumed that eye might not see me!Vậy thì tại sao Ngài lại kéo con ra khỏi lòng mẹ?Phải chi lúc đó con tắt thở cho rồi,chẳng còn ai nhìn thấy con nữa!ἵνα τί οὖν ἐκ κοιλίας με ἐξήγαγες, καὶ οὐκ ἀπέθανον, ὀφθαλμὸς δέ με οὐκ εἶδεν,וְלָ֣מָּה מֵ֭רֶחֶם הֹצֵאתָ֑נִי אֶ֝גְוַ֗ע וְעַ֣יִן לֹא תִרְאֵֽנִיQuare de vulva eduxisti me? qui utinam consumptus essem, ne oculus me videret.“‘Why, then, have you brought me out of the womb? I wish I had given up the spirit, and no eye had seen me.
I should have been as if I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave. Fuissem quasi non essem, de utero translatus ad tumulum.I should have been as though I had not been. I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
Shall not the fewness of my days be ended shortly? suffer me, therefore, that I may lament my sorrow a little:Ngày đời con, nào có được bao nhiêu!Xin Ngài nương tay, để con được đôi phần thanh thoả,ἢ οὐκ ὀλίγος ἐστὶν ὁ βίος τοῦ χρόνου μου; ἔασόν με ἀναπαύσασθαι μικρὸνהֲלֹא מְעַ֣ט יָמַ֣י יחדל וַחֲדָ֑ל ישית וְשִׁ֥ית מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי וְאַבְלִ֥יגָה מְּעָֽטNumquid non paucitas dierum meorum finietur brevi? dimitte ergo me, ut plangam paululum dolorem meum,Aren’t my days few? Stop! Leave me alone, that I may find a little comfort,
Before I go, and return no more, to a land that is dark and covered with the mist of death:trước khi con ra đi, không hẹn ngày trở lại,đi về nơi tăm tối, dưới bóng tử thần,πρὸ τοῦ με πορευθῆναι ὅθεν οὐκ ἀναστρέψω, εἰς γῆν σκοτινὴν καὶ γνοφεράν, εἰς γῆν σκότους αἰωνίου, οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν φέγγος οὐδὲ ὁρᾷν ζωὴν βροτῶν.בְּטֶ֣רֶם אֵ֭לֵךְ וְלֹ֣א אָשׁ֑וּב אֶל אֶ֖רֶץ חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְצַלְמָֽוֶתantequam vadam, et non revertar, ad terram tenebrosam, et opertam mortis caligine:before I go where I will not return from, to the land of darkness and of the shadow of death;
