She said to them: Go ye home to your mothers: the Lord deal mercifully with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me.Bà Na-o-mi nói với hai con dâu: “Thôi, mỗi người chúng con hãy trở về nhà mẹ mình. Do not so, my daughters, I beseech you: for I am grieved the more for your distress, and the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.thì chẳng lẽ chúng con cứ đợi mãi cho đến khi chúng lớn lên? 14And they lifted up their voice, and began to weep again: Orpha kissed her mother in law and returned: Ruth stuck close to her mother in law.Hai người con dâu lại oà lên khóc. וַתִּשֶּׂ֣נָה קוֹלָ֔ן וַתִּבְכֶּ֖ינָה ע֑וֹד וַתִּשַּׁ֤ק עָרְפָּה֙ לַחֲמוֹתָ֔הּ וְר֖וּת דָּ֥בְקָה בָּֽהּElevata igitur voce, rursum flere cœperunt: Orpha osculata est socrum, ac reversa est; Ruth adhæsit socrui suæ:They lifted up their voices and wept again; then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth stayed with her.
And Noemi said to her: Behold thy kinswoman is returned to her people, and to her gods, go thou with her.Bà Na-o-mi nói: “Kìa chị dâu con trở về với dân tộc của nó và các thần của nó. 16She answered: Be not against me, to desire that I should leave thee and depart: for whithersoever thou shalt go, I will go: and where thou shalt dwell, I also will dwell. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.Rút đáp: “Xin mẹ đừng ép con bỏ mẹ mà trở về, không theo mẹ nữa, vìmẹ đi đâu, con đi đó,mẹ ở đâu, con ở đó,dân của mẹ là dân của con,Thiên Chúa của mẹ là Thiên Chúa của con.εἶπεν δὲ Ῥούθ Μὴ ἀπαντήσαι ἐμοὶ τοῦ καταλιπεῖν σε ἢ ἀποστρέψαι ὄπισθέν σου, ὅτι σὺ ὅπου ἐὰν πορευθῇς πορεύσομαι, καὶ οὗ ἐὰν αὐλισθῇς αὐλισθήσομαι· ὁ λαός σου λαός μου, καὶ ὁ θεός σου θεός μου·וַתֹּ֤אמֶר רוּת֙ אַל תִּפְגְּעִי בִ֔י לְעָזְבֵ֖ךְ לָשׁ֣וּב מֵאַחֲרָ֑יִךְ כִּ֠י אֶל אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֵּלְכִ֜י אֵלֵ֗ךְ וּבַאֲשֶׁ֤ר תָּלִ֨ינִי֙ אָלִ֔ין עַמֵּ֣ךְ עַמִּ֔י וֵאלֹהַ֖יִךְ אֱלֹהָֽיQuæ respondit: Ne adverseris mihi ut relinquam te et abeam: quocumque enim perrexeris, pergam, et ubi morata fueris, et ego pariter morabor. May the LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.”
Then Noemi, seeing that Ruth was steadfastly determined to go with her, would not be against it, nor persuade her any more to return to her friends:Thấy Rút cứ một mực đi với mình, bà Na-o-mi không còn nói gì về chuyện đó nữa.ἰδοῦσα δὲ Νωεμεὶν ὅτι κραταιοῦται αὐτὴ τοῦ πορεύεσθαι μετ᾽ αὐτῆς, ἐκόπασεν τοῦ λαλῆσαι πρὸς αὐτὴν ἔτι.וַתֵּ֕רֶא כִּֽי מִתְאַמֶּ֥צֶת הִ֖יא לָלֶ֣כֶת אִתָּ֑הּ וַתֶּחְדַּ֖ל לְדַבֵּ֥ר אֵלֶֽיהָVidens ergo Noëmi quod obstinato animo Ruth decrevisset secum pergere, adversari noluit, nec ad suos ultra reditum persuadere:When Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
So they went together and came to Bethlehem. And when they were come into the city, the report was quickly spread among all: and the women said: This is that Noemi.Hai mẹ con cùng đi cho đến khi tới Bê-lem. Họ tới Bê-lem, làm cả thành xôn xao. When they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was excited about them, and they asked, “Is this Naomi?”
But she said to them: Call me not Noemi, (that is, beautiful,) but call me Mara, (that is, bitter,) for the Almighty hath quite filled me with bitterness.Bà nói: “Đừng gọi tôi là Na-o-mi nữa, hãy gọi tôi là Ma-ra, vì Đấng Toàn Năng đã bắt tôi phải chịu quá nhiều cay đắng.καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτάς Μὴ δὴ καλεῖτέ με Νωεμείν, καλέσατέ με Πικράν, ὅτι ἐπικράνθη ἐν ἐμοὶ ὁ ἱκανὸς σφόδρα.וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ן אַל תִּקְרֶ֥אנָה לִ֖י נָעֳמִ֑י קְרֶ֤אןָ לִי֙ מָרָ֔א כִּי הֵמַ֥ר שַׁדַּ֛י לִ֖י מְאֹֽדQuibus ait: Ne vocetis me Noëmi (id est, pulchram), sed vocate me Mara (id est, amaram), quia amaritudine valde replevit me Omnipotens. She said to them, “Don’t call me Naomi. 21I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me back empty. Why then do you call me Noemi, whom the Lord hath humbled and the Almighty hath afflicted?Tôi ra đi, của cải dư đầy, ĐỨC CHÚA đem tôi về hai bàn tay trắng! 22So Noemi came with Ruth the Moabitess her daughter in law, from the land of her sojournment: and returned into Bethlehem, in the beginning of the barley harvest.Thế là từ cánh đồng Mô-áp, bà Na-o-mi trở về cùng với con dâu người Mô-áp là Rút.
