| 1 | There was a man of Ramathaimsophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elcana, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliu, the son of Thohu, the son of Suph, an Ephraimite: | Có một người quê thành Ra-ma-tha-gim Xô-phim, thuộc miền núi Ép-ra-im, tên là En-ca-na, con ông Giơ-rô-kham; ông Giơ-rô-kham là con ông Ê-li-hu, ông Ê-li-hu là con ông Tô-khu, ông Tô-khu là con ông Xúp, người Ép-ra-tha. | ἌΝΘΡΩΠΟΣ ἦν ἐξ Ἁρμαθάιμ Σειφὰ ἐξ ὄρους Ἐφράιμ, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἐλκανά, υἱὸς Ἰερεμεὴλ υἱοῦ Ἠλείου υἱοῦ Θόκε ἐν Νασεὶβ Ἐφράιμ. | וַיְהִי֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶחָ֜ד מִן הָרָמָתַ֛יִם צוֹפִ֖ים מֵהַ֣ר אֶפְרָ֑יִם וּשְׁמ֡וֹ אֶ֠לְקָנָה בֶּן יְרֹחָ֧ם בֶּן אֱלִיה֛וּא בֶּן תֹּ֥חוּ בֶן צ֖וּף אֶפְרָתִֽי | Fuit vir unus de Ramathaimsophim, de monte Ephraim, et nomen ejus Elcana, filius Jeroham, filii Eliu, filii Thohu, filii Suph, Ephrathæus: | Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. |
| 2 | And he had two wives, the name of one was Anna, and the name of the other Phenenna. Phenenna had children: but Anna had no children. | Người ấy có hai vợ, một bà tên là An-na, một bà tên là Pơ-nin-na. Fueruntque Phenennæ filii: Annæ autem non erant liberi. | He had two wives. The name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. |
| 3 | And this man went up out of his city upon the appointed days, to adore and to offer sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Silo. And the two sons of Heli, Ophni and Phinees, were there priests of the Lord. | Hằng năm, người ấy từ thành mình lên thờ lạy và dâng hy lễ cho ĐỨC CHÚA các đạo binh tại Si-lô. Ở đó có hai con trai ông Ê-li là Khóp-ni và Pin-khát làm tư tế của ĐỨC CHÚA. | καὶ ἀνέβαινεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ἡμερῶν εἰς ἡμέρας ἐκ πόλεως αὐτοῦ ἐξ Ἁρμαθάιμ προσκυνεῖν καὶ θύειν τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ σαβαὼθ εἰς Σηλώ· καὶ ἐκεῖ Ἠλεὶ καὶ οἱ δύο υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ Ὁφνεὶ καὶ Φεινεὲς ἱερεῖς τοῦ κυρίου. | וְעָלָה֩ הָאִ֨ישׁ הַה֤וּא מֵֽעִירוֹ֙ מִיָּמִ֣ים יָמִ֔ימָה לְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֧ת וְלִזְבֹּ֛חַ לַיהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת בְּשִׁלֹ֑ה וְשָׁ֞ם שְׁנֵ֣י בְנֵֽי עֵלִ֗י חָפְנִי֙ וּפִ֣נְחָ֔ס כֹּהֲנִ֖ים לַיהוָֽה | Et ascendebat vir ille de civitate sua statutis diebus, ut adoraret et sacrificaret Domino exercituum in Silo. Erant autem ibi duo filii Heli, Ophni et Phinees, sacerdotes Domini. | This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to the LORD of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to the LORD, were there. |
| 4 | Now the day came, and Elcana offered sacrifice, and gave to Phenenna his wife, and to all her sons and daughters, portions: | Đến ngày ông En-ca-na dâng hy lễ, ông thường chia các phần cho bà Pơ-nin-na, vợ ông, và cho các con trai con gái bà ấy. | Καὶ ἐγενήθη ἡμέρα καὶ ἔθυσεν Ἐλκανά, καὶ ἔδωκεν τῇ Φεννάνᾳ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῆς μερίδας· | וַיְהִ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם וַיִּזְבַּ֖ח אֶלְקָנָ֑ה וְנָתַ֞ן לִפְנִנָּ֣ה אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ וּֽלְכָל בָּנֶ֛יהָ וּבְנוֹתֶ֖יהָ מָנֽוֹת | Venit ergo dies, et immolavit Elcana, deditque Phenennæ uxori suæ, et cunctis filiis ejus et filiabus, partes: | When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters; |
| 5 | But to Anna he gave one portion with sorrow, because he loved Anna. Dominus autem concluserat vulvam ejus. | but he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved Hannah, but the LORD had shut up her womb. |
| 6 | Her rival also afflicted her, and troubled her exceedingly, insomuch that she upbraided her, that the Lord had shut up her womb: | Bà kia, đối thủ của bà, cứ chọc tức bà, để hạ nhục bà, vì ĐỨC CHÚA đã làm cho bà không sinh sản được. | ὅτι οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ Κύριος παιδίον, κατὰ τὴν θλίψιν αὐτῆς καὶ κατὰ τὴν ἀθυμίαν τῆς θλίψεως αὐτῆς· καὶ ἠθύμει διὰ τοῦτο, ὅτι συνέκλεισεν Κύριος τὰ περὶ τὴν μήτραν αὐτῆς, τοῦ μὴ δοῦναι αὐτῇ παιδίον. | וְכִֽעֲסַ֤תָּה צָֽרָתָהּ֙ גַּם כַּ֔עַס בַּעֲב֖וּר הַרְּעִמָ֑הּ כִּֽי סָגַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה בְּעַ֥ד רַחְמָֽהּ | Affligebat quoque eam æmula ejus, et vehementer angebat, in tantum ut exprobraret quod Dominus conclusisset vulvam ejus: | Her rival provoked her severely, to irritate her, because the LORD had shut up her womb. |
| 7 | And thus she did every year, when the time returned that they went up to the temple of the Lord: and thus she provoked her: but Anna wept, and did not eat. | Ông vẫn làm như thế năm này qua năm nọ, mỗi lần bà lên Nhà của ĐỨC CHÚA; còn bà kia cứ chọc tức bà như thế. Bà khóc và không chịu ăn. | οὕτως ἐποίει ἐνιαυτὸν κατ᾽ ἐνιαυτὸν ἐν τῷ ἀναβαίνειν αὐτὴν εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου, καὶ ἠθύμει καὶ ἔκλαιεν, καὶ οὐκ ἤσθιεν. | וְכֵ֨ן יַעֲשֶׂ֜ה שָׁנָ֣ה בְשָׁנָ֗ה מִדֵּ֤י עֲלֹתָהּ֙ בְּבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה כֵּ֖ן תַּכְעִסֶ֑נָּה וַתִּבְכֶּ֖ה וְלֹ֥א תֹאכַֽל | sicque faciebat per singulos annos: cum redeunte tempore ascenderent ad templum Domini, et sic provocabat eam: porro illa flebat, et non capiebat cibum. | So year by year, when she went up to the LORD’s house, her rival provoked her. Therefore she wept, and didn’t eat. |
| 8 | Then Elcana her husband said to her: Anna, why weepest thou? and why dost thou not eat? And why dost thou afflict thy heart? Am not I better to thee than ten children? | Ông En-ca-na, chồng bà, bảo bà: “An-na, sao em khóc? Sao em không chịu ăn? Sao lòng em rầu rĩ vậy? Đối với em, anh lại không hơn mười đứa con trai sao?” | καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Ἐλκανὰ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς Ἅννα· καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἰδοὺ ἐγώ, κύριε· καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Τί ἔστιν σοι ὅτι κλαίεις; καὶ ἵνα τί οὐκ ἐσθίεις; καὶ ἵνα τί τύπτει σε ἡ καρδία σου; οὐκ ἀγαθὸς ἐγώ σοι ὑπὲρ δέκα τέκνα; | וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לָ֜הּ אֶלְקָנָ֣ה אִישָׁ֗הּ חַנָּה֙ לָ֣מֶה תִבְכִּ֗י וְלָ֨מֶה֙ לֹ֣א תֹֽאכְלִ֔י וְלָ֖מֶה יֵרַ֣ע לְבָבֵ֑ךְ הֲל֤וֹא אָֽנֹכִי֙ ט֣וֹב לָ֔ךְ מֵעֲשָׂרָ֖ה בָּנִֽים | Dixit ergo ei Elcana vir suus: Anna, cur fles? et quare non comedis? et quam ob rem affligitur cor tuum? numquid non ego melior tibi sum, quam decem filii? | Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why don’t you eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?” |
| 9 | So Anna arose after she had eaten and drunk in Silo: And Heli the priest sitting upon a stool, before the door of the temple of the Lord: | Bà An-na đứng dậy sau khi họ đã ăn uống tại Si-lô. Tư tế Ê-li đang ngồi trên ghế ở cửa đền thờ ĐỨC CHÚA. | Καὶ ἀνέστη μετὰ τὸ φαγεῖν αὐτοὺς ἐν Σηλώ, καὶ κατέστη ἐνώπιον Κυρίου· καὶ Ἠλεὶ ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐπὶ τοῦ δίφρου ἐπὶ τῶν φλιῶν ναοῦ Κυρίου. | וַתָּ֣קָם חַנָּ֔ה אַחֲרֵ֛י אָכְלָ֥ה בְשִׁלֹ֖ה וְאַחֲרֵ֣י שָׁתֹ֑ה וְעֵלִ֣י הַכֹּהֵ֗ן יֹשֵׁב֙ עַל הַכִּסֵּ֔א עַל מְזוּזַ֖ת הֵיכַ֥ל יְהוָֽה | Surrexit autem Anna postquam comederat et biberat in Silo. Et Heli sacerdote sedente super sellam ante postes templi Domini, | So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of the LORD’s temple. |
| 10 | As Anna had her heart full of grief, she prayed to the Lord, shedding many tears, | Tâm hồn cay đắng, bà cầu nguyện với ĐỨC CHÚA và khóc nức nở. | καὶ αὐτὴ κατώδυνος ψυχῇ, καὶ προσηύξατο πρὸς Κύριον λέγουσα καὶ ἔκλαυσεν· | וְהִ֖יא מָ֣רַת נָ֑פֶשׁ וַתִּתְפַּלֵּ֥ל עַל יְהוָ֖ה וּבָכֹ֥ה תִבְכֶּֽה | cum esset Anna amaro animo, oravit ad Dominum, flens largiter, | She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. |
| 11 | And she made a vow, saying: O Lord, of hosts, if thou wilt look down on the affliction of thy servant, and wilt be mindful of me, and not forget thy handmaid, and wilt give to thy servant a man child: I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head. | Bà khấn hứa rằng: “Lạy ĐỨC CHÚA các đạo binh, nếu Ngài đoái nhìn đến nỗi khổ cực của nữ tỳ Ngài đây, nếu Ngài nhớ đến con và không quên nữ tỳ Ngài, nếu Ngài cho nữ tỳ Ngài một mụn con trai, thì con sẽ dâng nó cho ĐỨC CHÚA mọi ngày đời nó, và dao cạo sẽ không đụng tới đầu nó.” | καὶ ηὔξατο εὐχὴν Κυρίῳ λέγουσα Ἀδωναὶ Κύριε Ἐλωὲ σαβαώθ, ἐὰν ἐπιβλέπων ἐπιβλέψῃς τὴν ταπείνωσιν τῆς δούλης σου καὶ μνησθῇς μου καὶ δῷς τῇ δούλῃ σου σπέρμα ἀνδρῶν, καὶ δώσω αὐτὸν ἐνώπιόν σου δοτὸν ἕως ἡμέρας θανάτου αὐτοῦ· καὶ οἶνον καὶ μέθυσμα οὐ πίεται, καὶ σίδηρος οὐκ ἀναβήσεται ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ. | וַתִּדֹּ֨ר נֶ֜דֶר וַתֹּאמַ֗ר יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אִם רָאֹ֥ה תִרְאֶ֣ה בָּעֳנִ֣י אֲמָתֶ֗ךָ וּזְכַרְתַּ֨נִי֙ וְלֹֽא תִשְׁכַּ֣ח אֶת אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ וְנָתַתָּ֥ה לַאֲמָתְךָ֖ זֶ֣רַע אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וּנְתַתִּ֤יו לַֽיהוָה֙ כָּל יְמֵ֣י חַיָּ֔יו וּמוֹרָ֖ה לֹא יַעֲלֶ֥ה עַל רֹאשֽׁוֹ | et votum vovit, dicens: Domine exercituum, si respiciens videris afflictionem famulæ tuæ, et recordatus mei fueris, nec oblitus ancillæ tuæ, dederisque servæ tuæ sexum virilem: dabo eum Domino omnibus diebus vitæ ejus, et novacula non ascendet super caput ejus. | She vowed a vow, and said, “LORD of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.” |
| 12 | And it came to pass, as she multiplied prayers before the Lord, that Heli observed her mouth. | Vì bà cứ cầu nguyện lâu trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, nên ông Ê-li để ý đến miệng bà. | καὶ ἐγενήθη ὅτε ἐπλήθυνεν προσευχομένη ἐνώπιον Κυρίου, καὶ Ἠλεὶ ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐφύλαξεν τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς. | וְהָיָה֙ כִּ֣י הִרְבְּתָ֔ה לְהִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְעֵלִ֖י שֹׁמֵ֥ר אֶת פִּֽיהָ | Factum est autem, cum illa multiplicaret preces coram Domino, ut Heli observaret os ejus. | As she continued praying before the LORD, Eli saw her mouth. |
| 13 | Now Anna spoke in her heart, and only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard at all. Heli therefore thought her to be drunk, | Bà An-na thầm thĩ trong lòng: chỉ có môi bà mấp máy, không nghe thấy tiếng bà. Ông Ê-li nghĩ rằng bà say rượu. | καὶ αὐτὴ ἐλάλει ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς, καὶ τὰ χείλη αὐτῆς ἐκινεῖτο καὶ φωνὴ αὐτῆς οὐκ ἠκούετο· καὶ ἐλογίσατο αὐτὴν Ἠλεὶ εἰς μεθύουσαν· | וְחַנָּ֗ה הִ֚יא מְדַבֶּ֣רֶת עַל לִבָּ֔הּ רַ֚ק שְׂפָתֶ֣יהָ נָּע֔וֹת וְקוֹלָ֖הּ לֹ֣א יִשָּׁמֵ֑עַ וַיַּחְשְׁבֶ֥הָ עֵלִ֖י לְשִׁכֹּרָֽה | Porro Anna loquebatur in corde suo, tantumque labia illius movebantur, et vox penitus non audiebatur. Æstimavit ergo eam Heli temulentam, | Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. |
| 14 | And said to her: How long wilt thou, be drunk? digest a little the wine, of which thou hast taken too much. | Ông Ê-li bảo bà: “Bà còn say đến bao giờ? Hãy lo dã rượu đi!” | καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ τὸ παιδάριον Ἠλεί Ἕως πότε μεθυσθήσῃ; περιελοῦ τὸν οἶνόν σου καὶ πορεύου ἐκ προσώπου Κυρίου. | וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלֶ֨יהָ֙ עֵלִ֔י עַד מָתַ֖י תִּשְׁתַּכָּרִ֑ין הָסִ֥ירִי אֶת יֵינֵ֖ךְ מֵעָלָֽיִךְ | dixitque ei: Usquequo ebria eris? digere paulisper vinum, quo mades. | Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Get rid of your wine!” |
| 15 | Anna answering, said: Not so, my lord: for I am an exceeding unhappy woman, and have drunk neither wine nor any strong drink, but I have poured out my soul before the Lord. | Bà An-na trả lời rằng: “Không, thưa ngài, tôi chỉ là một người đàn bà tâm thần đau khổ. Tôi đã không uống rượu và đồ uống có men, tôi chỉ thổ lộ tâm can trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA. | καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ἅννα καὶ εἶπεν Οὐχί, κύριε· γυνὴ ἡ σκληρὰ ἡμέρα ἐγώ εἰμι, καὶ οἶνον καὶ μέθυσμα οὐ πέπωκα, καὶ ἐκχέω τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐνώπιον Κυρίου· | וַתַּ֨עַן חַנָּ֤ה וַתֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א אֲדֹנִ֔י אִשָּׁ֤ה קְשַׁת ר֨וּחַ֙ אָנֹ֔כִי וְיַ֥יִן וְשֵׁכָ֖ר לֹ֣א שָׁתִ֑יתִי וָאֶשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ אֶת נַפְשִׁ֖י לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה | Respondens Anna: Nequaquam, inquit, domine mi: nam mulier infelix nimis ego sum: vinumque et omne quod inebriare potest, non bibi, sed effudi animam meam in conspectu Domini. | Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD. |
| 16 | Count not thy handmaid for one of the daughters of Belial: for out of the abundance of my sorrow and grief have I spoken till now. | Xin đừng coi nữ tỳ ngài đây là đứa vô lại: chỉ vì quá lo âu phiền muộn mà tôi đã nói cho đến bây giờ.” | μὴ δῷς τὴν δούλην σου εἰς θυγατέρα λοιμήν, ὅτι ἐκ πλήθους ἀδολεσχίας μου ἐκτέτακα ἕως νῦν. | אַל תִּתֵּן֙ אֶת אֲמָ֣תְךָ֔ לִפְנֵ֖י בַּת בְּלִיָּ֑עַל כִּֽי מֵרֹ֥ב שִׂיחִ֛י וְכַעְסִ֖י דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי עַד הֵֽנָּה | Ne reputes ancillam tuam quasi unam de filiabus Belial: quia ex multitudine doloris et mœroris mei locuta sum usque in præsens. | Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.” |
| 17 | Then Heli said to her: Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition, which thou hast asked of him. | Ông Ê-li trả lời rằng: “Bà hãy đi về bình an. Xin Thiên Chúa của Ít-ra-en ban cho bà điều bà đã xin Người!” | καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ἠλεὶ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Πορεύου εἰς εἰρήνην· ὁ θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ δῴη σοι πᾶν αἴτημά σου ὃ ᾐτήσω παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ. | וַיַּ֧עַן עֵלִ֛י וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לְכִ֣י לְשָׁל֑וֹם וֵאלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל יִתֵּן֙ אֶת שֵׁ֣לָתֵ֔ךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁאַ֖לְתְּ מֵעִמּֽוֹ | Tunc Heli ait ei: Vade in pace: et Deus Israël det tibi petitionem tuam quam rogasti eum. | Then Eli answered, “Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.” |
| 18 | And she said: Would to God thy handmaid may find grace in thy eyes. | 23 | And Elcana her husband said to her: Do what seemeth good to thee, and stay till thou wean him: and I pray that the Lord may fulfill his word. | 24 | And after she had weaned him, she carried him with her, with three calves, and three bushels of flour, and a bottle of wine, and she brought him to the house of the Lord in Silo. The child was young. |

| 28 | Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord all the days of his life, he shall be lent to the Lord. And they adored the Lord there.
